25.01.2022 Leading up to this unique situation we're facing, I've had people suggest I start writing again. So here I am, back in the game, back to add some value to the world we live in, and back to share gratitude. Some might say the world has gone crazy, others might suggest it's having a detox (I've seen many pictures showing the regeneration of our mother earth), and some might not know what to think...each and every thought that every person might have in this moment is personal a...nd from where I sit, without judgement. I too, share the fear of what lies ahead, but at this time, I'm reminding myself that I can 'Forget Everything And Run', or we can 'Face Everything And Rise'. There will be days that each and everyone of us may experience both or either mindset, please remember that their is support, their are people that care, you do belong, you are enough and you are loved. I invite you to share this page, spread it far and wide. I hope to each and everyday bring you value, bring you something to look forward to and bring you whatever it is that you might need in that moment. I am asking, wholeheartedly, that we keep this space COVID-19 FREE. There are plenty of services (see picture), professional services that are available for you to turn to at this time. My mission is to focus on the physical and mental well-being of our global community. Please understand that if you do need someone to speak to, please PM me, I am always here to listen and support.

23.01.2022 Join the Movement...3 things you're grateful for each day!!

23.01.2022 What is gratitude? Where does it come from? Why do some people seem to be naturally more grateful than others? Can you foster more feelings and expressions of gratitude? Gratitude is, simply put, the ability to appreciate the things that you do have rather than focusing on the things you don't have. Without a doubt, gratitude is influenced by our values, our beliefs and the people we choose to be around the most. Identifying with our family and friends and seeking a feeling ...of belonging, can both positively and negatively influence our attitude of gratitude. To get started on your gratitude journey, and to support you in fostering more feeling and expressions of gratitude, my challenge to you is: for the next 21 days, write down 3 things that you are grateful for. Need accountability, join 'The Grateful Movement' , each day I will share 3 things I am grateful for, I invite you to do the same.

23.01.2022 "Climbs are more than segments, they take us places: to the mountain tops, to that next level of fitness, or to the best sunrise view in town. No matter your pace, they always demand at least a little extra, and most days the reward is sweet enough to erase the pain that got you there. And that’s why we love them" - Strava I received this in an email this morning, from Strava (app that tracks your activity)...and I couldn't help but relate it to every other aspect of life out...side of health and fitness. The notion is the same, the message is the same and the actions that we take every day bring the same outcome - results. If you are willing to take that climb, that challenge, that journey, you will go places. It is only in standing still that you will not progress. So, no matter how big or small the step you take today is... as long as you are taking a step in the right direction, you are growing, you are evolving and you are getting closer to your success. The more you put in, the more you will get out of your actions. Some days may be only a little, and others, a hell of a lot. You are responsible for your results, as well as your non-results!!

23.01.2022 Exercise and physical activity isn't just about cardio fitness, weight loss and/or muscle size. People who tend to maintain a lifestyle including physical activity do so because it gives them an amazing feeling of well-being. At the risk of moving from my candid comments into evidence based research, I think it is important to acknowledge that a recent study done by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health found that running for 15 minutes a day or walking for an hour r...educes the risk of major depression by 26%. That might sound daunting for some people at first but this is a great goal to aim for, even a little bit of activity is better than nothing. So, start by walking to your letterbox, up and down your drive-way or the street corner. Play a game of catch or frisbee with your kids, or throw in some squats each time you hang that next item of clothing on the line. My point is, keep moving, maintain some form of physical activity each day. Exercise your mind, body, attitude and your soul!!!

