21.01.2022 Thank you to the universe for making my B'day wishes come true. Bike ride - Beach swimming - Beers. There is a lot to be said about the simple pleasures. Shout outs to @epiccycles for loan of a Specialized Levo (my legs are a big fan of pedal assist atm). Much love to the Nerang Trails for making me smile and the beautiful blue ocean for stilling the mind and soothing the body. Finally smashing a beer or two, while planning future adventures!

20.01.2022 A little while back I had some fun with the crew from Totally Wild filming a bike maintenance segment for the show. Tune in kids, it is airing tomorrow!

19.01.2022 Another Sunday, another fun day hanging out with the She Skills crew. This time I built a work bench and played with many awesome power tools. Finally making some steps closer to some serious framebuilding time. #steelisreel #butwoodisalsofun #workshoprenovations

16.01.2022 Beautiful start to a very busy working weekend. I got to lead twenty awesome She Rides ladies around some fun trails in Karawatha Forest Park this morning. Thanks to Corinne and Peter from Cycle Away for being my support crew. It's hard controlling this motley crew, lol!

16.01.2022 Call out to the Brisbane mtb community. A great documentary is trying to get the go ahead to screen, however 15 more tickets ($20 each) need to be presold before it will go ahead on the evening of 23rd August. Please share amongst friends, only 24hrs left to buy a ticket.

16.01.2022 Any time I have a spare moment or two I love to pack up my mountain bike and sneak in a overnight micro-adventure (great way to escape reality for a short time). And one of my inspirational and influential bikepacking partners in crime is Briztreadley. One evening this week I was invited along to sit down with other highly experience tourers and have a chat about all things bike touring. Check out part one here...

13.01.2022 I learnt some new skills on the weekend, got to build something non metal and met a great bunch of women. Thanks to Meg and Clint from She Skills for a rad Sunday session of playing with power tools and making stuff from pallets. I am so envious of their workshop space and am now very inspired for my own workshop renovations. I will be putting these new skills to practise very soon, stay tuned. #BikeBestieonthewayback #SheSkills

10.01.2022 Check out the article on bike theft in the City South News! D-locks are great props.

10.01.2022 Never stop love learning new skills, including learning how to fly. Thanks to Roadie Rob's Bicycle School for a fun morning as always.

08.01.2022 Happy 2017. Great start to the new year. Red face & sweaty + dirty/tired legs = happiness. #firstrideoftheyear #jubileepark #tmbc #ontheroadtorecovery

05.01.2022 It was a fun wet ride day on Brisbane Valley Rail Trail BVRT Community with Jan from Cycle Away. Who smashed out her first ever 60km off road adventure, Wulkuraka to Lowood return trip (champion effort). It shows it doesn't matter how long you have been riding for, there are still new skills to learn and first experiences to be had.

03.01.2022 The spring She Rides programs are about to kick off next weekend. There is still time to sign up! It is an awesome fun 8 week program designed for beginners, where you will gain confidence on the bike, learn some new skills and make some fabulous new cycling friends. Check out the two programs I will be instructing in collaboration with Cycle Away.... 1. MTB Confidence - Gap Creek Reserve & surrounding areas. 2. Road/Traffic Confidence - Kalinga Park & surrounding areas. Please contact me if you would like any further details.

03.01.2022 So one of my favourite things is introducing more women to riding on the dirt. I am lucking that I get to partner up with She Rides and deliver a awesome beginners mountain biking program. The next round is about to kick off in March, so if you have ever thought about it or just want to gain more confidence, this is the time to do it, jump on and register now. I will be delivering the program labeled GAP CREEK and we won't just be based in the one spot all the time, as I also... like to show off the awesome trail networks we have in and around Brisbane. Come have some fun with me and meet some other awesome women, as we learn to kick arse on the dirt. :)

01.01.2022 2016 has been the hardest year of them all so far. And this is a heartfelt note (and photo slideshow) to thank and honour all that have been there for me through this tough time. I have never been so challenged mentally and physically and I owe my survival to many many wonderful people. For someone who defines herself physically, chronic pain from a prolapsed disc, to say the least, threatened my life force. Patiently I waited and waited all year for the health system to help... me, depression, anger, intolerance, lack of motivation, work and relationship breakdowns, everything in my world suffered because of it. Finally my body couldn't handle the wait anymore and it all ended in a dramatic emergency situation, once you go numb from the hips down, its interesting how quickly everything can happen! I owe a great deal of gratitude to the amazing staff at the Mater Neuroscience ward, such beautiful people that do many amazing things on a daily basis. New challenges lay ahead for me, I have Cauda Equina Syndrome as the result of my disc explosion (one thing to brag about is that my I have hit the no. 1 spot on my neurosurgeon's list for largest amount of disc extraction). Recovery is very slow and the reality is that some functions may never return, once the nerves get shut off they sometimes don’t turn back on. But it is not decided yet, and I am super excited to state that I went for my first mountain bike ride on single track a day ago. It was different and strange, as my perineum region and feet are numb and the calves/achilles are not responding either, but I am extremely thankful to be able to slowly turn the pedals again. I would like to thank all the amazing people who have inspired, helped, supported, made me laugh, let me cry and just been there in anyway possible. I love you and thank you. 2017 can not come quick enough, as I know it will be full of new adventures. And Bike Bestie will return, maybe heading in a slightly different direction, but I hope you will join me for the ride. xxEmma
