If you're anything like me you probably think 'o...h, but you don't know how I've messed up so many things this year...' Yep, we all got some things wrong this year...BUT I know we also have done a lot of things very well! What I've seen many leaders do well this year is to support and protect their people. You have innovated and adapted to keep your people's jobs. You have provided for your people to work from home. You have worked extra hours to figure it all out. You have taken the time to check in with your people. You have made your organisation future-proof. And so much more... You have given your best! Well done! (I would give you each a real trophy if I could!) (John F Kennedy) This is only a small sample of all the leadership books and articles I have studied over the 20 years I've been in leadership. I have recently heard someone say 'leaders are readers' and I agree to a point. But reading itself might not get us where we need to go.... Have you ever read a book or a social media post for that matter and thought 'Oh, that's great stuff!' and the next day you couldn't remember what it was about? I'm not going into the psychology of learning or memory now, but in short, reading alone is not getting us where we want to go. Imagine a road map; if you only read it you are not going anywhere.