22.01.2022 One of the most simple tools to use in the face of every situation both positive and negative is 'The Cognitive Triangle'. The Cognitive Triangle is a tool commonly used in the mental health field to explain how our thoughts, emotions and behaviours are all interrelated, and influence one another. Starting at the top of the triangle, our thoughts affect how we feel and act. Secondly, how we feel effects what we think and do and finally, what we do affects how we think and fe...el. In any situation, the cognitive triangle will look different. An example of how you might consider it, however, is this: SCENARIO: Someone pushes in front of you at the check-out. Choice 1 - THINK: That person is so rude, how dare they push ahead of me, they must have seen me standing here. FEEL: angry, frustrated, mad ACT: call them out, swear at them. Choice 2 - THINK: They must be in such a hurry, have stuff going on, didn't even notice the happenings around them FEEL: calm, empathetic, understanding ACT: politely let them know where the end of the line was, start a conversation with them, smile and share some human connection. Remember, you may not have control of a situation that occurs, but you do have control over how you think, feel and act about it!!

21.01.2022 Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future John F Kennedy This doesn't always mean that change is easy, although inevitable. Change cannot be avoided and the more you resist the more challenging it can be. Change does have such a dramatic effect on each and every one of us, it is our perspective and level of acceptance for change that makes the biggest difference. Even with a positive mindset, there will b...e times that change challenges you and forces you to consider your choices about many variables in your lifestyle. So how can we adapt and how can we adjust to an ever-changing life? 1) Be OK with stepping out of your comfort zone. Your brain will not like it, it's wired to tell you to resist (fight or flight response). Our fear and self-limiting beliefs will kick in, however, our power of choice will enable a positive step forward - if you choose. 2) Know what is important. This will give you clarity and focus of the bigger (and sometimes better) picture. What doesn't challenge you, will not change you, and by that very essence we need to change to grow. 3) Let go of any regrets that might hold you back. Change presents opportunities, so don't look back at your past, a new opportunity is just in front of you. 4) Practice feeling scared, affirm for yourself that you are complete and able. Write a list of things you've always wanted to do that scare you. Then start ticking them off. Feel the fear and do it anyway, the scarier the better. In perspective, changes won't seem so terrifying to cope with. 5) Find a balance that works for you. Living a balanced, healthy and active life will ensure you build upon your resilience and in turn you coping mechanisms. Stress is a completely normal part of this balance, particularly in the face of things changing, when uncertainty arises and when we feel overwhelmed with what's in front of us. However, stress can also be perceived as a test to affirm that you are enough. We all strive to live happy, healthy lives and while change is inevitable, we do have the choice of how we respond to change. Some people may need more support than others and that is completely normal. If you do need some support with change, reach out to someone who can provide you with that support until you are practiced enough and ready to cope with making those choices yourself.

20.01.2022 Uncertainty!!!! It's always been there, we've always had it. The only difference between today and a month or so ago is that we are living in an acute phase of uncertainty. Our brain is naturally hard wired to look to make life difficult, however, with some helpful habits and an awareness of our emotions we can override the irrational brain and handle our uncertainty with great effect. When faced with uncertainty, our brain is naturally wired to react with anxiety and fear, a...lmost like a knee-jerk reaction. Once you are aware of the fear, acknowledge it, and then focus your attention on something that is completely stress-free and refocus your attention on something positive. What we focus on expands, what we stop focusing on ceases to exist. Our fear is not in response to an event, our fear is in response to our perceptions of the event. What are some positive actions that you can re-direct your focus with? Which path will you choose today?

19.01.2022 Thank you, let's keep growing this community. Please share this page to your newsfeed and/or invite 10 friends that you know will appreciate the positive mindset, the gratitude and the empowerment that we are creating here!!

18.01.2022 What’s the goal of education? To get a job? Or to find and develop your unique talents to enable you to contribute to the community in a way that allows you to live your dream? It has been said that when we are born, our life work is placed in our heart. Our responsibility is to find out what that it. Winston Churchill himself explains that we make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.... Growth and contribution are the core of our success. With growth brings the opportunity to become more, to learn more, to develop more, to understand, appreciate and comprehend more. With contribution, comes the opportunity to take that growth, share it with others, add even more value to the lives around you and to take responsibility for your role as an active, informed, and contributing citizen in the community (both close to home and globally). With growth and contribution come true happiness! Use your education wisely xo

17.01.2022 The principles of Leadership apply in every context, once the understanding of leadership is clear, everyone starts speaking the same language and as a result, all strive toward achieving the same goal. This is why leadership training across the whole school, including Principal class, teachers, education support, students, parents etc... is so important. Empowering people with the knowledge and qualities of successful leaders, increases everyone's capacity and creates a shared responsibility and ownership of creating positive change.

