25.01.2022 People will ride the streets tomorrow morning to say no to "Driver's Month". If you don't agree with encouraging MORE CARS into the city you might like to join in. https://actionnetwork.org//no-to-drivers-month-bicycle-s/

24.01.2022 WHO has issued physical activity guidance for the first time in a decade. Summary: we're more and more sedentary and need to do more exercise, especially given the pandemic. Adults need 150 mins/week of moderate to vigorous activity, preferably outside (IDK, maybe ride a bike?). Pregnant women, new mums and adolescents are specifically mentioned. Fitness trackers get a tick, as people tend to over-estimate how active they really are.

22.01.2022 Cool sculpture, if you don't mind doing all the work!

22.01.2022 Barcelona isn't just doing superblocks, it's doing "superblocks light" as a more politically feasible initiative in retail areas. Sometimes, you need a toolbox of options, but that doesn't mean you have to throw away the entire concept.

20.01.2022 More pop-up bikeways for NSW. What's not obvious from the media releases, etc, is that working at the local-level has brought TfNSW face-to-face with the ways its processes and demands make life difficult for councils trying to deliver projects. We hope that the learnings will eventually inform state transport authorities like DIT. Corey Wingard

19.01.2022 And a follow up for young riders-to-be.

17.01.2022 Change is possible.

16.01.2022 What to do with a polluted, car-dominated road taking traffic through the heart of the city? 1) Adelaide: widen, knock down houses, maybe put it in a trench. (Consultation on what type of street trees to plant around the paved horror.) 2) Paris: hey, how about we create an ecological wonderland garden?

15.01.2022 For those in the east... NPSP will be opening a temporary wheel park in the Fogolan Furlan car park. Opening event 16 January.

14.01.2022 It would be interesting to contrast this with Google map's cycling routes, where "cycle-friendly street" is code for "arterial road with no treatment".

12.01.2022 Melbourne traders given outdoor dining parklets as a coronavirus response now prefer people to car parking and are lobbying for the parklets to remain. What about the loss of precious parking? "Catch a tram."

11.01.2022 Active Transport in NPSP By incorporating even a little physical activity into your daily routine can deliver a host of benefits for your physical and mental well-being. Visit our website and learn what our active transport initiatives are.

09.01.2022 It's sad when you're not sure whether the moniker "the city that hates bikes" is about your city. Glad to see Sydney has turned a corner. We thought we had with Frome St, but between Team Adelaide and the Dept of Transport's road building agenda, there's a long way to go.

09.01.2022 Could we be the"Paris of the south"? Yes, but not the way we're going. :(

08.01.2022 A great initiative!

08.01.2022 Major road project Dutch style: this roundabout upgrade will increase capacity for cars. It also includes two bridges to separate bikes from cars. Meanwhile, at Fullarton/Glen Osmond intersection...

08.01.2022 WHAT A SENSATIONAL EFFORT!!! Bike riders of the year!! Read on for the full story on the RUBBISH RIDERS from Rhonda. "On Monday 16th Nov we did our first clean-up on the new Tapa Martinthi Yala Shared Use Path on a 3 km section that runs adjacent to the recently completed Northern Connector. We are a group of cyclists who very much enjoy using this new track, which in this section, passes through some very old salt harvesting areas. Unfortunately, since the expressway, this ...area is now filling up with litter blown off work vehicles and trucks or thrown out or passing cars. It is so sad to witness this beautiful, unique and pristine area, which is part of our SA history, being spoiled. We are passionate about protecting it before it turns into a rubbish dump. So, we have made a start. Just 3 of us did the first clean-up, as a trial run, to work out the logistics for our next effort which will involve a few more people. There was a strong wind blowing from the south, and we started working from the north into the wind, but quickly learned it would be far easier to tackle it with the wind in our backs next time. We made use of a cycling trailer that we already had to tow the full bags of rubbish back to the starting point where the Salisbury Council could access the bike path and collect the rubbish. We collected 11 bags of rubbish and a small mattress over 3 hours of constant work. It was a great feeling of achievement. There’s much more to do and we are excited about getting it done and keeping our cycling through this area pleasant. Kesab has advised that there will be no more clean ups until further notice because of Covid. As soon as we have the all clear and there is a suitable weather day I will schedule another Rubbish Ride. Volunteers welcome !!! See more

06.01.2022 Ever wondered why it's so hard to get cycling facilities installed? UK research has found that the public overestimates opposition to bike facilities by some 50%. This probably affects decision-making (similarly to traders over-estimating the value of car parking to their businesses).

05.01.2022 At last! And the weather is great.

01.01.2022 Everyday our team works to try and change this. Our city can definitely do better by our kids :)
