22.01.2022 Just a few pointers regarding hydraulic brake systems. 1. Check disc brake pads for wear regularly and know when to replace them. Shimano pads need to be replaced at 0.9mm thickness in braking material... Sram pads need to be replace at 2.5mm thickness including backing plate 2. Check disc rotors for damage and wear regularly and know when to replace them. Shimano disc rotors should be replaced at 1.5mm in thickness on the braking track Sram disc rotors should be replaced at 1.55mm in thickness on the braking track 2. Brakes should be bled on a yearly basis or when braking performance is poor or the lever feels spongy. Shimano use mineral oil as do other companies Sram use D.O,T fluid as do other companies 3. If bleeding a brake ensure you use a bleed block or similar between the pistons to stop them from pushing out. All information regarding specific brakes will be found on the manufacturers website.
