This ride is taking place over the weekend of the 31st of October and 1st of November on a brand new route, so even if you’ve already ridden version one you may as well come along for version two. 06.01.2022 Favourite Places: Kalbarri... It’s late afternoon, the supermarket check-out guy sips his beer, says G’day mate. Havin’ a good one? and rings up my groceries. That’s Kalbarri for you. Laid back style with classic Aussie natural wonders. Huge cliff top lookouts perfect for watching breaching whales, wide white empty beaches hosting classic surf breaks and gentle rock pools, deep rocky outback gorges showcasing ‘Nature’s Window’ and the many lovely short walks festooned with ...wildflowers in spring. There’s even a pink lake that makes you do a double take. OK, the riding is no alpine pass wonderland but a day spent in the area rewards with spectacular ocean and outback scenery. Sundowners while you work can’t be a bad lifestyle either!

05.01.2022 Favourite Places: The Adelaide Hills... The Adelaide Hills, renowned for vineyards, orchards and fresh produce but local riders know of a better reason to visit. They’re doing their best to keep it secret but just a few minutes from the city centre the vistas widen, suburbia ends and an all day festival of magnificent riding begins. Zoom into Google Maps and a plethora of wiggly lines meander via fun place names Cudlee Creek, Piccadilly and Cherry Gardens to the Big Rocking... Horse on the way to one of Australia’s prime wine regions the Barossa Valley. Stop at the biking café in Lobethal for coffee on the way there, drop into Maggie Beer’s for lunch and on the way back grab a bottle of something good at Bird in the Hand Winery for an evening’s celebration of a great day on the bike. ‘Rider’s grin’ lasts all day with a final stop at the 727m Mt Lofty. Arrive late afternoon for spectacular sunsets over Adelaide and St Vincent Gulf. A day’s exploration reveals just a fraction of the region’s riding fun. That means plenty to look forward to on the bike again tomorrow!

03.01.2022 Favourite Places: Kata Tjuta Uluru (Ayers Rock) is one of the world’s most iconic places but how many know of the equally impressive Kata Tjuta or ‘The Olgas’ just 40km away. It’s an area of 36 domes, the highest being 546m above the surrounding plain, almost 200m higher than Uluru! It’s a sacred area to the local Pitjantjajatjara people and easy to see why. The Valley of the Winds walk takes you through the domes and with so few people around, the towering mounds hemming yo...u in and just the echoing bird calls and breeze for company it’s easy to fall into a spiritual state of quiet contemplation. It’s taken 600 million years to form and you can’t help but be in awe of the power of nature and realise the fleeting nature of your existence on earth. 01.01.2022 Favourite Places: Yungaburra Atherton Tablelands Cairns is the ‘go to’ place for everyday tourists and backpackers but just a little inland is a rider’s paradise with some of the most spectacular waterfalls in Australia. The Gillies Highway rising to the tablelands from the Coral Sea will have you grinning like a kid at Christmas. Endless tight corners need concentration but the incredible views over the rainforest to the coast demand attention too! Once on the plateau, a m...yriad of waterfalls are jewels on a tarmac necklace and together they make up the ‘Waterfall Circuit’. Yungaburra is a tiny, old fashioned town in the heart of the region with a good restaurant and a small river along which you’re almost guaranteed to see a platypus or two when gently walking the banks. Fantastic riding, waterfalls galore, incredible views, country hospitality and the iconic platypus thrown in for good measure. That’s a recipe for a great day in the saddle!
