25.01.2022 Around this time of year I like to have a look back through the folder containing all the shots I have submitted to HEAVY DUTY in the previous 12 months and pick out some of my favourites. Starting with Jack on the Ratster, I like the sense of speed, clarity and the lighting in this one. Dave.

25.01.2022 Here's the Promo for Issue #171.

24.01.2022 I really like the big front wheel Harleys I've been writing up lately. A 23" Road Glide and a 26" Breakout. But *I* have just fitted a 29" front end on my Cruiser. :-)

23.01.2022 The Preview for Issue #172 of HEAVY DUTY Magazine has dropped.

20.01.2022 We're just on the home stretch of production for HEAVY DUTY Magazine issue #171. I've got 4 features in this month and a number of news items and other grabs. The first item is on a 153 Horsepower Low Rider S Power Build by Morgan & Wacker. It's a very ride-able beast. I tested it and took the photos during the worst of the lockdown so it's not as diverse as some of my usual pic sets, but it's solid enough.... Next was a few week test on the latest Road King. This is the new Harley I would buy. I did almost 1000km around Brisbane and the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast Hinterlands. Brilliant bike. My pal Spook rode it for the action shoot and I'm very pleased with the results from the Nikon Z6. I've been waiting for a new Z mount 70-200 f/2.8 lens for it since February but it has been delayed by ... events. When it gets here the action shots should get even crisper, although the detail on this one using an older lens is pretty sharp. Then it was up to the Sunshine coast and Farrow's Customs for a feature on Zane's really classy looking Softail Custom. He rode it for the action shots and I managed to get some pretty decent grabs. It's a very nice daily rider with a very interesting handlebar story. Then it was on to an amazing Road Glide Special from Gasoline Alley which is Rob, the DP's bike. He rode it for the action shots, some of which were taken hanging out the side window of their van on the freeway. I love the speed blur that this method gets in the road and wheels. In the test I stated that this is the best Harley I have ridden in almost 20 years of testing them. It is *that* good. There's a full run down on exactly what that plaudit costs. (It's not cheap - but damn!) The full bits will be in #171 - on sale early next month: www.heavyduty.com.au/subscribe - Dave

20.01.2022 It's interesting going back through my photo archives and running some older (10 to 15 years) digital images through the latest software. Mainly the improvements in noise reduction and enhanced clarity. My pal Brian running the #1 Plate in Post Classics and an incident that meant new livery.

16.01.2022 Finished the next stage of 'Dave's' web site upgrade. Coded it all myself too. All here in B&W :-) https://davidcohen.co/

15.01.2022 Next in the Best of 2020 series.

09.01.2022 Put together a pretty solid photo set of 'Jack's Ratster' for HEAVY DUTY Magazine today. It's a cool story. It's his first road bike and he restored, rebuilt and customised it himself. The yarn will be in issue #172.

08.01.2022 Been going back and running some more old photos through the latest versions of Lightroom and Photoshop. Good memories. Sharper images with less noise from the software.

06.01.2022 So the Publisher tells me that the next edition of Heavy Duty Magazine is rolling off the presses now. I've got four bits in this one. There's a feature on a wild Turbo Night Rod, a fully customised, high-performance Harley FXR with beautiful paint, a 'Day in the Saddle' report on the Indian Challenger and a really nice spread on Zane's Shovelhead Chopper. It's an interesting build story on a classic 70's inspired machine. It scored the poster too - or as good as it gets fo...r a shutterbug like me. For the camera geeks, I used my new Z 70-200 f/2.8 VR S lens on the Nikon Z6 for the shoot and the resulting images from the new glass are very pleasing. It will be in mail boxes and on the stands next week - or you can subscribe online at www.heavyduty.com.au These are some shots of the Shovel that didn't make the cut for the mag.

05.01.2022 Giving the Road King Special a bit of a workout. It has evolved into such a good bike. Comfortable and capable. If I was buying one I'd probably go for the Standard 107-cube RK, rather than the Special, because ... bling, but the 114 in this was very sweet, and its looks did sing to me quite loudly too.

03.01.2022 Here's some video from the Road King Test featured in issue #171 of HEAVY DUTY Magazine

02.01.2022 Out for a quick skidz this afternoon. Spring is sproinging here in Brisbane.
