14.01.2022 Dear parents, if you can spare a couple of hours on Sat 21 July, your help will be greatly appreciated. Any youth members attending, please wear uniform. We need cooks, servers and prep people. Please contact Shelli and Ben Allen via Burleigh Heads Scout Group page and inform them of your availability. This is a great way to meet parents from other sections also.

02.01.2022 Burleigh Scouts is like any other organisation, we are only as good as the people involved in the group. But like any other organisation, people come and go. Ro...land Franz and Anthony Watt are moving on as Group Leaders for Burleigh. They have put in a tremendous effort over many years to get the group to where it currently is and we thank them for their efforts. In the traditional scout thank you B-R-A-V-O!! Anthony has stepped down already and Roland will step down as Group Leader at the end of September. Roland will be looking to start the Burleigh Scouts Fellowship, as a support group for Burleigh Scouts. More information will be posted on this over the coming months. James Batho (Hathi Cub Leader) will step into the Group Leader role and Simon McMahon (Falcon Joey Leader) into the Assistant Group Leader role. Both are excited about taking on this new challenge and we all look forward to helping them move Burleigh Scouts forward. It’s vital to the survival of the group that we get new people come in all the time. We welcome Deslyn McIntyre who has taken on the Treasurer role. We have had Vanessa and John Parker step up to be Scout and Venturer leaders. Sid joins us in Venturers with a raft of experience And just the other week we had Nicky Greenway sign up as a Cub leader (sorry if I have missed anyone, I’m not 100% sure of when everyone joined but everyone’s contributions are extremely valued). However, there is more opportunity for people to join us and make a difference. New leaders across all sections are always welcome. Cubs have recently split into two sections due to growth so more leaders there would be a big help. However, we are in real need of scout leaders. Thursday Scouts had to recently merge with Wednesday Scouts because we couldn’t provide full time leaders for Thursday night. Allan Cripps will be moving on at the end of the year, so it's imperative we get people to volunteer for leader roles. Please consider stepping up now. It will be much easier to ease your way in while we have a number of leaders present to help you. If you have a cub who is keen to move up to scouts, you’d be an ideal candidate! If you don’t think you can handle a leader role, then there is other opportunity for you! I am looking to step down as Chairman for the Group Executive Committee. I’ve been here for five years and feel it’s time to move on. I've mixed emotions about it. I am really keen to work with James and Simon but at the same time feel that I've probably contributed as much as I can and it's time for someone to step in with new ideas and vigour! What I would like to see happen is someone volunteer to the role and work with me over a period of several months to provide a smooth changeover for James and Simon and the new chairman. It took us 18 months to get a replacement treasurer, I am hoping we can get a new chairman more quickly! I know a number of parents have expressed interest in being a leader but the time commitment is too difficult to manage. In that case, the Chairman role is for you! It’s much more time-flexible than a leader role but, I would like to think, still pretty important. If you can’t help with a formal role, please still keep yourself available. Any help in doing a bit of cleaning or transport for camps or assistance on the night is greatly appreciated. If you need any details about how you can help, please contact me for further details or talk to any of the leaders.

02.01.2022 Hi Cubs, don't forget that the next two weeks we are working on your space badge. Check out your yellow books or look at the free Scouts Oz app.

01.01.2022 Another Christmas craft idea
