07.01.2022 Norway’s prime minister, Erna Solberg, held a press conference on Sunday specifically to address children's questions and fears about the coronavirus. With the ...country's schools closed and all activities canceled, she acknowledged that I know that for many children this is scary. It is ok to be scared when so many things happen at the same time. She also took the time to answer a number of children's questions including "Why am I not allowed to celebrate my birthday? (Answer: When more children gather together to celebrate a birthday, it can be easier to get infected. It’s time to get creative and celebrate on FaceTime.) and "Is it stressful to be prime minister now?" (Answer: I am not so stressed, but I have an important job and a great responsibility as prime minister. Fortunately I have many good people who help me.) She also spoke to the importance of social distancing, explaining that by being home you are helping other people not be contaminated and get sick. It is important for those who already have a disease or who are very old." Kudos to the Prime Minister for recognizing the impact of this crisis on its youngest citizens and respectfully addressing their concerns!
