19.01.2022 "Teen Tech" - weekly posts on how to build our community, one young person at a time. 6. Time, Time, Time - Love is spelt T-I-M-E. It’s not minutes-on-a-clock time, nor is it how-much-you-can-pack-into-a-date time. It is ‘normal time’ - the everyday cycle of life and natural development of growth through relationships. Adults who want to get close to young people (or want young people to get close to them) need to do the simple things - work together, play together - to devel...op trust and make lasting bonds ... Smile at kids, learn their names ... you could be the adult who changes a young persons life forever ....

14.01.2022 If understanding forgiveness has been a barrier to you having your life restored, then may today be the day when you move beyond that barrier!!! Listen as Dr Tim Jennings simply explains what forgiveness is NOT https://youtu.be/9oiaRiswZ7U Throughout our lives, parents, teachers and religious leaders have urged us to: Forgive and forget, Turn the other cheek, Let bygones be bygones, Kiss and makeup... As a result we have all grown up with certain ideas about what forgiveness really is. If we are to forgive and let go, it is essential to remove the myths about forgiveness. Listen as Dr Tim Jennings simply explains what forgiveness is NOT in the linked video. https://youtu.be/9oiaRiswZ7U

10.01.2022 WHAT IS A PARENT RESPONSIBLE FOR... Parents are NOT responsible for how their children turn out. They are responsible for THEIR CONDUCT in parenting. The only behaviour/choices you have ultimate control over are your own. ... Of course loving parents will have concern, fear, anxiety and heart-breaking grief over a teenage/adult child who is destroying themselves. But, this type of concern does not arise from a fear of being a failure as a parent, or from feeling guilty or blaming self for their rebellion. This concern arises from genuine love for the adult child. A love that wants the best for them. God’s will for your child IS what is best and it is God’s will that each person freely chooses what happens with their life. In other words, ultimately, our children (as adults) will decide what happens to their own lives. Which is a good thing! While we (as their parent) might not have made these choices for them, as we better understand the divine law of liberty, we will recognise that controlling outcomes is NOT the role of a parent, nor is it love. ~ Dr Tim Jennings

Resilience - Resilient young people have a positive attitude towards their environment, hold a strong sense of purpose, and develop an internal strength that enables them to see life's obstacles as challenges to be overcome. Resilience can't be taught. Resilience is caught by providing knowledge in a loving an caring environment and within meaningful, growing relationships. Through these... steps, young people build strength and improve their ability to overcome lifes often overwhelming odds ... Service to others - Decades ago, William Shakespeare observed that ...it is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely help another without helping himself. According to research, youth who volunteer just one hour a week are 50% less likely to abuse drugs, alcohol, cigarettes or engage in destructive behaviour. Kids need someone like you to help them get started in helping others. Smile at kids, learn their names ... you could be the adult who changes a young persons life forever ....
