13.01.2022 What a whirlwind month it has been for us. So exciting to have the last of our recent 'grant funded' efforts installed on site. Thanks to Simon Hutchinson's tea...m at Climbing Tree, the coastal display garden near the ferry terminal at Cape Jervis is now home to two carved gum nuts styled after the locally rare Kingscote mallee, Eucalyptus rugosa. The two gum nuts were hand-crafted by Daniel, and he was there to do the installation with Ross. Great to see two passionate professionals at work! Not only were the gum nuts installed today, but we also installed our new signage. 20 small red signs highlighting the locally 'rare', 'vulnerable' and 'endangered' plants growing in the display garden, and 10 larger blue signs that highlight some of the features of the garden. We are so thankful to the Coast Protection Board for the grant that made this all possible, and the Normanville Natural Resource Centre and the Cape Jervis Progress Association who contributed generously to co-funding of the gum nuts. None of this would have been possible without our committed volunteers and our long term support from the District Council of Yankalilla and Natural Resources Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges. Come along, learn and enjoy. And yes, the gum nuts are 'nature play' and can be climbed on. You can't see it, but they are concreted / bolted into the ground, so no risk of them moving!
