23.01.2022 A few photos of our old home in Hurstbridge. We lived there for just over 5 years. We were so happy with what we had created, we wanted to introduce a modern adaptation that was practical and also hardwearing for our 2 boisterous Border Collies. It is frustrating at times renovating you home that you are living in. The floors throughout were once Baltic Pine but the dogs made short work of that. I installed a ‘wood look’ floor tile instead. These were amazing and after 2 yea...rs they still looked like the day I laid them. I have always been confused about bathtubs, I’m not one to use them and I don’t know many people that do, however you must have one! To make the bathroom a little more comfortable and to attract use of the bath I installed a tv. I can now say, tv in the bathroom is awesome. As well as the aesthetics being updated so too was the structure of the home. The objective was to transform the home into one that was produced the least amount of operational impact on the environment, was comfortable and had very low bills. We introduced insulation to the walls, ceilings and floors. We replaced the roof tiles for colorbond with insulation too. We had a solar power system installed. I replaced the existing electric hot water service for a heat pump hot water service. I replaced the cooktop for induction and then disconnected the gas line from the grid. I installed hydronic heating with the assistance of my brother/plumber but the special part with this heating is the fact that it boils the water from the wood heater and pumps that hot water into every room. The entire hydronic system also pre-heats the hot water for the hot water service too. We loved living in this home, it was a sad day when we left but the best part is, I can do it all over again.

22.01.2022 Today marks the completion of a major structural component on our South Yarra project. The first 2 shots are before photos, the client requested that the ground floor wall looking out at the pool should be entirely made up of 4 French style double steel doors, this required the removal of the 1 metre wide brick pier in between the doors and installation on new beams, columns and footings. To achieve this we had to -prop the wall to support the upper floor, -remove the exist...ing lintels, -remove bricks and clean, -install a new custom lintel, -re-instate the overhead brickwork, -remove the existing footing, -prepare a new larger footing with cast-in plates, -install new columns, -concrete footing, -remove propping... JOB DONE!

08.01.2022 It’s a messy and complicated job. Where I am standing when I took this photo was once underground but now I am on a scaffold 4 metres in the air. All the space you see below the steel was rock and soil that has been painstakingly removed over the last 2+ years. This area will soon have a new ground floor structure that we are building to seperate the living room to the underground vehicle Roundtable and car stacker. Behind that plywood on the back wall is the existing open fireplace made from marble.

01.01.2022 Steel delivery to our client in South Yarra. 1 ton of pure back pain for all of us onsite over the next few weeks. #steel #construction #heavylifting #delivery #happyclient
