25.01.2022 World Farm Animals Day The birth of the great Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi, on the 2nd of October is also rightfully observed as the World Farm Animals Day (WFAD) all over the world. Derived from the teachings of non-violence towards all living-beings, Mahatma Gandhi provides inspiration for vegans and animal activists worldwide to protest the cruelty meted out to animals specifically raised in farms as food.

24.01.2022 We made this portable fire fighting unit out of a rusty old wreck of a trailer. Thank you Dan Pfeiffer for your awesome welding and donations. @eat_cook_love_tasmania And Dennis Bailey for his mad mechanical skills.

20.01.2022 Ellie inspects the new freezer and Honda pump donated by ARC Tasmania. ARC is the Animal Rescue Cooperative. The rabbits will endure the summer better with frozen water bottles and the pump can operate a hose during a fire if the power goes off. This was supported by funds donated through the #Petbarnfoundation Tree of hope program to ARC to help support animals and rescuer nationally. Thank you @animalrescuecooperative @animalrescuecraftguild

16.01.2022 Free range is a word the industry uses to make you feel better, ask yourself why do they need to use words to try make you feel better? Because they know the whole industry is wrong, you cant sugarcoat it, they exploit and kill innocent sentient beings.

16.01.2022 Thank you @smooshiefacetreats for our Christmas parcel. And thank you to everyone that donated

12.01.2022 I (Jacqui) didn't get time to say Happy International Rabbit day yesterday. I wanted to make a quick mention that rabbits are one of the most mistreated animals by us humans. We use them for food, their fur, we hunt them, eat them and test all sorts of horrors on them. We misunderstand them and keep them in tiny hutches and deny them their chance to flourish as part of a family. My wish is for people to widen their understanding of these remarkable animals. They are not a 'st...arter pet' or a school project. They are amazing creatures that we are lucky to have involved in our lives. I am happy to say I do see many spoiled rabbits on FB and through my friends and that helps balance the sadness of what we know goes on in the world and some of the rescue circumstances we have here. So if you have a bunny give him/her a kiss and loads of love and if you want to help rabbits there are many ways to do this from helping at sanctuaries to checking the products you buy. (as many of you will guess this pic is from our rabbit rescue of 300 meat rabbits - my most proud moment). See more

07.01.2022 Take a moment to read this and think about it and to make changes to your diet. You can help this cow by not buying and consuming dairy products and spreading the word to your friends when you find good dairy replacement products. Your demand creates this horror. Can you imagine her hunger and on top of that her painfully full udder?

07.01.2022 R I P Frappe It is with a very sad heart that we announce that our darling Frappe passed away with the help of the vet yesterday afternoon. Frappe lived to 15 years of age, spending the last 5 with us here at Big Ears. Frappe was a beautiful, happy, sweet boy, known as a gentleman and golden boy. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him and especially his mate Ellie. Thank you to German Shepherd Rescue NSW for trusting Frappe to our family and allowing us to give him a new lease on life at the age of 10 when his first human died. Special thanks to Pauline B for sending Frappe to Jacqui to help heal her broken heart after losing Lucas-Bear. Frappe did that and so much more, what a gentle sweet boy. Love you always Frappe xxx

04.01.2022 This is Adam cucumber addict, fence climber + lover of neck massages

03.01.2022 He was hit and just left there in the middle of the road. The driver just kept going. Be a decent human and stop if you hit someone. Offer them comfort. Get he...lp. Move them off the road. Often the families of the animal who has been hit will come back to check on them and they also risk being hit if you don't move the animal off the road. Predators feeding off a dead animal will also risk getting hit if you leave an animal in the middle of the road. It doesn't take much time to just stop and care. Be someone with a soul. By The Roadside.

02.01.2022 Did you get my good side?