14.01.2022 Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, you can achieve. Is this true? Whether you think it is or think it isn't, you're right. That's the power of the mind. Let me explain further, if you agree with this statement, you have just unlocked the power to claim all of the possibilities within the realms of your strengths. The subconscious mind, where your imagination plays, is vital in claiming these possibilities. When you truly understand what it is you want in the world,... and you believe it to be possible, you imagine and visualise yourself in the space and time of your achievement. It is then that you have shifted your focus to what you want, and put simply what you focus on is what you will get. Often we are focused on the things that we don't want in our lives and try to move away from these things. However, in doing so, our subconscious mind is still fixated on these things and they become a self-fulfilling prophecy plaguing us so severely that it limits the achievements of so many. Changing our focus from moving away from the things we don't want to moving toward the things we do want, allows our subconscious mind to see ourselves already in possession of what it is you want. Supporting this positive attitude by actively imagining and visualising is a giant step forward toward achievement. What's more is, it is important that you are visualising yourself already in prossesion of what it is you want. If you visualise and imagine it in the future, your subconscious mind will always see it in the future, but not today.

12.01.2022 You are 100% responsible for both your results and non results. If you aren't happy with the outcome that you're getting, change your actions. If you're not willing to make the changes, what are your actions giving you that is getting in the way of you making the change? If you can live with that, settle for that and continue living every day as your are - rock on! If it's not enough, if you deserve more, if you want an even more extraordinary life - change your actions!

11.01.2022 Self-care, what is it and why is it important? Self-care is fundamental for building resilience toward pressures in life that are outside of your control. Valuing yourself enough to take the steps to care for your mind and body will better equip you to live your best life. Self-care is important in every area of your life, including physical, social, mental, spiritual and emotional. It's not a one-size-fits-all kind of scenario, we are each whole and complete in our own way ...and your self-care plan needs to be customized to suit your plans, your lifestyle, and your needs. You don't need to address everything at once, be mindful of and assess the areas of your life that might need more attention and care. What is one small step you can take to begin caring for yourself today? Some examples might be: Physical - go for a half an hour walk each day Social - call/facetime somebody you haven't seen in a while (given our current social distancing requirements), or in another time, catch up for a coffee with someone you haven't seen in a while. Mental - learn something new or read that book you've been waiting to get into. Spiritual - practice mediation or join a yoga session Emotional - start a gratitude journal Make sure you schedule time to focus on your needs, make self-care a priority

09.01.2022 I love the school holidays!! Don't get me wrong, I am a normal Mum, I have days when I think, dammit, this gig is tough today...or why won't they listen to me for the 145th time!!!! However, I love the change of pace, hanging out in our PJ's till lunch time (yes, we sometimes do that!), watching my kidlets have fun with their friends, cooking in the kitchen, dancing around the house, playing in the yard, lunch dates with family and friends, and just having time to be present in the moment because we don't HAVE to be anywhere, there are no bells ringing to define the time of day. So while I have my kidlets at home on the holidays, I am grateful and sincerely appreciate that I get to share these times with my cherubs (even on the tough days), cos they all go by so quickly xx

06.01.2022 Term 3 is off and running in Victorian schools today (well mostly, I do know of a couple of schools that are kicking off with student free days). This quote (pictured below) has great meaning for me, for young learners, in your career and for adult learners alike. The most memorable and meaningful lessons are those which we engage with and are involved in. Making connections and adding new layers to our current thinking increases the ability to sustain the new learning. Opportunities to apply and transfer our new learning into real and purposeful life experiences creates an environment whereby we are able to appreciate, understand and connect with.
