06.01.2022 In preparation for this weekend’s LNC Championships, if you are requiring uniforms for the event the uniform shop will be open at the surf club on Thursday afternoon from 5.15pm to 5.45pm for last minute purchases. Good Luck to all our members competing.

06.01.2022 With a heavy heart we have to announce the cancellation of this years Weekend of Surf. We held off as long as possible, but with the new guidelines introduced ...last week in regards to sport outside your own area, this pretty much put a stop to the carnival. We realize that the guidelines are for only 6 weeks, but the date falls only 4 days short of when the carnival is meant to run. It may lift in time, but we cannot say for sure and we know people are already having issues in regards to accommodation so the decision had to be made. At this point also we are only allowed 500 people in an outside sporting event. Which we would struggle with as well. We thank everyone for their continued support of our carnival and we hope to see you all back next year for our 25th Anniversary of the Weekend of Surf.

04.01.2022 Another little piece of history found! Thanks again Beth And if youd like a history lesson on what a smoke social is ... Large groups of Australian men gathered in a venue to smoke tobacco together in what they termed a smoke night. These lasted until the early 1940s. These events were socially significant, and often coupled with a formal dinner, an annual general meeting or a musical revue. While the full spectrum of Australian men participated in smoke socialsfrom Parliamentarians through to Port Kembla workersthe smoke night held an allure of classy behaviour and social respectability for participating men. Smoke socials were run by football clubs, charitable organizations, civic organizations, trade unions, and governments.
