25.01.2022 Happy long weekend! There is a rich blend of experience that makes up the team at Big Fish Events team. The post would go on forever if we listed the types of events we have done....conferences, delegate experiences, brand activations, opening nights, closing nights, games, large dinners, intimate dinners, worships, major events, event presentation, minor events, weddings...and yes we have event managed a celebrities funeral! 25.01.2022 Anyone who knows me knows I am not a quitter. They know that when times get tough in my career with whatever adversity has come my way...if I have needed to, Ive rolled up my sleeves, picked myself up, dusted myself off and stepped forward to get on with it. With 27 years now in the industry, like many other leaders, we havent face this type of adversity, but it doesnt mean we cant get through it either. The opportunity to participate in the Business SA survey and share ...the reality of whats happening in our sector was important. #JobKeeper and Steven Marshall Government grants have been life saving, but the next step is building a set of plans that can help us live with this with some sort of internal economy if we need to start there. Market confidence, corporate confidence, consumer confidence - these plans need to be developed whilst we continue to do the important job of managing the health crisis. The event industry is a tourism enabler...it is an enormous industry, economic driver and employer in this state - and with everything halted, for it to be there on the other side, it is going to need more support. Those of us that work in the industry are resourceful, solution finders, problem solvers, extremely hard workers...and here ready to help find the solutions to ensure there is an industry on the other side, a supply chain to service it and staff to fulfill obligations...but we are also going to need further support. Whether its through the South Australian Tourism Commission or of the South Australian Liberal Party or the Australian Government - or combination of all...working together has never been more important. #events #businessevents #southaustralia

What about the fact that a virtual tradeshow or event can be held for a longer time? An event that may have been restricted to a few days can be online for a week or even longer. 07.01.2022 Happy Birthday Make-A-Wish Australia ....a day we will never forget making a wish come true with Big Fish Events first event (37 days, 113 events from Cairns to Sydney with 86 Rugby League Greats....raising over $264,000 for Make-A-Wish Australia) - this was for Sarah who just wanted to go finishing with her Dad, so we raised the money for her wish! That's NRL - National Rugby League legend #GordonTallis making sure her wish came through. It was the first of 13 over that event. Warms your heart. #makeawish #nrl #events PS - this event was also possible because of my great friend #DeanJones daring to plant the idea seed....another one of the things he spent his time on and lent his profile too.

We loved completing this event for the City of Mitcham with the local schools getting involved and some extraordinary people around South Australia who preserve the legacy of those gone before. Mortlock Park was a training camp for WW1 - used to organise, train and prepare troops before they set off. ...our task was to recreate that for the younger generations to learn about their local history. We created an immersive expe...rience with the help of many. The kids had to report in for duty, they were taken through drills by their Drill Sergeants, build tents, turn up to the Mess Hall which they also set up....and get a taste at what it may have been like to enlist. #lestweforget2020 #remembranceday #rsl

03.01.2022 Well, this was a week in South Australia where you could not write the script. Again untold cost to so many businesses including event businesses. We were impacted directly again too - but there is no time to spend worrying or hosting a pity party - focus needs to go towards what you can control, what new creative solution you can add and how you can support your customer and their customer - now! In the events industry we are trained for things to pop up and for us to find... a solution - now. For the pre-planning that has been put in place needing a different solution when you get on site, for a risk to look like its about to get out of control and little time to bring it back into a manageable state by creating and implementing a new solution now - just remember, event professionals have these skills ready and waiting for you too.
