25.01.2022 We must all do our best to keep up the pressure on government to review the current toll situation on the M5 and M8 motorways. Full marks to Chris Minns MP and Steve Kamper for telling Sydney how unfair this situation is on local residents and businesses in St George

24.01.2022 Bexley Chamber of Commerce Inc. is proud to launch #BackTheBay, a campaign in collaboration with Bayside Council to support local businesses. Back The Bay will encourage residents to shop locally and help local businesses continue operating during and after COVID-19. We want locals to spread the love by sharing photos of their purchases on social media with the hashtag #BackTheBay. Along with buying locally, Bayside residents are encouraged to like their favourite businesses on social media, order online/buy takeaway, keep their memberships/subscriptions and leave an online rating/review. Lets work together to support each other and keep the local economy alive. I ask all business owners reading this to share the post and upload the photo below to your own social media and web pages #BackTheBay #BuyLocal

24.01.2022 Despite the situation with Covid-19 business goes on in Bexley Town Centre. Bexley TAB at 475 Forest Road is being stripped out with signage removed. Does anyone what is happenning here? The long time Chicken shop at 392 Forest road, most recently known as Enjoy Me Chicken, shut down a few weeks ago and is now a kebab shop.

23.01.2022 For those interested in Commercial Leasing and the COVID-19 reforms I would recommend spending an hour to look at the webinar link below by the Sydney Law School. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfTnA0K_69Y&feature=youtu.be

21.01.2022 Just some of the thousands of petition responses weve received opposed to the Liberals giant toll on the M5 - a road locals have used for free for 20 years.

21.01.2022 Heart felt speech in parliament on the current traffic situation through Bexley by one of the best local members Rockdale Electorate could hope for.

20.01.2022 Skype, zoom and other such teleconferencing tools are increasingly being used to replace face to face meetings. They are especially important in the current Covid-19 situation. 17.01.2022 I recommend that all with an interest in the current traffic situation through Bexley Town Centre have a listen to this mornings ABC Radio Sydney segment including an interview with Chris Minns MP

15.01.2022 M8 and M5 toll dodgers have returned traffic along Stoney Creek and Forest Roads Bexley to pre M5 tunnel days. This situation needs to be urgently reviewed for the sanity of residents and businesses along these roads. Full marks to our local MPs Chris Minns MP (Kogarah) and Steve Kamper (Rockdale) for their vigorous opposition.

15.01.2022 Bayside council is currently calling for community feedback on their proposed upgrades to pavement, landscaping and street furniture in Bexley Town Centre. Work is anticipated to commence in May 2021 with an expected duration of 5 months. The Bexley Chamber of Commerce Inc. encourages anyone with an interest in Bexley Town Centre to view the proposal and submit their comments to Bayside Council by the 25 October 2020 closing date. Submissions may relate to the overall concep...t or impacts local to any business or location. If anyone in the community would like to look at a larger scaled drawing and discuss the proposal we have organised two drop in sessions at the Forest Inn Hotel at lunch time (12.30 till 1.30) and early evening (5.30 till 6.30) on Wednesday 21 October 2020. Please enter the hotel via the front entrance, complete your COVID-19 venue registration and ask for directions to the Irish Bar This will be a fantastic improvement for our centre and we all need to get on board to make it a success. Please feel free to contact PM Bexley Chocom if you would have questions or would like to schedule a personal briefing.

It will be targeted to those businesses highly impacted by restrictions on gatherings and movements such as cafes, restaurants, gyms etc. Applications will be available through Service NSW within a fortnight and will remain open until 1 June 2020. A link to the governments media release is below. https://www.treasury.nsw.gov.au//Gladys%20Berejiklian%20Do

15.01.2022 The current traffic situation along Stoney Creek and Forest Roads Bexley is devastating to residents and businesses in the Bexley area all brought about by motorists avoiding recently introduced excessive tolls on the M8 and M5. The extent of community outrage about this situation is being widely reported. I appeal to the Minister for transport, Andrew Constance MP, the member for Oatley Mark Coure MP and Transport for NSW to urgently address this situation. If anyone is aware of relevant media release from any of the above please post a link.

15.01.2022 Tune into parliament live today at 4pm to see the toll debate spearheaded by our brilliant state members Chris Minns MP and Steve Kamper: https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/Pages/la-webcast-page.aspx

14.01.2022 Another recycling of TfNSW assurances to "work with the local community and Bayside Council to develop customer parking options'. TfNSW have not been working with anyone in the local community that the Bexley Chamber of Commerce Inc. is aware of and any discussions they have had with council are not open for public participation. Clearway extensions and no stopping restrictions through Bexley came into effect on 17 February 2020. Surely there's been adequate time to address loss of shop front parking. I also seem to recall some promise that the impact of 17 February 2020 changes would be monitored and reported on within a year. Let's see!

