25.01.2022 At Bright Future we support our parents business!

25.01.2022 School holidays are close! Do you have plans for your family? We love the idea of a family bucket list to work through over the holidays. You can design your list on your laptop and have it printed at officeworks. @practicallyhippie

25.01.2022 Tranquil lunch with a view: Our Junior Kindy (2-3 year age group) has such a warm, homey feel. It feels peaceful and the children all appear so comfortable in their environment, flowing freely between the indoors and outdoors. Picnic lunches, collaboratively setting the table and investigating in the sandpit fill our children's days. <3

24.01.2022 Great information for those collecting Woolworths seedlings

23.01.2022 TASTE SAFE SLIME We are huge fans of sensory play; but we also know that babies love exploring with their mouth. This recipe is safe (and nutritious) for mouthing bubs: 1 cup of chia seeds 1 cup of water Refrigerate over night... Ready for play @learningatheart See more

22.01.2022 CHICKEN HATCHLINGS Some little friends have joined the Springwood team and today the children got to watch as a new egg cracked and out came a baby chick. There were so many inquisitive questions and lots of deep and meaningful conversations that took place afterwards.

22.01.2022 RECYCLE, REUSE One of our clever and creative educators repurposed this broken dress up trolley in to a garden bed. Watering cans have been displayed at children’s height so that they can help take care of their environment.

21.01.2022 I just love the library! Books have nothing but happy memories for me. What is your earliest library memory? Bright Future understands how important early literacy is for future learning and to create positive dispositions towards reading

21.01.2022 Mirrors in the classroom? Why? There are so many benefits to mirror play. It starts with babies as they learn to identity themselves and study their movements and physical features. However mirror play is powerful for people of all ages. Children that are learning to talk can benefit from speaking in to a mirror and seeing how their face and tongue moves; it an help them to copy and produce adult sounds. Adults can also benefit from mirror play; are you happy with the person staring back at you? Daily positive affirmations into a mirror are powerful and it’s never too early or late to start.

20.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW? In Australia, around 25% of school aged children and 20% of preschoolers are above a healthy weight. Its not always easy to tell if a child is a ...healthy weight for their age and height. Children need to grow, but they are healthiest if they stay within a certain weight range as they grow. This is called the healthy weight range. As part of every visit to a hospital or community health centre (including visiting your local Speech Pathologist) children will begin to have their height and weight checked. If the child or young person is above a healthy weight you might be given strategies to help or be referred to the NSW Get Healthy Service or Go4Fun - a NSW GOV program. This will soon become a routine check that happens for every child every visit.

20.01.2022 FINE MOTOR A clever little activity from @learningatheart that takes a little bit of adult prep time. The results are amazing and theres so many learning opportunities in this, including colour, shape and fine-motor skills. @learningatheart

20.01.2022 A simple yet highly effective activity that builds mathematical thinking, fine motor skills, concentration and perseverance. You could use play dough, marshmallows or blu-tac with tooth picks or dry spaghetti. @learning_with_mali_and_v

20.01.2022 The natural connections children make to formal learning through the use of open ended and naturalistic resources should be a motivation to all adults to ensure that these are freely available to young children both indoors and outdoors. Eric Erickson @themagicofplay

19.01.2022 Yoga has always been an element of relaxation that allows people the chance to discover more about themselves through meditative and physical means. Today we utilised Yoga as a way to share an adventure with our peers. Our adventure began with a journey down a river in a boat, arriving at the mountain we proceeded to climb upwards towards the peak. Climbing through a tunnel we found lots of scorpions and bats. Each animal forced us to react in a different way with our bodily movements. Reaching the inside the of mountain we located our treasure and stretched as far as our bodies would go to reach it. However, as we took the treasure we soon found the mountain shaking and shuddering..... We have to escape!

16.01.2022 National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is an annual campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. NSS2018's book is Hickory Dickory Dash written by Tony Wilson, illustrated by Laura Wood and published by Scholastic. At 11am today readers across Australia read this very book at the same time from homes, schools, childcare’s. We joined NSS at both centres today. Did you join this year?

