17.01.2022 --- PROCESS OVER PROGRESS --- Had my first check in with a new online client Megan today and after a really rocky start we have made a nice 0.4kg loss on the scales in week 1. The number on the scales isn't what I want to talk about though even though its a fantastic result. I want to talk about the importance of focusing on what matters and what in turn leads to the progress... and that is to be more focused on the 'Process' itself.... Things like drinking more water, being mindful, gratitude, moving more, playing a social sport, doing good in the world, helping people, paying attention to triggers etc. All the things that can be done on a daily basis for little to no money even when you cant make it to the gym because of a poorly young child or a family crisis. BUT Sometimes all the above can seem too overwhelming or on the other hand un-important in the grand scheme of things right? I mean, isnt it all about lifting weights, doing hill sprints and following a strict diet plan everyday? Well for some people yeah like athletes or people with high reaching goals. But what about the mom who works, cooks, cleans, does laundry, baths the kids, takes them to sports etc Sometimes there's something called Life that can throw spanners in the works on a regular basis and make it tough to be the super dedicated athlete looking type with sculpted buns. Sometimes its nice to just drop 0.4kg and still handle all the shit life throws at you. So here's to all the women chipping away at it and trying their best to get those 400g losses or 100g losses even Keep going, your doing great

03.01.2022 More Mis-Guided information from a young man on Youtube claiming Apples inhibit fat loss in hopes that you'll buy into Mike Chang's Six Pack Shortcut program. Let me indulge you with something... 1) Anytime you hear 'Shortcut' especially in reference to abs I highly recommend you immediately deploy your full body Bullshit defense system since there is NO SHORTCUTS to anything in life, especially not a 6-pack 2) An apple does contain the same amount of a sugar as Reece's Peanu...t Butter Bar but then again so does a banana, a pear or any serve of fruit so this guy is basically saying don't eat fruit because it makes you fat (need I go on?) 3) Even if the sugar in an apple is the same amount then how that sugar affects your body when its derived from an apple is totally different than the refined sugar (with the additional Fat and artificial preservatives and additives) that comes from a Peanut Butter Chocolate bar. Take into consideration that an apple is from a tree and contains vital micro nutrients and fiber that help digestion and fight disease I think its fair to say this guy is a total moron He actually advises that if your going to eat apples whilst trying to lose weight you may aswell be eating Peanut Butter chocolate bars instead since they taste much better So using this dudes highly scientific approach we may as well drink a beer instead of a freshly squeezed orange juice each day since they have roughly the same calories right? Yeah just excuse me while I get ripped on XXXX Gold The message? Not all calories are created equal. Yes flexible dieting may allow for some of the niceties in life whilst dropping Bodyfat if a caloric deficit is maintained but when that compromises long term health I would suggest opting for a higher percentage of whole foods and the occasional treat WHEN you crave it Focus on Health before Fitness, because without health looking Fit equates to the total sum of Zero.
