09.01.2022 2017 VDDF year of the weed ! Weather was great and everyone was getting bites/hits when you could hold your baits against the giant red soup Tsunami of Weed. People were inventive in battling the weed, Corks, bottles, tagged along the main lines to keep them high, other tried anchoring their baits with lots of lead on their lines to keep it under the weed, Some ran line maintenance teams on kayaks every 20 minutes pulling weed off their lines... loved the desperation and adju...Continue reading

03.01.2022 Thank You- Sponsor and Volunteers The VDDF BIG BET 2017 shark comp officially acknowledges and thanks you for your contribution, donations, and sponsorships. This incredible generosity has enabled and ensured the ongoing success of the biggest land based sharking fishing competition in the country. With out your incredible generosity and commitment- achieving another record in 2017 would not of been possible. Prize Money and Prizes generates greater interest in these events.... We acknowledge some of you had to contribute out of your own back pocket, some of you have contributed considerable amounts of personal time to help in anyway possible, and others contributed by pushing for donations from local companies. We also acknowledge contributions of businesses that have sponsored the event and their willingness to assist in anyway they can. We achieved another record breaking year with a competitor list of 111 total entrants. There was 104 adults, and 7 Under 16s. Our first all women’s team. Our first female entries, 3 in total. An increase of around 35% year on year of participants. We also formally acknowledge all of the assistance and background work by all of our volunteers. Whilst their work may not always be apparent, they were in the background making it happen. From all that were involved in the competition we thank the sponsors for their donations and the volunteers for all their hard work . With out it- the comp would not have been such a huge success.
