24.01.2022 After many months of showing a closed sign, with a nod, with have flipped it over to OPEN! For the lucky ones who are allowed to mooch around in destinations other than our lounge rooms, this is where we are at: OPEN: playground, all accommodation, amenities, jumping pillow, camp kitchens, movie lounge and caffeine. ... CLOSED: pool and toddler playroom. But you know what? The beach is magical, outdoors is a wonderland and people create the games themselves. Wherever you travel, do it well. 21.01.2022 Just while we find our feet again, we are taking things very gently and just making sure that everybody feels and IS safe. The biggest questions on everybodys lips are answered below. Some of them are slightly irritating answers but honest nonetheless: 1. THE POOL? It will open when social gathering numbers go from 20 to 50 - we expect an announcement on that by at least June 22nd but 95% sure it will be right to go for school holidays. 2. CAN I CAMP? You sure can.....if you... are fully self sufficient which means that you have a shower, toilet and cooking facilities on board (an en-suite van). The amenities and camp kitchens remain closed. 3. THE JUMPING PILLOW? - yep, the pillow is right to go - there is a limit of 15 people but you know, theres plenty of time - its open from 9am untildusk. Just if you feel ready to move about again and the timing is right art your end. Whether its now or a little bit down the track, it would be wonderful to see you. 07.01.2022 OK, so this is not easy. As families dig deep to wrestle with the pressure of this lock-down we are all trying valiantly to be creative, resourceful, positive and engaged. That is of course accompanied with the fine print of not completely losing our minds. As we casually check who is logged into which class, we realise that perhaps Fortnite has made it onto the National curriculum or that TikTok is a valid source of credible information for Geography. As we forage into the... back of our minds on exactly how to formulate the right answer to an algebraic equation that the grade six is asking for help with, we burn the dinner while we convince the Year 8, that actually reading the English novel will be of some benefit. As we prepare ourselves for another Zoom meeting, we rapidly (with clenched jaw) press mute mid-sentence as the youngest comes hurtling into the room at break neck speed accompanied with a blood curdling scream because his Google Classroom password doesnt work........ oh and anyway, hes hungry. But heres the thing. Everyone is doing the best job they can and well get there because we are adaptable, agile, were brave and determined. Were funny and smart and were intuitive. We can charter a course through this lock-down and we can negotiate with an irrational toddler. Our hugs melt fears and were acutely perceptive. Were creative and resourceful and were tough. Even when we get it a little bit wrong, thats OK because our vulnerability and mistakes are endearing. We all know the heaviness of those long relentless days amongst children and that occasionally clunky thud of not being or doing enough. But we are. When you say good night to your children, and one child lingers at the door and wont go to bed until you have made eye contact, they have blown you a kiss, you have blown them one and you have both caught eachothers kisses, just THAT is enough. That shiny little moment that allows a little childs chest to broaden, for their eyes to sparkle with knowing and for them to ground themselves in possibility ready for another day. So move bravely forward to that day and know that everyone is championing their own battle but that with a little help from our friends, we can actually do this. Without losing our minds. 03.01.2022 When you are told you can OPEN and the giraffe stands taller and the staff stand prouder and all the people across the land think how wonderful it will be to holiday again, gently, slowly and with great care for eachother. It is true, we are motoring to get our playground open but cant open our pool and indoor spaces but you know what? Thats ok, because family walks are cool and so is the beach, as well as exploring a place thats not your normal one. Its more about being able to have a little bit of space for a little bit.
