In an epic encounter Kye pulls the monster barra from the mouth of a hungry bull shark and into ETs Yellowfin Plate Boat. On an outing to the offshore reefs with a group of mad keen anglers aboard Capricorn Coast charter vessel Kepelluna one of the gang thinks hes calling the Melbourne Cup as they rein in a heap of reef fish. They have a riotous time catching a stack of really, really good reds including red emperor and a whopper, but inedible Chinaman.. And on a glassy mirror sea way out on the outer Barrier Reef in his Hobie Compass ET engages in a stand up sit down battle with a feisty Spanish mackerel. See more

23.01.2022 Tomorrows show is a cracker! You know the drill, 5pm on TEN BOLD ready for the run down? Here we go.... Its a top notch episode as ET takes the RAM Laramie... to Tully in North Queensland. He joins up with Matt from Cavs Marine and Outdoor Centre and they head out to fish the wild blue Coral Sea in the @yellowfinplateboats Accompanied by Matts Dad in his Yellowfin Plate Rear Console 6200 they hit a herd of mack tuna and then Matt gets on the job with a rollicking rosy jobfish. Then they head closer inshore to shallow reef country to fish the bombie edges and pile into coral trout where ET scoops the pool with a quality trout. Further south in Queensland at Lake Monduran, ET pedals his @hobieasiapacific furiously in reverse as good mate Blakey bosses a high leaping barramundi out of an absolute forest of dead trees. Its full on action all the way from The Great Barrier Reef to Lake Mondurans dam wall barrier! Enjoy the show

18.01.2022 FISHING WITH MATES AND CAMPING ALLOWED FROM MAY 1 It is with pleasure that we can inform NT recreational fishers the sacrifices our community have made to tack...le COVID 19 have been worth it, and that from noon on Friday (May 1) new fishing rules will take effect. The adjusted rules reflect updated heath advice for outdoor activities where social distancing can be maintained. This will allow recreational fishers to once again go fishing on a boat with friends or extended family so long as 1.5m of social distancing can be maintained. REC FISHING RULES FROM MIDDAY MAY 1 - Boat fishing with friends & family, ensuring 1.5m social distancing - Land based fishing with friends & family, ensuring 1.5m social distancing - Camping in open NT Parks (check website) - No entry to designated biosecurity areas for fishing or camping, by car or boat. AFANT thanks all fishers who did their part to help the NT prevent community transmission of COVID 19 by following the strict rules and by helping to share the key messages with others. While we are proud to have been able to keep fishing as one of the few allowable recreational activities, we understand that only being able to fish alone or with household members was difficult for many. Like you, we cant wait to be able to go for a fish with our best mates. As you would expect, AFANT have remained engaged with the Fisheries Minister, NT Fisheries and other parts of the NT Government on the COVID 19 response and rules. As conversations and formal requests turned towards including boat fishing rules in the first round of adjustments announced today, there is no doubt that the excellent behaviour and care demonstrated by our community, including our clubs, tackle stores, boat shops and fishing media really helped ensure that the regulators can have confidence NT rec fishers can be relied upon to follow the new rules. We must all understand that the new rules from May 1 reflect a NEW NORMAL, it is not back to normal as we knew it before COVID 19. It is essential that social distancing can be maintained when fishing from a boat. This means that while you will be able to go fishing with a mate you dont live with on a 4 -4.5m tinny, it will not be appropriate to have 3 or 4 people from different households fishing on a boat together, unless you have a bigger vessel with the deck space required to maintain 1.5m of separation while fishing. You will need to assess this and make the call before heading out onto the water. The other good news from midday May 1 is that a number of NT Parks, including campgrounds and day use areas will reopen. Social distancing will apply and enforcement will be in place to prevent overcrowding if necessary. It is important to note that the vast Biosecurity Designated Areas with entry restrictions, remain in place and are expected to for some time. This means that Kakadu rivers including the Wildman, South & East Alligator Rivers, as well as the Daly river, will remain off limits to fishers from Darwin, including via boat. While NT parks like Judbarra / Gregory park on the Victoria River will reopen to locals, visitors from Katherine and Darwin are still not allowed to travel there as the park is within a biosecurity zone. In the Mary River NT Park, the campgrounds at Shady Camp and the Rockhole will reopen and be accessible. To avoid disappointment, we recommend fishers check park conditions and Biosecurity maps before traveling, using the links provided below. Lets keep in mind that more responsibility is now being placed on our community to keep each other safe. The Chief Minister has urged all sectors of the community not to do a Bondi. This is a clear indication that while there is trust, there are still consequences for the broader fishing community if people dont follow the new rules. They are powerful fig...hters and feed on Prawn, Crabs, Sea Urchin, Shellfish and other marine animals predominantly. I fished with a Shimano Aerowave 6-12 kilo long rod and a Saragosa 5000 reel with 50lb braid and 30 pound trace. You need heavy gear to battle these tough fish and get them out of their rocky home.
