25.01.2022 Love the paralympics!

24.01.2022 As occupational therapy practitioners, our identity and role within multidisciplinary services will vary. It often strays from the taught OT 'remit'. Always remember one thing...

23.01.2022 This is a long shot from Port Douglas to Yandama Station, 400 kilometres north of Broken Hill in Far Western NSW...a sheep station which my brother Angus owns, ...lives and breathes every day and night..he is tetraplegic since 2000 and is searching for a carer..the action of just sharing this post with another human no matter how irrelevant may find him his new carer..that's worth a shot.. #disabilitycarer #carer #tetraplegia #tetraplegic https://m.facebook.com/1216661954/posts/10221189880636054/?notif_id=1575678407685231¬if_t=shared_priv_with_me&ref=notif

19.01.2022 The following photos and videos were sent to me at my request by Chanin Clayton, (my Mom’s occupational therapist). She and the other physical therapists and t...he speech therapist at Landmark have been working with my mom since her stroke six weeks ago. It has been amazing to watch her progress! I want to thank the rehab crew for their hard work and creative minds. They are my heroes! They worked above and beyond the call of duty. I was inspired by them. -For those of you following this post, it has been incredible to watch it go around the world. My Mom loves to read the sweet supportive comments that have been posted. Thank you so much! From Chanin: This is Millie Lewis and she will be 90 years old this month. She had a stroke and came to Landmark care facility for rehab. She’s been working with PT,OT and Speech therapy. A few days into her therapy we were told she had been to a National Championship in roller skating dance. We discussed with her and her family that when she gets stronger I would love to help her skate one more time. About month into her rehab we did a home assessment and at the end she showed me her skates and we brought them back to our facility. PT and OT worked together setting Millie up on our light gate equipment and assisted her to skate one last time. She was in her happy place and as we skated through the facility she was all smiles, she made every staff member and resident smile as they rooted her on!! A true therapy success story as our residents work hard and we assist them in all of their goals they want to achieve. Roller skating at 90 after a stroke is quite of an achievement!! This shows that anything is possible at any age with hard work, creativity and a therapy team that loves to go the extra mile for our residents!!
