25.01.2022 "The most consequential American conspiracy theories ever were the Red Scares of 1919-21 and the late 1940s and early 1950s. Both met with a degree of popular enthusiasm and broad fear-based assent, but both were initiated and run by state and corporate-based elements as top-down psychological operations against the public, specifically targeting the left, labor organizers, and journalists, artists, celebrities and teachers who showed insufficient anti-Communist fervor. Both of the Red Scare campaigns succeeded in transforming American society and politics in a right-wing direction, and helped in partly dismantling the progressive, leftist and honestly liberal movements of their respective eras..." https://www.counterpunch.org/2020/09/16/conspiracy-panic/

17.01.2022 Update on Branch Meetings from the NSW General Secretary... This email is to update you on the ongoing status of NSW Labor Party Units in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The global pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on our economic and social circumstances. The disruptive effect of the pandemic is more acutely felt by the most vulnerable in our community; the elderly, those who are immune-compromised, and those in insecure and low-paid work who cannot afford to self-iso...late. The NSW Party Officers are currently developing a plan for the resumption of Party Units that recognises the importance of our Party Units but also ensures that the most vulnerable are not disadvantaged by that resumption. At a meeting of the National Executive on 1 June, it was resolved that Party Unit meetings would be suspended until at least 10 July. Importantly, resumption of branch meetings is conditional on the NSW Branch implementing a COVID-19 control plan. The relevant section of the National Executive resolution is as follows: State and Territory Branches seeking to resume regular Party activity from 10 July should table for approval with the National Executive Committee: a) a COVID 19 risk assessment and list of control measures prior to resumption; b) how the Branch will comply with their jurisdiction’s Public Health Orders, including physical distancing and restrictions on public gatherings; and c) a statement that the nature and form of party activity resumption will empower members to engage equally in said activities. The Party Officers are currently developing a COVID-19 control plan that will be presented to a meeting of the NSW Labor Administrative Committee on Friday 17 July. Following the Administrative Committee, the control plan will then be sent to National Executive Committee for approval. This means that the suspension of Branch, LGC, SEC, and FEC activities will remain in place until a COVID-19 control plan, which allows members to participate equally in Party Unit activities, has been endorsed by the National Executive Committee. Thank you for your continuing patience in this difficult period. We will keep you updated as we have more information. Yours in Labor Bob Nanva NSW Labor General Secretary

09.01.2022 "What we are speaking of today really is the extraordinary work that Angus has done in this portfolio as energy and emissions reduction. True. It is extraordinary, for all the wrong reasons. As the AFR’s Chanticleer column put it: This is the sort of plan that should have been endorsed by the Council of Australia Governments about a decade ago.... A decade late and a billion dollars high..." https://thenewdaily.com.au//hot-air-and-pants-on-fire-fac/
