22.01.2022 It's been wild, wet and windy in Aireys tonight. The perfect sort of night for takeaway! Kat wanted to sample some local seafood, Anna wanted a pork 'n' pear pizza because it listed kaiserfleisch in the ingredients and she's feeling homesick today. Lucky for them #thecaptainofaireys is right next door to #aireysfishandchips so everyone is now fed, full and happy!

19.01.2022 It's starting to feel like the girls have "moved in" to the camp kitchen. They cook in there, they eat in there, they hang out in there when it's raining, they video chat with their friends and family back in Germany. It's great to see them making themselves at home. That's what our communal facilities are about, after all. Sadly Anna and Kat will be heading off soon. They've managed to get a travel permit to head up north and help out with some harvesting. 17.01.2022 The Andersons are on the move again, just not back home like we were expecting It seems their renos have hit some pricey and time consuming snags. From what I can gather this (and every other problem in the world right now) seems to be all Aaron's fault. To save some money they've decided to move across to one of our 5-person Budget Cabins. Lucky for them, we have just finished renovating Cabin 6 (on time and on budget ) so it's looking pretty schmick! ... And the kids are stoked to be closer to the pool with the glorious weather this weekend. 17.01.2022 Gail has discovered the mini-library in our TV lounge. We normally see her in and around her caravan with her headphones on. Apparently she likes to listen to audio books to "drown out the background noise". We think we might know what that background noise is... 13.01.2022 It's 12 degrees (feels like 8), I've been in the office with a heater on and I still can't feel my toes. But the sun came out, so there are kids in the pool! We thought the Andersons might be back in their own home by now but apparently there have been a few hiccups and the renovations are taking a little longer than expected (I know it's unheard of!) So we have the pleasure of their company a little longer. Now if you'll excuse me, as First Aid Officer I just have to go check those kids don't have hypothermia

12.01.2022 ** New guest alert ** Dean is an architect from the big bad city (it's ok, we don't really call it that) and is down our way doing some design work. He's been a bit reserved about what he's working on - apparently it's top secret. Our guess is he's either planning an extension for the Costa's or he's fitting out the inside of the lighthouse "Round the Twist" style. Dean's first question before we could even get him checked in was "Where can I get a coffee?" Lucky for him our... little town of 800 residents has at least 10 places where you can buy a great cup of coffee. Got a local cafe you've been dreaming of? 05.01.2022 The middle of a lockdown is the perfect time to do some turf work. John thought so too and he wandered down to tell us all about his mate Hugh who was the greenkeeper at Kialla Golf Club for 32 years. We tried to explain a few key differences between golf courses and caravan parks but it didn't seem to lessen his opinions.... In the end we went to find John a rake and found him missing by the time we got back. Sites 50-56 will be out of action for the next month or so following some heavy duty soil revival and reseeding. Now all we need is some good spring sunshine and rain!

05.01.2022 What a weekend! You did yourselves proud Melbourne. We know this was the first outing out for many of you in a long loonngg time and we were packed to the rafters. But masks were worn, group sizes were small and you nearly ran us out of hand sanitiser! Experienced campers helped out new campers, kids made new friends and you even organised a search party for a missing child (who turned out to be not so missing - thank goodness). The sense of community even in this strange, socially-distanced world warmed our hearts. PS - we were a little bit too busy to get the camera out this weekend. 03.01.2022 Jess has moved out. Not back to her home which should have been ready weeks ago, just out of her family's cabin. She said the paint fumes were giving her headaches. We couldn't smell anything and Aaron is quite happy with the cabin so we can only assume poor Jess suffers from hyperosmia. Oddly, she didn't want to move the whole family, just requested a couple of nights in our spa cabin. Alone.... He got a couple of good size Whiting off the Lorne pier last week and a decent haul of Salmon off the beach near Moggs Creek. 01.01.2022 Everybody is celebrating!!! The Andersons have the all clear to move back into their beautifully renovated house, John and Gail can hit the road again and start making their way north and we can open the gates again to regional travellers from this Thursday I've had a lot of questions today about camping and at this stage we don't have any answers regarding what sort of restrictions will be in place. Hopefully we'll have some answers in the next day or two. At this stage w...e're being conservative and only taking bookings for ensuite sites (which are fully booked out for the school holidays now) and cabins.
