24.01.2022 David Parsons was on the road to a successful football career when a freak accident derailed his dreams. From there he explored the trade of butchery before discovering that his real passion lay in medicine. It has not been an easy road, but with the help of Big Picture David is now on track to become a medical doctor. This video was created by the Origin Foundation who have supported Big Picture Education Australia on our journey. https://www.bigpicture.org.au//david-says-%E2%80%9Cno-one- #bigpictureeducation #bigpicturelearning #BPEA #realworldlearning #educationreform #originfoundation

15.01.2022 Today's good news story comes from Silkwood School on the Gold Coast. Joshua and his twin brother Connor were living in Tasmania and attending the Launceston Big Picture School when a passion for soccer brought them to the mainland and a new Big Picture Advisory. The boys are now in year 11 and kicking goals both on the field and off. Joshua is well on his way to becoming a successful entrepreneur with a range of ongoing projects including co-producing a podcast (Those Red C...ouch Conversations - https://open.spotify.com/show/767CDQWoM2VWlPU9yNR8KI) with his brother, Connor; running a blog and website about personal development http://embracedintuitions.com/; coaching a year 8 student on digital marketing; researching sustainability and how to live a zero waste existence and (as if he is not busy enough) experimenting with soap making for a business that he is developing. Joshua and Connor are described by their Advisor, Tai Hood, as "fantastic role models, dedicated to making the most of every opportunity". Good on you Joshua and Connor - we look forward to hearing more great things from you in the future! #realworldlearning #bigpictureeducation #bigpicturelearning #BPEA #entrepreneur See more

13.01.2022 The good news is pouring in today...this story is from James Eoannidis who is a BP advisor at Halls Head College, WA. He wrote to us about a student with a special talent: "Indi first began her passion for music picking up a ukulele 3 years ago. Recently she has begun guitar lessons and performs covers of popular songs. As a Big Picture student she wanted the challenge of writing an original song so she put this together with the help of her mentor."... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMCPJe6ccag Well done Indi! The Big Picture team are all very impressed and I'm sure the rest of our network will be too. Keep up the good work! Thanks James and Indi for this story. If you have a story you would like to share about a BPEA student or alumni, please contact us on facebook or by email: [email protected] #bigpictureeducation #bigpicturelearning #BPEA #educationreform #realworldlearning

13.01.2022 Our first 'Let's Talk About Design' meeting will be held on Wednesday (October 14) at 1:30pm. It is open to all Big Picture students who have an interest in the field of Design. What is design? Who are designers? How do these individuals become designers of the world in which we live?... Why would I become a designer? When should I start thinking about becoming a designer? These are just a few of the questions we will explore as well as the different areas of design, i.e. graphic design, fashion design, interior design and architecture. While the discussion will examine the design, we will examine the world of DESIGN as it pertains to people, their behaviour, and how they will interact with our design. If you would like to join please get in touch on facebook or by emailing [email protected] #bigpictureeducation #bigpicturelearning #BPEA #LetsTalkDesign #letstalk #realworldlearning

10.01.2022 From our US colleagues
10.01.2022 Some good news to brighten up your Friday! This came through from Emily Goss, Advisor at Five Islands Secondary College: Aidan joined us at the launch of Big Picture at our school in 2018. His background was one of significant difficulties in education from Kindergarten through to Year 9. Through the incredible magic of Big Picture, Aidan is about to graduate from Year 12 having completed an outstanding Senior Project - turning an old caravan shell into a stylish, modern tiny... house, with fully functioning water and solar power! The big picture team were very impressed by the story and asked some follow up questions: What is the plan for the caravan? Aidan currently lives in his Tiny House on his parent’s property. He may look at selling it at some point in order to build further tiny houses. What is the next step for Aidan? He plans to take a gap year next year while working casually (manager at Dominos) to build some savings. He'd then like to follow his passion for interior design by doing some TAFE courses and hopefully starting his own business making/designing tiny homes Thanks for sharing Emily and Aidan! If you have a Big Picture good news story please send it to us through facebook or email: [email protected] #bigpictureeducation #bigpicturelearning #BPEA #realworldlearning #educationreform
