18.01.2022 Tomorrow, we have a Prerelease event for Commander Legends! Here’s how the format will work: Similar to a regular draft, each player will get three boosters and open them sequentially as they pass the cards around to their left, then right, then left again. Importantly, because Commander Legends boosters are packed with 20 cards, players will draft 2 cards at a time before passing. You’ll have to pick a Commander for your deck during the drafting process, because at the end o...f the picks, you’ll be making a deck of at least 60 cards to go with that commander card you’ve selected. If you have trouble electing a legendary creature from the draft to be your commander, you can also choose to have up to two Prismatic Pipers from outside the game fill that slot. Before the game starts, you can choose a colour that each Prismatic Piper commander will represent, and build your deck in those colours. The singleton rule doesn’t apply in Commander Legends Prerelease; you can put any card you draft into your deck as long as it meets the colour restrictions of your commander. Once the decks are made, all the regular commander play-rules apply; a pod of 4 players each start with 40 life, they will randomly select who goes first, commanders can return to the command zone when they die or are sent to exile, players can pay two extra mana to recast their commanders, taking 21 commander damage or having your life total drop to 0 will make you lose the game, etc. Commander Legends prerelease is set to be an awesome event, and we can’t wait for tomorrow - join us at Beyond to throw down some epic new cards!
