23.01.2022 Covid-19 has brought many changes. To flatten the Curve we had to change our then-current routine and basically live an existence mainly at home. We couldn't go out, do social or recreational activities and most of us started getting comfortable doing less, watching Netflix, and eating more. In the end, we were successful in flattening the COVID-Curve , but the effects of staying at home had certain negative effects on our bodies and minds (I'm sure not all, but a fair perc...entage of us). After having a good look in the mirror, it became clear, it's time to flatten our own Curves a bit. Luckily the restrictions have now slowly eased, we can get out a bit more as Gyms are now open. So if you need to get rid of a few Kg's or just want to start moving again, why not this coming week? Contact us if you're interested. Our Classes are limited to 10 people and we have heaps of space and equipment. With that, you can still keep your safe distance, while hanging out with like-minded people.

22.01.2022 I think I've heard all the excuses under the sun. By far my favorite is I am not fit enough to start this But saying this is like saying I am too dirty to have a shower Let that sink in for a second... Fact is you are dirty when you don’t wash.... Same as, you are unfit because you don’t exercise. So to change this, you have to do the very thing you are trying to avoid One step at a time, and bit by bit you will get better at it.... The best time to start was yesterday. Yes, this process isn’t easy, it's intimidating and it's a huge hurdle of self doubt But we are here for you to make the process as seamless as possible. You can count on us for guidance, for support and education We have helped countless others just like you through the often daunting step of simply getting started YES! YOU CAN DO THIS! Waiting won’t get you any closer to your goals. . . #healthfitness #wherefithappens #strength #gym #workout #wod #exercise #funtionalfitness #nevergiveup #behappy #noexcuses #nevertooold See more

20.01.2022 5 Benefits of Exercise for Seniors and Aging Adults You’ve heard it time and again: physical activity and exercise are good for you, and you should aim to make them part of your routine. There are countless studies that prove the important health benefits associated with exercise, and it becomes more important as we age. Regular physical activity helps improve mental and physical health, both of which will help you maintain your independence as you age. Below, we've outlined... five benefits of exercise for seniors and aging adults. 1. Prevent Disease Studies have shown that maintaining regular physical activity can help prevent many common diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes. Exercise improves overall immune function, which is important for seniors as their immune systems are often compromised. Even light exercise, such as walking, can be a powerful tool for preventable disease management. 2. Improved Mental Health The mental health benefits of exercise are nearly endless. Exercise produces endorphins (the feel good hormone), which act as a stress reliever and leaves you feeling happy and satisfied. In addition, exercise has been linked to improving sleep, which is especially important for older adults who often suffer from insomnia and disrupted sleep patterns. 3. Decreased Risk of Falls Older adults are at a higher risk of falls, which can prove to be potentially disastrous for maintaining independence. Exercise improves strength and flexibility, which also help improve balance and coordination, reducing the risk of falls. Seniors take much longer to recover from falls, so anything that helps avoid them in the first place is extremely important. 4. Social Engagement Whether you join a walking group, go to group fitness classes or visit a gardening club, exercise can be made into a fun social event. Maintaining strong social ties is important for aging adults to feel a sense of purpose and avoid feelings of loneliness or depression. The key is to find a form of exercise you love, and it will never feel like a chore again. 5. Improved Cognitive Function Regular physical activity and fine-tuned motor skills benefit cognitive function. Countless studies suggest a lower risk of dementia for physically active individuals, regardless of when you begin a routine. Conclusion Exercise is good for you; it’s just a matter of making it a priority and a habit in your daily life. In the aging population, exercise has been shown to prevent disease, lower the risk of falls, improve mental health and well-being, strengthen social ties, and improve cognitive function. Regardless of your age, we hope this will motivate you to incorporate exercise into your life.

08.01.2022 4 Reasons to Keep Exercising During the Holidays During the holidays, it’s tempting to throw your workouts by the wayside with the promise to start again after the New Year. Research shows that when regular exercise stops, de-training occurs within a few weeks. It's better to shift to maintenance workouts than to stop altogether and lose what you've worked so hard to gain. Even if you need to reduce the time of each session or cut back one workout a week, maintaining the mome...ntum of your regular exercise routine is much easier than stopping and trying to re-establish it again later. Exercise can also be a valuable tool to get you through the challenges of the holiday season. Here are 4 reasons why you should give yourself the gift of regular exercise. Holiday Weight Gain The holidays are a high-risk time for gaining weight. Exercise can combat this risk by burning calories, and by maintaining muscle mass which sustains metabolic rate. Holiday Stress Shopping, increased food preparation, frequent visitors, and managing finances all lead to increased stress. Exercise promotes the release of hormones that improve mood and reduce feelings of anxiety. See 4 Ways Exercise Reduces Stress and Improves Mood. Seasonal Depression As we approach the winter solstice, the season chips away at our daylight hours. For many people, this can lead to varying degrees of seasonal depression. Exercise can reduce symptoms of depression and elevate mood. Performing an outdoor workout during the daylight hours provides additional benefits by increasing sunlight exposure. Exercise Provides Structure One of the main culprits associated with stress, depression, and weight gain is a reduction in structure within daily routines. Maintaining your exercise schedule provides structure to your day. The routine will help you stay on track with food intake, aid in maintenance of sleep schedules, and provide a framework so you can prioritize the demands of the holiday season. Exercise a Habit so make yours a healthy one.
