25.01.2022 Good luck to everyone racing this weekend! Melbourne marathon Saki Sharpey Neil ... Half marathon Chris H Kiz Kev Hefei 70.3 Huddo Look forward to seeing everyone smash it out See more

24.01.2022 Ride details for tomorrow Meet CT @ 6am TT efforts rosebud hills loop 120k+ Run 4-10k off the bike

24.01.2022 About to tackle the Two Bays Run for the 11th straight year! Clearly the most underprepared I've been for it, could be a long day! Lucky #huddostrong will be driving the pace for me

24.01.2022 Writing a program for one of your athletes who is doing a double IM is fun, until he talks you into his midweek long ride of 200k! Couldn't of asked for a better day though! Now just need a way to store my choc milk in a more aero position!

24.01.2022 Good luck to JP, sharpey and Sophie all racing up at noosa this weekend! For everyone still in Melbourne, we are leaving CT at 6am for sorrento loop! With less than 2 months to go until the BG classic it's prime time to work out the race strategy :)

23.01.2022 Severe DOMS after Two Bays yesterday! I'd like to think it was because I pushed myself harder than ever before, but unfortunately I think it is more related to lack of conditioning and preparation for the race!

23.01.2022 Bodpod composition testing via the Bodpod! The most accurate and reliable method of detecting changes in body fat % and lean muscle mass. I see many endurance athletes focus on becoming 'lighter' on the scales, without any regard as to where the weight is being lost from (lean muscle Vs body fat). So don't assume that because your weight is down that is a good thing. If it's because you've lost lean muscle which many endurance athletes are predisposed to because of high training volumes then your performance will suffer

23.01.2022 Cam Glynn doing his initial FTP testing prior to IM South Africa

22.01.2022 All-star line up at swimming tonight! Shame Naomi and Saki didn't come because they were scared of the sharks :) further disappointment in jamo, sharpey, Theo and chris who were to frightened to swim around the cerebus! At least the 3 guys who actually swim like wounded seals made it around with all their limbs! #huddostrong #camactive

20.01.2022 Great morning for a ride with the crew today! But that run off the bike wasn't fast or pretty :)

19.01.2022 Heat and altitude session with Dean Jamieson, Peter Hudson and Luke Bell. Between us all we have 2 IM victories, several 70.3 wins, 3 ultraman finishes and a 10+ kona finishes :)

19.01.2022 Well done to 'Big' Mike Matulick over in Hawaii 70.3. I challenged Mike to really put it on the line in Kona and he certainly did, being right up the pointy end after swim and bike! Unfortunately faded on the run, guess 200cm guys aren't built for Kona! Unfortunately Kylie had a freak accident running into the surf last week (falling in a pot hole) and breaking her ankle. She is on crutches and in a boot, but will be ready in time to crush mooloolaba 70.3 worlds! Awesome to see Naomi back running again, taking out 4th in the 12k trail run. Now the focus shifts to Ironman Cairns where Jamo takes on the 70.3 and sharpey and nick Roberts tackle the full distance!

18.01.2022 Swim squad with the great man Johnny VW

18.01.2022 And with 2 simple words 'I'm back' David Swan sent shivers through the group this morning as he put on an absolute clinic!

16.01.2022 With over 75years of triathlon experience between them, it was great to see these two legends crossing swords again! Fair to say there no was no such thing as carbon fibre, GPS watches and power meters when they first started!

14.01.2022 Polarized training or 80/20! This concept of training seems to be getting a lot more popular in mainstream endurance training! Initially it evolved from the notion that most athletes (particularly AG) tend to do their easy training too hard and there hard training not hard enough! I completely agree with this as it is a mistake I see many athletes make! However the concept of a polarized training plan has one MASSIVE issue! If you do 80% of your training below AeT (aerobic threshold) and 20% above AT (anaerobic threshold) you are completely ignoring the zone that you should be racing in, which others refer to as the 'grey zone'! So by all means make sure you include some training at either end of the intensity spectrum but never at the total exclusion of your threshold training!

14.01.2022 If you are aiming to peak for a race aim to get your Training Stress Balance between +15 to 25! As you can see in the report below this athlete is in a big block of training and carrying a lot of fatigue, so they certainly are not ready to PB! *Some athletes will perform best with a TSB of +5 to 10 so learn what suits each athlete individually and then you plan and prepare accurately!

