25.01.2022 Our Wilfrid Gordon (Approved Kindy) room children are engaged in the Garden Guru Project. Alison and Sophie are teaching the sustainable practice of composting.The resulting compost will be used to enrich the soil used by the centre's younger gardeners in their projects (more on that later).

25.01.2022 As an important lesson in caring for the world and all that live in it, Big Day Out has sponsored a Bengal Tiger called Kamrita, through World Wildlife Fund. Kamrita lives in Nepal where tiger numbers are fast declining to an alarmingly low level. We hope to teach the children about our ability and responsibility to care for creatures in our world, regardless of their location. We can all do our little bit to help support our planet and all its inhabitants.

25.01.2022 With school holidays almost upon us it is a good time to remind everyone that Big Day Out runs a vacation program. Great facilities,great program, great food and the children might even get to travel in the cool bus! Ring our Director, Gaylyn on 5448 1308, to book your child's place.

25.01.2022 Meet our chef, Sam. He loves his new job and is very serious about preparing interesting, healthy, quality food for the children. Some have already experienced ... and appreciated ...new food experiences. Check out our exciting menu, at the centre. Now, meet our bus driver .... look familiar? Sam swaps his kitchen implements for the steering wheel, transporting our before and after school students to and from the centre. Safety is Sam's first priority - in the kitchen and behind the wheel.

22.01.2022 Big Day Out has grown so quickly we need to expand our educator team. Please pass the word on for us, if you can. We are seeking experienced regular and relief team members and additional OSHC educators. Applicants should email their resume (attention Gaylyn) at [email protected]. We will contact them to discuss.

22.01.2022 The new Child Care Subsidy starts soon.

21.01.2022 Staff, Jenny, Sam, Cayla and Mindy will work with the Tiddalick children, in our Garden Guru Project, to show how worm farming benefits the soil. The results will be used to improve the soil used for other room group's projects.

19.01.2022 Children from the Hairy MacLary room have a role to play in our Garden Guru project. They will be using our recently purchased planters to grow herbs (using the compost and worm castings supplied by the older groups). These will find their way into the hands of Chef Sam for use in his cooking. Sustainability in action!

17.01.2022 Big Day Out Peregian Springs invites families to contact us to lock in their child’s days for 2018. Spaces are going fast with some days already full. Inquire now to have the best chance of acquiring the needed days for you child, or extra days if you already attend the centre. Please let your friends know so they can also benefit. Although spaces are presently available in all rooms, some days are filling up quickly, so get in soon. If you have inquired recently but not confirmed or completed your enrolment, please do so to avoid disappointment.

16.01.2022 BDO Springs staff celebrate Book Week.

16.01.2022 Our first after-school pick up starts Tuesday afternoon. Sam will be driving the cool bus. The children in the program receive afternoon tea, before homework and play, all for $25 (before CCB and CCR subsidy). Book now to make sure of your child's seat on the brand new bus.

15.01.2022 BDO Springs' staff recreate Dr Seuss's "Cat In A Hat" characters, for Book Week. If you want to give your children a head start in life, reading is key. Encourage them to read and show them that you love reading, just like our team members do.

14.01.2022 Our kindergarten team, Alison and Sophie are very excited about starting next year's government approved program. We still have limited spaces, for children aged 3 and over. All enrolled kindergarten children receive a new free kindergarten tshirt (pictured) ... and a great education in a fabulous setting.

13.01.2022 Big Day Out offers a fully accredited Queensland Government Kindergarten program. We have great facilities and a wonderful educator team led by a fully qualified Early Childhood Teacher (with international experience!). Please tell any of your friends who might be interested to ring our Director, Gaylyn, on 5448 1308 to discuss enrolment or arrange a visit.

13.01.2022 The centre will be open today as usual. However, if you feel it is not safe or you think you will be unable to collect your child as normal, please stay at home.

12.01.2022 Big Day Out Goes Solar! Our centre has been switched on and it is now solar powered as part of our commitment to a more sustainable planet. This message is reinforced throughout our curriculum, especially our Approved Kindergarten program and will be soon reinforced by other initiatives (stay tuned).....

We are seeking a flexible, Diploma trained educator, with experience in the planning & delivery of a fun and innovative Before & After School / Holiday Care program to be part of an OSHC team. The Big Day Out Team also needs experienced on-call staff for all age groups. Please forward your resume by Wednesday 27 July via email to [email protected]

08.01.2022 On the advice of Queensland Emergency Services, early childhood centres have been asked to have parents collect children, if possible. Many roads may become inaccessible and the situation may worsen throughout the day. Big Day Out staff will stay with the children until they are able to be collected.

07.01.2022 The final group engaged in our Garden Guru project (we'll give the babies a pass on this one) are our "Wild Things". They will be growing vegetables which will eventually be transformed by chef, Sam.

07.01.2022 Hard to believe but it's true! We're proud to have delivered quality care to the Peregian Springs area for 24 months. Special thanks to director, Gaylyn, the wonderful staff and all the great families that make up our community.... PS We're a very advanced two year old. No "toddler tantrums" from us!

01.01.2022 The Big Day Out Springs courtyard has had a facelift, with the addition of more shade and protection for children and families . The school children enjoyed checking out the area, immediately setting up a tent and other fabulous play elements to enjoy. This extra shade connects the courtyard to the BDO Studio, allowing creative work to flourish in this extended space.
