19.01.2022 Did you know; there are many ways that paint can be recycled... Most often, the highest quality of latex paint is sorted out and turned back into recycled paint that can be used. Recycled paint is environmentally preferable to new paint, while still maintaining comparable quality. In many cases, reusable paints of the same colour are pumped into a tank where the material is mixed and tested. The paint is adjusted with additives and colourants as necessary. Finally, the paint ...is fine filtered and packaged for sale. Paint that cannot be reused has other environmentally friendly uses. Non-reusable paint can be made into a product used in cement manufacturing, thereby recycling virtually 100 per cent of the original paint. If you have paint tins that you need to get rid of you can drop them off at the Geelong Resource Recovery Centre. Pretty cool hey?! 19.01.2022 Refreshing the outside of your home is just as important as the inside! Remember, it is one of your biggest assets. So when should you repaint the exterior of your house > > > it all depends on what your home is made from! If your exterior is timber, it should be re-coated every five years or so. Stucco can be painted less frequently, assuming that the exterior is still in good condition and free of any cracks. If your siding or shingles are stained, that should be touched ...up every three years to keep the timber sealed and prevent the colour from turning to grey. 13.01.2022 Preparation is essential for a great result but there is more to it than just washing your walls! You need to consider the appropriate tools; sand paper, filler, filling knife, drop sheets, roller sleeves and frames, paint brushes (yes you need more than 1), edgers, and more sometimes. Is there mould? Are there any water marks? Can you see any scratches, dents or holes? These all need to be sorted before you can even prime! So as you can see preparation can be quite involved. With todays painters using white spackle, plaster, caulk and chalk, wearing white still makes sense. Plus white beats the heat by reflecting the heat rather than absorbing. White also acts as a subliminal "wet paint" sign and passer-bys tend to be more aware of their surroundings and less likely to touch freshly painted surfaces.

11.01.2022 Fact: Youll quickly find that the colours can look completely different in a store than in your home. The warmth of the light can change how it appears, and what looks great on the swatch may look horrible when paired with your furniture. A good rule of thumb is to always paint a sample patch around the size of an A4 piece of paper and then leave it for three days before continuing. This will allow you to see it in different kinds of lighting morning, afternoon and night time light and give you enough time to confirm it is the colour you want.
