12.01.2022 Big Mumma Jess still plugging away at the things I love whilst this body is happy to do so! With slight modifications here and there of course, but it’s really quite astounding what your body can do when it’s used to training and movement. Now you know I’m all about that balance of effort and ease... And so with Baby Blencowe no.3 due end of Jan 2021, I’m planning to be teaching my awesome students for most of Term 4 then taking a month of rest, listening to my body and letting everything soften to prepare for birth. You’ll notice me gradually teaching less, but don’t worry- I’ll be back! So if you want to get in, nows the time... 06.01.2022 MAKING TIME FOR PRACTICE Stealing an hour of time this morning to catch a class on my little weekend getaway at @mingaraone. If you’re ever on the Centra Coast, Marty @mpptfit teaches yoges up here. His warm presence is as infectious as his beautiful big smile; and his classes are fantastic. Making time for your own practice is so important, no matter what season of life or how busy you are. Whether it’s 5 mins stretching whilst you watch tv at night, a few poses with the babes as counter weights, some back and neck rolls at your work desk or a class. Time and discipline build self respect, growth, confidence and alll the benefits you seek. It’s not about quantity, it’s about consistency. Take the time you need, for you. #yoges4eva

04.01.2022 I’M JUST YOUR AVERAGE YOGI... Whilst the belly is a lot rounder now growing gremlin number 3, I want to be real with you today. Whilst my usual exterior and love of sharing yoga and the calm may seem a bit foreign or out of touch with what you do - I want to admit... I’m just your average yogi. I’m a born striver that’s long struggled with people pleasing, fatigue, stress, overwhelm and burnout. I looove high intensity exercise, I relish my morning coffee, and I yell at my ...kids at times when I know it’s more helpful to whisper. Why am I telling you this? Because I want you to see how you don’t have to be a chilled cucumber to do yoga or be anyone at all. Yoga is for everyone, and the magic it brings your day and your life by bringing back the balance, quiet and space to our lives that are so full, energetic and push focussed is beyond words. It’s given me so many gifts in life, from learning to love, nurture and appreciate my body rather than push and hate on it- resulting in no more burnouts. It’s taught me the importance of down time and rest to maintain health and mental wellbeing- to avoid the injuries and sickness. And also how important balance is in body, mind and our spirit to maintain vitality and energy so I can actually give 100% to all that I love and adore. I’m not an exceptional person. I’m not unlike you. I’ve just found this little unlock, that’s pretty huge- if you just take the time to practise and put that little bit of time into you. So if you’re the person thinking yoga isn’t for you because it’s not burning bulk calories or you’re not flexible, then I invite you to just question that thought a bit more. Is that really the truth? Are you someone who is stuck in the push or becomes unstuck with life’s intensity at times, but don’t know how to take that step towards balance- health AND fitness? Quite often it’s more difficult once you’re in the rush and the daily push to tick off the to do list, to slow down and just be ok with being. I get it! But did you know it’s one of the most important parts of energy production, healing, growth, creativity, injury and disease prevention/management to allow space for rest. ... Sleep does this, absolutely. But in our day, stopping to be quiet and focus on the breathe and releasing tension in the body is the biggest trick to manage stress and anxiety, depression and maintain energy and vitality to give to all the things we love most.
