11.01.2022 A PROTEIN SHAKE IS NOT ENOUGH Its a common sight. The gym goer chugging down a protein shake as he/she walks out of the gym after a workout. While Protein is essential for helping repair the muscles after a strenuous session there is other factor at play that require a more complete approach.... Exercise causes oxidative stress on the body at a cellular level so antioxidants are vital for cell repair. Just as omega fatty acids are critical to help repair your nervous system that has just been put under severe pressure. Finally the glycogen (the energy stores) in your cells needs to be replenished with carbohydrates. This will stop you from wanting to fall asleep. All of which needs to be bioavailabe as quickly as possible. For many of us everyday athletes we need to perform in the gym, at work and home so a complete approach to your post workout nutrition will ensure you get the results your want without impacting the other areas of life.

We can, we should, yet we convince ourselves we cant. It was one of those days, I almost gave in to the negativity surrounding our society today. And it was one thought that changed my actions. With so much negativity around, what can I do right now that is positive? The answer... go workout. And for that 1 hour nothing else mattered but me. I was the most important person in my world. And with that I had an amazing workout and feel so much more positive. Your actions on a good day are important, however its what you do on the bad ones that will set you on a course of greatness.
