25.01.2022 Got 5 minutes to complete this cool, fun survey?! If you're enjoying the new pop-up lanes in City of Sydney, let them know! This is a great opportunity to provide feedback and potentially make some of these lanes permanent. Link to the form is in the comments.

24.01.2022 Another beautiful vintage cruiser restored and gone to great home. Nicola works with Katie and Jen at the Children's Hospital, who recently also got sweet cruisers. She decided to start commuting by bike for safety, exercise and mental health support and reached out to us for a bike, which we were more than happy to provide. When she picked it up she shared that they have another female co-worker who is keen cyclist and has been really encouraging and sharing hot tips on route selection. How amazing is that?! Our cycling community is growing so fast right now, it's awesome to hear little stories like this of cyclists supporting each other, because let's be honest, Sydney can be a tricky place to ride. Look out for how you can support new riders and always share a good route!!

24.01.2022 A lovely note we had to share. Louisa is another local hero that is working with our very vulnerable elderly community and BG is so proud that we were able to help her discover a couple of extra benefits of cycling to work- fitness and fun! With this lovely warm weather moving in, who wouldn't want to be out there riding?

24.01.2022 This very recognisable Gary Fisher bike was stolen yesterday from its locked spot on Lusty street in Wolli Creek. Poor Selyn is devastated and missing her ride. Please share widely and get in contact with BG if spotted.

22.01.2022 FOR SALE - $80 Yepp maxi rack mounted kids seat. Fits long tail cargo bikes such as Yuba, Ezee and Tern or on rear Yepp rack/adaptor. Great condition and kindly donated to us to help raise money for our bike build program.

19.01.2022 Esme is ready for the school term on this sweet little step-thru Progear. Her parents got in touch as she'd well and truly grown out of her last 'kids' bike. With their work majorly affected by COVID, they requested help through our program to get her a new bike, which was our pleasure. Now with lights, lock rear rack and high-vis, she is a bone fide commuter! Hope she gets a few years out of this bike, until the next major growth spurt at least. Thanks to her Dad who came along to help her pick up the bike!

13.01.2022 Ok folks time to sharpen your pencil and give your opinions on some new bike lanes! As a group that actually rides and would benefit from safer riding infrastructure your voice is extremely important here. https://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au//have-your-say-new-cyc

09.01.2022 This weekend we were so happy to make a donation of $1000 to the International Shift. We wanted to support their amazing work running a soup kitchen feeding vulnerable folks all around the inner west and now producing beautiful masks to help keep us safe. The lovely staff are all asylum seekers and refugees, which means they have been unable to receive any government support to get the through this wild time. The International Shift is an offshoot of the social enterprise caf...e Parliament on King. We have been able to give some bikes to folks working there but wanted to do more to help these local legends. When two brand new Chapelli bikes were donated to us we decided to sell them for $500 each and donate the profits. It was a win-win situation, as two people have beautiful new bikes and the International Shift have some extra funds to keep their programs going. You can support them by visiting the cafe on the weekend, look for our novelty cheque on the shelf, at 632 King Street or buy a mask through parliament-on-king.square.site/ @ Parliament on King

09.01.2022 SOLD Teaching a child to ride a bike for the first time? What a joyful experience :) Here we have a good quality XDS 16" bike. It would suit between a 2-6 year old (but likely 3, 4, 5 years old). We've given it a revival and it's ready to roll. It also comes with training wheels (not pictured) which are easily removable for when the little one is ready. We've decided to pass this on for free, as we are about keeping cycling accessible to families too. We have a preference for it to go toward low-income family who are looking for a second hand bike on a budget (though we don't ask and just trust people to self-identify) Pick up Sydney Park Cycling Centre (St Peters/ Newtown) 6-9 tonight ideally! (Can also arrange for pick up other weeknights though our opening hours are limited as we are all volunteers).

07.01.2022 Excellent short cycling film! "Pedal Through invites us into the world of director-lead Analise Cleopatra as she discovers the healing and joy of mountain biking. Analise had never camped or ridden a bike off the pavement when she decided to plan a week-long mountain biking adventure with an all Black female team: her best friend and fellow newcomer to the sport, DeJuanae Toliver, and professional mountain biker Brooklyn Bell. Together, they traverse the Oregon backcountry on... an adventure full of exploration, curiosity, waterfalls, old growth forest, sparkling starscapes, and deep healing. With raw authenticity, Analise shares all the intimate foibles, fear, fun, and beauty of discovering her place in the outdoors. The landscape opens to greet her as she learns to lean into uncertainty, accept support and trust herself on this wild ride." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uom8RGtCqWY&ab_channel=REI

06.01.2022 Another bike to another good home! This weekend we had the pleasure of delivering a bike to super lovely (and tall) teenager who has come to Australia with his family as refugees. This amazing kid is the oldest of 5 with a single Mum who needs help getting groceries. An advocate working with his family reached out to us through a connection from the Mum's for Refugees FB group, to request a bike. He has had a big growth spurt and required an XL size with plenty of storage cap...acity. This Giant Iguana came to us with a seized seat post and stem but we wrestled them both free and ended up with this really cool and fun ride. We also pumped up the cargo capacity with front and rear baskets. When we delivered it he immediately did some sick skids, so we knew we gotten it right as far as the fun factor. Hopefully those groceries don't go flying! It was such a great result we will be returning with more bikes for their younger siblings soon! See more

05.01.2022 A lovely note we had to share. 05.01.2022 This public high school teacher needs a ride! Jimmy has to commute daily from Kensington to Dover Heights. He has been taking two buses that take well over an hour, but a student who also lives in Kensington told him that he rides it in 40 mins and passes him every day! So Jimmy reached out hoping to shorten his commute and also enjoy it a bit more. We were excited to match-make Jimmy with this sweet Specialized Sirrus. The Sirrus was donated to us from a guy who said he just... rode it completely into the ground then decided to upgrade. Makes for a straightforward full service repair on our end, replacing all the consumable parts like chain, cassette, brake pads, and both brake and gear cables. When Jimmy rocked up to get the bike he came with a front wicker basket, which he said was the only thing worth saving from his old bike! He has reported back he's loving his new commute and enjoying the challenge of a big hill by looking for a way around it! See more

03.01.2022 Connor needed a bike to get to his shifts as a paramedic in South Sydney. He was also after something to get him around his neighbourhood and down to the beach on his days off! The wait time for a suitable bike in his size and price range was looking to be months at the earliest, as many suppliers are completely out of stock. This classic Oz Cycles 80's road bike came in and we immediately dug the vintage decals and almost perfect condition of the frame. We love old steel road bikes like this and give them the Bicycle Garden 'resto-mod' treatment where possible. Steel wheels are replaced with alloy ones and drop bars are converted to flat bars, with bar or stem shifters. The result is a lovely vintage bike with some safer, more modern upgrades. Connor is stoked on the new bike and got down to Cronulla on it ASAP!

03.01.2022 Thoughts from New York on what bike co-ops can do in the face of large scale, long term disasters like elections.
