18.01.2022 LOCALISED FLOODING IN ROMA RESIDENTS ADVISED TO STAY CLEAR OF FLOOD WATER Romas Bungil Creek at the Joe Orr Bridge at 8am was 2.71 metres and rising due to lo...cal water run-off. Council expects rises in the Bungil Creek system late today due to the widespread rain overnight. Council is working with the Bureau of Meteorology to monitor river levels throughout Maranoas catchments. There is currently localised flooding being experienced in lower lying areas of Roma. Sand bags are available - please ring SES on 132 500. Residents are advised to stay clear of flooded streets and roads. Remember if its flooded, forget it. These roads include: Miscamble Street (Ashburns Crossing) - Closed Miscamble Street West - Open - Water over road Miscamble Street East - Open - Water over road at Long Drain Feather Street - Open - Water over road between rail line and Mayne Street Charles Street - Open Water over road at Ivy Street Lovell Street Closed - Water over road at Long Drain Bassett Lane Wes - Open water over road Currey Street North - Open water over road. As of 8am there has been 67mm of rain overnight. Residents are advised to keep calm but remain alert throughout the morning. 13.01.2022 STATE GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES APPROVAL OF ROMA FLOOD MITIGATION STAGE 2 Maranoa Regional Council has welcomed yesterdays announcement by Acting Premier and Minist...er for Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning Jackie Trad regarding the approval of Councils Stage 2 Flood Mitigation Project. Stage 1 has already been completed, reducing the above floor flood risk for approximately 490 properties in Roma and with funding already secured, Stage 2A will see in excess of 50 properties benefit (through the construction of a levee and diversion channel). Maranoa Regional Council Deputy Mayor Jan Chambers, Portfolio Chair for Flood Mitigation said the announcement is a fantastic result for the community.
