17.01.2022 Today we take a look at another one of our 2020 trophy projects . This project was runner up in the residential over 50k category at the recent @awcinsw awards. Designed by @rotharchitecture and built by @tiffany_projects . There is so many special parts of this job , it is going to take a few weeks to show you them all.... Today we are focusing on the curved walls to the master wing. On the outside these walls were cladded with zinc cladding and then the curved wall was transferred to the inside with curved plasterboard and curved tiled walls. Now the curved walls , there pretty easy but a specially challenging detail was the 30 degree angle to the top of the curved walls , I’ve been doing this along time, it may not look like it in the pics but it’s the hardest angle I’ve ever had to set , external angles won’t bend to be this tight and the backs of the no coat would touch and wouldn’t close up to get the 30 degrees , but glad to say we got it in the end. 06.01.2022 Congratulations to next Minor Prize Winner for 2021: Craig Bietola and Bietola Interiors with this custom made skylight shaft. This custom skylight is 1/7 in th...is project, with the intention of the piece to go from an ellipse shape at the ceiling into a skylight shaft up to the glass! Each skylight in this project is different to each other and they were custom made by creating the curved pieces and then joining them, to create the shaft to be installed in 1 piece The curves were made using a reverse mould technique The team used casting plaster, cornice cement and Ultra Top, with plasterboard as the ceiling plane We will be announcing a new Minor Prize winner every business day throughout August (and our Major Winner once we have met all the minor winners) - so stay tuned for tomorrow's winner!
