25.01.2022 A big thank you to the whole community for supporting BDFC, What a classic year for both weather and the healthy fish populations. Snapper Fishing this year was the best I've seen in 9 years big strong fish (8kg) and lots of 2/3kg fish. Fish species caught this year include, Red Emperor, Grassy Sweet Lip, Scarlet Sea Perch, Maori Cod, Big Gold Spot Cod, Tuskie's, Peal Perch, Samson fish, Black King ( Cobia), I try my best to support the new and old, experienced or not to catch the best of the fish biting on the day, take off your fish n give you a heads up in rig selection and baiting techniques. This season is coming to a close, end of December for 2018 and back fishin in April 2019. Again a BIG THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT Fishing is a great way to explore your own potential. Rick BDFC<><

25.01.2022 It takes some gut's to get the glory, hard going in the morning with 10 knot w/nw wind but they would not chew. I moved around but the Furuno showed bugger all. So being calm we moved off about 3 mile found a nice show, n put the plough down. Well some of the nicest Maori Cod, Tomato Cod, 60cm Red and a busted Rod, some smoke from reel and ear a big Red over 10kg was gone, and that is fishin. A licorice all sorts with Venus Tuskie's, (one was a horse) Grassy Sweetlip another ...nice Red and a couple more slapped around the ears by big Red Emperor ( the Red emperor won :( My friend Cassie organised the trip with family, well they chucked a bit at her, and she took it, fishin was slow on her corner of the boat for a while. I changed her rig up to a 6/0 snood, caught her a live yakka and BINGO Cassie slapped the biggest fish of the day ( as there comp rules stated) Gold Spot Cod about 10/11kg. Well after winding up and down about 40 times in 53 meters of water can take it out of you. She put the gut's in, with a little help from Adrenalin she pumped this big brute up for dinner. Great day out on the water where everyone knew everyone, hanging shit and taking it all fun day. Rick BDFC<>< See more

24.01.2022 These are the other pic's from this trip, thanks again.<><

20.01.2022 Merry Christmas to everyone, latest Fishing Charter update. We did a trip up along Fraser Island two weekends ago chasing some Big Scarlet Sea Perch and anything that was willing to have a go, well we got bashed, bruised, busted and burnt. Sharks, Sharks, Sharks and lots of them every time we hooked up onto something nice within 2 seconds it was monster-ed, spending nearly half the day up there we bagged about 4 Grass Sweetlip and only the small one's. Well when people pay y...ou money to catch fish this poses a big problem, i needed counselling felt like phoning a friend, at one point i was putting on my snorkel and flippers and about ready to swim down n bite a few of them to release my frustrations. However up come the anchor and off to a Trawler wreck down the line, best move and saved the day with some really great quality fish. We got some nice Black Spot Grunter, Scarlet and a big Snapper around 7kg and then Ian cracked a big Black King (Cobia), well it bashed him around for awhile then i took over talking terms is one of my specialties. This fish was 1.5 meters long unsure how heavy maybe 25/30kg. Great way to end our trip with everyone landing something great to put into there freezer, except me of cause did not get a cracker just would not happen on my side of the boat, but i will make up for that next time. Thanks Jame's, Steve and Ian i look forward to taking you all out again next season, check out the pic's. And a big thanks again to everyone that appreciates my Fishing Charter Business and Fishing in general, there has been so many great fish come over the side in this season and great people to boot. 09.01.2022 Hi to everyone, guess what time of years coming! Fishing Time and i can't wait. My freezer needs a couple of reef fish in it, how about yours. This season i would prefer were possible to do extended Fishing Charter's, kick off 8am at the ramp and get the best bite time 2.30pm - 8.00pm at night getting back around 9.30pm. If you check out my photo's the best (ie) biggest brute's were always caught just as the sun goes down through to 7.30pm ish. You have not seen all of my ...fishing charter photo's as some guests prefer to keep it to themselves. I only take 3 people on extended trips it is much better fishing, the cost is $350.00 p/p everything is supplied. Full day offshore is still available at $250 p/p 4 person crew everything is supplied. Thanks everyone for showing interest in my Fishing Charter's, April through to October are the best month's. I will put a photo or two up now and need a little advice (were do you put the rod holders.) Happy Fishing Rick BDFC<><

07.01.2022 Well I have always wondered what it would be like to go out for a weekend on a houseboat, So let me tell you about it. Ben from Luxury Afloat Houseboats lets me tie my charter boat up on their pontoon the night before I do a charter, going back a couple trips he had a houseboat tied up and I moored alongside. He told me to stay on his boat for the night, so I went up got a box of prawn’s and a couple of beers to add the touch. ... Best most comfortable night on any boat I have ever had, so that got me thinking about taking a vessel out for the weekend. When I rang Ben and thanked him for letting me stay that night, I spoke to him about organising a Houseboat adventure. Last weekend it happened, what a great way to spend a couple of days cruising up the Great Sandy Straits In comfort. My friend Cassie and her three kids had never done this before, so I invited them to go chase the opportunity and some Mud crabs n fishing. Getting to Gary’s anchorage, anchoring the vessel up and straight into setting the crab pots out and being able to come back to a very big comfy boat was excellent, fridge/freezer, great cooking facilities, comfy beds, hot shower and loo like home. Well maybe it was to cold, to hot I’m not sure but the crabs didn’t play the game at all, try as I might no luck (lucky I took a nice box of Endeavour prawns from Lee fishing company at Tin Can Bay) yum who needs crabs anyhow. I must admit I was on holiday and not in fishing mode, so I didn’t take my Shark Cat to go hunt up some reef fish around the district. I will be taking it next time let me give you the tip. A big THANKYOU Ben and the team at Luxury Afloat Houseboats at Tin Can Bay, it was awesome another day or two would just make it. If like me you have wondered what it would be like, ring Ben and find out what’s involved and get it cracking life is a bit too short for procrastination. Check out some photos’ that Cassie took while we were out on the Houseboat, Thanks Cassie, Zoe, Koby and Kurtis great company it was a fun weekend. 06.01.2022 Hi everyone, the weather has been average at best however we did get out and talk terms to a few. Showery day with light winds equaled some nice Squire, Scarlet Sea Perch, Grassy Sweet Lip, Mowong and a Cracker Gold Spot Cod and Amberjack. First drop one bloke hooked a legal sized fish and was fighting it when the situation changed, at about 20 foot off the bottom a Nice big healthy Gold Spot Cod decided that was his breakfast n not ours. Well a bit of a feather weight turned... into a heavy weight and what a great way to start the trip. I purchased a new Shimano 1200OC Baitrunner reel and tested it out on a nice Amberjack, one of the guests grabbed this brute for a photo and ended up on the floor with his mate taking the piss out of him. I hope to get out onto the Continental shelf line soon for a recreational trip, fishing in 65 to 150 meters of water with a winch and 150lb braid with 250lb branch lines, i will let you all know how that goes been about 6 years since i have been out to the Big drop off. Check out the photos. Cheer's Rick BDFC <><

03.01.2022 Morning Sunshine.

03.01.2022 Anyone that enjoys live music will appreciate this post, this Saturday and Sunday 17/18th November at the Wolvi Hall. The Wolvi Stomp is on, attracting many live performing artists from a folk through rock and of coarse a good loving spoonful of Blue's. Supporting a local hall with free camping, not sure how many tickets are left but if your into a great fun weekend check it out. You never know, just might see me playing some Slide Blue's around the place on my new resonator Guitar, many friends from all age groups meet here, come make some new friends to. Rick BDFC<><