10.01.2022 SENSORY PLAY We had lots of fun today at our @soundsations_qld class exploring Self-Identity. There were lots of reflections, self-portraits and songs about body parts.

10.01.2022 At Bright Future we recognise childrens health is very important - including teeth. But we also know just how busy life can be organising visits to the dentist. We assist our parents by providing this service at the centre. Last week we had a visit from the Dental 2 You ladies who did an amazing job with our little ones. A full report will be sent to parents of children who participated so they know whether follow up treatment is required. We will offer this service every 6-12 months.

10.01.2022 We value the diversity of our community and recognise the indigenous people of our area through respectful interactions and acknowledgement. Our Toddlers and Junior Kindy room from our Eight Mile Plains centre collaborated to make a beautiful piece of artwork for our reception area for NAIDOC week.

09.01.2022 "Bees need flowers, so one of the simplest things you can do to help our native bees is to plant as many flowers as you can. Aim for a mix of species, with some...thing in bloom at all times of the year. Some native bees feed primarily on native plants, while others are less picky. Native plant species such as callistemon, brachyscome and melaleuca are good choices, as are non-natives like perennial basil, salvias and lavenders."

09.01.2022 Thought-provoking (or maybe inspiring - if you pack your childrens lunches). Which one do you think your kids would like best?

09.01.2022 The toddler children at our Eight Mile Plains centre enjoy some sensory play sheep shearing today. To replicate at home youll need: a laminated sheep picture, some whipped cream and a window squeegee or butter knife They have been participating in some wonderful Farm related activities this week.

09.01.2022 We are huge fans of repurposing furniture. This old coffee table makes the perfect play space that can be closed to conceal the mess. I can see hours of play from this beautiful space. @ournaturalnook

08.01.2022 Worm Farm Start Up This morning we started on our wonderful worm farm. We began by reading the instructions about what we need to make a successful worm farm. We gathered around and spoke about what worms eat and where they live and why having a worm farm is so cool. We then headed out to the garden where we collected some straw and dirt from the garden beds, we made sure to only take a small amount from each garden because the flowers needed the straw too. The instruction...s said that we can use lots of different bases to help our worms grow and so we decided to try three different methods, wet cardboard, a wet cotton shirt and wet newspaper. We put all 3 bases down and then added the straw. I gathered the children around the bases and asked them what was missing.where is the dirt Yusuf asked me, we need some soil dont we? I replied we need worms Eli shouted, yes we do need worms in our worm farm I told everyone. Food food they need food Alina came rushing over to tell me. Yep we need some food scraps too I added to the list. I need to go to Bunnings! I said and Eli laughed and said I like Bunnings The worm farm is not quite complete but after my trip to Bunnings we should be ready to start farming. Watch this space for wormy updates. See more

08.01.2022 SCIENCE Did you know that it’s never too early to start exploring scientific concepts with your children. This is a simple #kmartplaytray with bi-carb and coloured vinegar. Your child can explore colour mixed and acid-base chemical reactions whilst having fun. @early_childhood_fun101

07.01.2022 MESSY PLAY It’s not just fun, it’s also really good for development. However not all children enjoy getting their hands dirty. It’s important to go slow, positively encourage and take a relaxed approach to messy play. Do your children love it or loathe it?

07.01.2022 All in a Kindy Day Our study of emotion continues as we build our ability to show resilience. Today we utilised a purpose-built board game to identify different aspects of a potential Kindy Day. Starting with drop off we move the token around the board, 3 at a time because most of us are 3. During our travel we will reach either a heart or a star. Selecting a matching card we get to see what type of event is taking place. ... It might be as simple as building a huge tower! Or losing your hat, Sandwiches for lunch? Or chocolate cake for afternoon Tea! We might fall over while playing or get a chance to dance. Each element makes up our Kindy day and it is up to us to identify whether each aspect of the day is inheritently Green or Blue. Eventually we reach the finale at Home Time and its time to tally up our collection of Green and Blue, was it mostly a happy day or was it a sad one? The objective of this activity is to once again show children that although some sad things can happen during our day to make us not feel great we may have had 4 amazing things happen thus making the day an overall success, despite the occasional setback.
