23.01.2022 Here’s an educational post about behaviour / dynamics .. Firstly you hear a rooster crow to the left.. it’s an alarm warning from a rooster that’s seen birds.. it’s followed by the roosters to the left mimicking sounds of birds of prey This is how they communicate to each other the type of predator they are warning about .. you then see my beautiful Bijoux Little Dark Knight look up & around to ensure the birds that were spotted aren’t hawks/eagles.. or threatening type...s.. once he sees the coast is clear he snatches a sweet grass root and calls his hens over to eat it .. a roosters job is to look in the sky and Bush for predators whilst his hens peck around eating, .. his job is also to find yummy nutritious treats to pass to his hens. He will also stand on guard when a pullet (young hen) is laying an egg for the first time . And .. he will use his own life to distract and fight off predators to buy time for his hens to take cover in the event they are faced with predators. They are marvellous to look at, they are chivalrous, caring, protective & true lovers willing to sacrifice their lives for their hens and babies. Silkies & Japanese Bantams will be available for purchase & pick up from tomorrow - Heat lamps also available if you dont already have one. (Essential for survival that chicks are kept in 27-35C first few weeks - temperature can be lowered a few degrees each week thus the range stated).

07.01.2022 So today... there was a mothers meeting in the Silkies yard.. .. well they were all sat around in a circle around the nesting box watching the little white lady in there whos been sitting on eggs for 3 weeks.. was the funniest cutest sight With their fluffy heads looking like theyd all been to the hair salons to have a baby shower They were all clucky waiting to meet the new babies & of course to help her with them & offer the new babies some grubby insect gifts They started hatching out since yesterday

06.01.2022 Hiya , have some awesome news My hens have been laying over the last two weeks after a long 4mth break!! I believe it was the extreme weather that knocked our hens around all over NSW this year! I checked fertility last night & it is sitting at at least 97% ! My roosters have been busy boys! ... The chicks due to hatch are as follows: Japanese Bantams Belgian dUccles Silkie Bantams Pekins arent quite there yet, only 2 eggs so far NOTE: Chicks are NOT sexed. These are tiny bantam chicks. It is unsafe, causes stress, and almost impossible to perform with accuracy. (The accuracy on standard sized chicks is usually only 50% so definitely not something most breeders engage in anymore, let alone on bantam chicks) **Also note, Silkies arent sexable until 12-16wks old, by then which theyre sold. Ta Chicks pricing as follows 1 day olds $16 2-7 day olds $18 2wks old $20 3-5wks old- not for sale as they are almost at sexable age I retain them till Ive sexed them 6wks + old : prices will vary depending on breed, age, quality (in its breed), colour (if a new/rare colour they are priced higher).

So .. allow me to remind you that a bantam is nearly 1/2 the height up your calf I understand if you have children, &if you do and this happens, please re-home or bring him back to me ASAP as I dont want your children to be pecked (or injured!) or grow up with a fear of roosters.
