18.01.2022 Big job from the weekend. Customers engine had a number of oil leaks and we determined it would be more cost/time efficient to remove the engine to carry out the repairs. While the engine was out the clutch was replaced, engine mounts replaced as well as spark plugs and the radiator. Water pump was replaced only a few weeks ago. Now to refit it.

16.01.2022 Very busy week this week. A number of leak repairs starting with BMW 5 series oil filter housing gasket, a rocker cover gasket on a Toyota Rav4, water pump and oil filter housing on a Holden Cruze. Some suspension repairs including new shocks after a collapsed shock and wheel alignment out of spec causing uneven tyre wear on a Rav4 and front control arms on a Subaru... A few big jobs on a number of vehicles for a fleet company including a GPS tracker, new tail lights on a plant trailer and a major service and vehicle check over on a new Hino truck with more work to be completed this week. 15.01.2022 Carrying out a complete brake overhaul for a customer including new brake pads and rotors all round as well as sandblasting and powdercoating his calipers and giving them a complete overhaul. This is before. After still to come!

15.01.2022 This old girl got a bit of a birthday with a service and upgrading the old style sealed headlights for new style semi sealed headlights and brighter headlight glibes, allowing the customer to just change globes rather than the entire unit when a light blows.

14.01.2022 What was originally just a cylinder head replacement has now turned into a rebuild due to rusting of the bores and blocked/rusted coolant jackets in the block. Engine is coming out of the car to be disassembled and sent to the machine shop.

13.01.2022 A few big jobs on this week including major logbook service and timing belt replacement on a Hyundai I30 and a major logbook service on an LDV G10 van. Everything from a basic oil change and check over through to major services and repairs are no problem for Big Ben's Mechanical. 12.01.2022 A few of this weeks jobs. Ford falcon rear diff bushes, very common problem due to factory bushes being extremely soft to stop any noise or vibration, but this also allows the bush to flex to much and they crack and split causing a clunk on acceleration. Both falcons from BA onwards and territorys have this issue. Oil leaks can cause a number of issues apart from a mess under the vehicle and on your driveway. Oil leaks into the spark plug tubes can cause missfires and rough r...unning. Oil leaks onto rubber components cause them to swell and brake, like this fan belt and crankshaft pulley which need replacing. Similar issue happens to engine mounts when cover in oil. If you have noticed any oil spots on the ground arouns your vehicle get in contact with Big Ben's Mechanical and I will come out and inspect your vehicle for you.

07.01.2022 A few more of this weeks jobs, new CV shafts and a wheel bearing repack on an 80 series landcruiser that has just shy of 600,000km on the clock, engine mount and water pump replacement on a commodore.

07.01.2022 This was a big job over 2 days so far with some late night finishes as well! Added all new side marker lights, new LED tailights, reverse lights and number plate lights and all wired up. 2 flood lights on the headboard still to be wired up. You definately will not miss this truck driving past you at night!!

06.01.2022 Have had a few busy weeks lately! A couple of the bigger jobs, cylinder head and timing chain on a Hyundai Iload due to a spun chain. Engine swap in a Toyota Corolla due to burning oil and a lot of smoke Bullbar on a Mitsubishi Triton for a customer.

05.01.2022 Overhauling rear wheel bearings and axle seals due to a leaking seal contaminating the wheel bearing grease