14.01.2022 FTP testing @ 3400m @ 25 degrees! No shows from Jamo, Huddo, Chris... guess it's a solo effort this morning! Don't think these numbers are going to be anything to get excited about :)

12.01.2022 We have a good crew set this Sunday's Sandy point run. In the 10k we have Steve Cresswell Kirrily mason In the half marathon we have ... Chris Horvath Saki Miyaki Mike Matulick Mel Ades Kev Murray Pete Hudson Neil Fletcher And.... Courtney Langley making her debut at the half marathon distance! Look forward to seeing everyone out there See more

11.01.2022 I'd usually be pretty satisfied with today's training which consisted of a 4K swim followed by 180k ride! But Huddo completed exactly double that, and he is then backing it up with a 84km run! Absolute champion #huddostrong Keep an eye on him running through bayside all through the night tonight

11.01.2022 As an exercise physiologist it's important to understand that everyone responds to the same stimulus differently! So what works for one athlete might not be appropriate for you! However there is 1 thing that ALL athletes respond to and that's hard work! So go put yourself in the hurt locker

11.01.2022 Capturing Cameron Glynn capture the unique photo of a bike with a beach backdrop! Cam doing the extra Ks whilst the other lads smash donuts

10.01.2022 Good luck to everyone doing cairns tomorrow! Particularly Jamo in the 70.3 and sharpey and Robo in the full! Also to all those athletes who prepared inside the chamber, look forward to tracking you all!

10.01.2022 The cycling kit has finally arrived! Awesome job by jaggad :)

08.01.2022 If you want to make sure you've executed a perfect ride in either a half or full ironman, be sure to look at your VI (variability index). In my opinion it is the best measure of assessing how well you paced your ride! VI is the difference between your normalized power and your average power! The closer these numbers are the better you have paced yourself! As a guide keep them within 5% of each other

08.01.2022 Huddo smashing out Arthur's seat repeats! Finally no wind :)

08.01.2022 After a short hiatus there was plenty of racing done over the weekend! Sri Chinmoy 30k Mel 2:20 2nd place 21k... Saki 1:40 6th place 10k Chris 46mins Duathlon JP returned with a 1:15 and 11th You Yangs 30k Naomi 1st female overall Park Run (Chelsea) Courtney 26mins 3rd female Special mention to Sakis partner Stpehen Rennick who won the 100k on the Saturday, and apparently ran the half marathon the following day w saki! Also unconfirmed reports Dan Bowen was flying around the You Yangs 15k! See more

06.01.2022 Another great morning in Melbourne. This was taken about 30mins before jamo's epic crash! Luckily the great man survived with only a few little cuts and bruises, unfortunately the banana in his back pocket wasn't as lucky!

06.01.2022 Set Chris Horvath the task of hitting 250W for his next FTP test, which was a significant increase! As you can see below, he nailed it with 258W. It's important to continually re-test FTP to ensure you continue to train in the appropriate power zones! As you get fitter those 'old' numbers become redundant and if you don't alter them you won't get improvement

04.01.2022 Putting the science into action! Steve Cresswell followed his race plan perfectly! Aiming to ride at 95-99% of FTP and paced evenly, which we measure by keeping his variability index below 1.05! No surprise why he ran so well

03.01.2022 The comeback is real! Dean Jamieson knocking out swim squad and altitude bike session all before 9am! Get down to Gatorade on Sunday to see the great man in action! Good luck to Huddo who is knocking out a triple run day tomorrow in preparation for his double IM attempt!

03.01.2022 It's taken me a while to post this as I'm still coming to terms with CVB winning the BG classic again Xmas eve! You'll notice from this video he sat at the very back of the group all day :) Thanks for everyone who came along, see you all again in 50 weeks haha

02.01.2022 Well done to Michael Sharpe getting through his second IM, he made some big improvements this season! Also to Nick Roberts smashing his debut IM and also raising over $10K for MND. Jamo didn't reach his goals in the 70.3 but still classy in pushing through to the end! Also Saki smashed out the 10k at run Forrest and came 5th female overall!

01.01.2022 Well done to everyone who did the sandy point run on the weekend! I usually have pretty big expectations of my athletes, so it's still great when some of them surprise me and really go beyond expectations! 10k Kirrily 44:23 5th *super effort after long injury lay off, was aiming for 47 Steve Cresswell 48:30... *ill be honest I was expecting around mid 50's, massive run! 1/2 marathon Chris / big mike looked solid for 1:36 Saki strong as always 1:39 7th Mel so fast I missed her 1:31 2nd Kev / Neil 2:01 looked super fresh Pistol Pete Hudson 1:38 after backing up a solid run from Saturday Courtney's long awaited debut in 2:06 *basically spent the entire run asking for snacks or telling me to go ahead so I can get good position for photos haha Very proud of each persons effort on the day! Well done See more