14.01.2022 Thanks to 9 News Sydney for coming out to talk to residents and see the terrible impacts the new M5 toll (on the old part of the road) is having on our area. He...avy vehicles, including B-double trucks are being pushed onto our local streets due to this toll, hurting local businesses and creating an unbearable situation for local residents. See more

12.01.2022 Just some of the thousands of petition responses we’ve received opposed to the Liberals giant toll on the M5 - a road locals have used for free for 20 years.

12.01.2022 The new M8 was billed as a game changer to bust traffic on the M5, but instead it's become an empty white elephant, with the enormous cost of tolls for truckies being blamed for the motorway's failure. #9News | Nightly at 6.00pm

12.01.2022 My feeling is that the fine on bigger trucks using the new Northconnex motorway will not do a lot to relieve Pennant Hills Road traffic volumes. Dangerous and oversized good carriers, small trucks, buses and passenger cars with still be able to avoid the toll and travel on surface roads networks. Bigger trucks may even decide to plan their journey to avoid both the tunnel and Pennant Hills road causing havoc in adjacent suburban streets. Let's see what happens! https://www.abc.net.au//sydneys-new-3-billion-do/12827802

12.01.2022 This is a great initiative by Bayside Council. I encourage all members of the Bexley Business community to complete this form and add your business to Councils virtual business map.

11.01.2022 801 so far more needed Say no to traffic on Stoney Creek/Forest Road sign petition https://www.change.org/NOTOLLM5EAST

10.01.2022 Tolls from the libs are smashing ordinary families, and it's only going to get worse - with the rate going up 4% a year, every year, under the Berejiklian government.

09.01.2022 Bayside Mayor Joe Awada talks about the importance of buying local and supporting local businesses and has a Q&A with the Bayside BEC, the Bexley Chamber of Commerce Inc. and the St George Business Chamber.

08.01.2022 Congratulations Coucillor Liz Barlow for 25 years of outstanding dedication from the Bexley Chamber of Commerce Inc.

07.01.2022 Earlier this afternoon the PM unveiled preliminary details of a new mandatory commercial tenancies code. This will be legislated and regulated in each State and Territory to guide landlord and tenant negotiations during the Covid-19 crisis. Further details are explained in the article to be found at: https://www.businessnewsaus.com.au//pm-unveils-mandatory-c

07.01.2022 This is a great initiative. Click on the Bayside BEC link if you feel that you need a helping hand at this difficult time for business owners.

06.01.2022 What a great selfless initiative

06.01.2022 The outrageously high tolls that have been put on the previously free section of the M5 East are pushing cars and trucks onto our local roads, particularly Fore...st Road. Yesterday I had the opportunity to raise some of the concerns put to me by residents in Parliament and demand that the government takes action.

06.01.2022 Fantastic initiative Chris and Anoulack. Thanks for listening to your community and taking action to address this lifestyle destroying traffic situation through Bexley as motorists unable to pay the new toll divert through our streets.

06.01.2022 Chris Minns MP the member for Kogarah will be having a mobile office visit to Bexley Town Centre tomorrow Saturday 12 September 2020 from 12 noon till 1pm at the corner of Forest and Stoney Creek Roads Bexley. This will be a great opportunity to meet him and discuss any State issues including education, law and order and Transport. Chris is the NSW Shadow Minister for Transport and has been very active in opposing unaffordable new tolls on the M5 which have massively increased traffic through Bexley Town Centre.

05.01.2022 Something like this has to be considered at the Kingsgrove end of the M8 to save Bexley Town Centre.

04.01.2022 I have been asked to organise some locals to take part in a photo shoot for an article being written for the Leader about increased traffic through Bexley Town Centre as a result of motorists dodging new motorway tolls. It will be 1.30pm today 14 August 2020 meeting outside the Forest Inn hotel, corner of Forest and Stoney Creek roads. Sorry for the late notice. Please come to show your opposition if free.

03.01.2022 The Federal Member for Werriwa Anne Stanley MP calling on local Liberal MPs to speak up on the issue of recently introduced tolls on the M8 and M5

03.01.2022 The debate in state parliament on M5 tolls as a response to the recent 10,000 signature petition is scheduled for tomorrow 12 November 2020 at 4pm. Our state members Minns and Kamper should both be in attendance, Covid 19 restrictions permitting. For those who would like to watch it live the link is: https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/Pages/la-webcast-page.aspx

03.01.2022 The Federal Government recently announced a wage replacement scheme to help businesses affected by the Coronavirus. This should apply to any business with a turnover under 1 billion dollars that's lost at least 30% of its business, and will provide $750 per week per employee to continue to pay their wages over the next 6 months. A link to the Australian government treasury site that contains 3 useful fact sheets explaining this scheme is as below. https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus/jobkeeper

03.01.2022 Sydney truck drivers have choked up the streets, in a show of anger against tolls on the new Northconnex. #9News
