24.01.2022 Hi Everyone Just wanting to give you all some important updates regarding changes to Big REDs program in response to the new COVID-19 cases that have occurred over the weekend across Brisbane. As we wait for more information about the impacts that these new cases will have on the community, we will be moving back to Stage 1 of our COVID Response Plan (see attached document) as of tomorrow, Tuesday 25th of August 2020. We will be staying at Stage 1 over the next 2 weeks (th...rough to Sunday 6th September 2020), at which point we will be revaluating the opening of the Big RED centre based on the current situation of COVID-19 community transmission in Brisbane. As was asked in our community meeting today, why are we taking these measures? We are making this decision based on the wellbeing of our community members, staff and the wider community in an effort to keep everyone safe while ensuring our doors stay open and supports remain available for the people who access supports at Big RED. Stage 1 means that drop in services will be suspended for the moment and Community Members will be able to access hour long 1-on-1 Support Sessions with our Peer Workers by booking an appointment. Bookings will be essential. You can do this by contacting the centre on; P: (07) 3390 1116 M: 0499 747 000 E: [email protected] Daily Community Check-ins using Zoom will recommence, as will Virtual Groups on Wednesdays and Fridays. More information about this will be released ASAP. Keep an eye out for further updates. If you are feeling unwell please seek a COVID test at your local fever clinic or hospital; https://www.qld.gov.au//stay-inf/testing-and-fever-clinics Stay safe and be sure to call to book a 1-on-1 support session if youre in need of a chat or any assistance.

05.01.2022 Big thanks go out to our new Councillor Adelia Berridge (Capalaba, Sheldon and Thornelands), Mayor Karen Williams and Redland City Council for their amazing support of Big REDs new Gardening Group through the Mayor and Councillors Small Grants program which has awarded our peer support community $2975 to install four new garden beds to accompany our new outdoor area, which was also generously supported by Redland City Council in 2019. Were thrilled to be able to offer this... new gardening group to the Big RED community. Not just to explore the benefits of gardening on mental health and wellbeing, but to tie-in with our Community Lunch program, where we can now grow our own fresh produce to use when cooking healthy meals with our members. Congratulations on your election Adelia! Were so excited to be working with you as our new Councillor for Capalaba and looking forward to the the many exciting ways we can work together in the future to support positive mental heath and wellbeing for the wonderful folk of Redland City! :)
