20.01.2022 The Poor in Spirit The hope of life under God’s blessing is found throughout the entire canon of Scripture. Perhaps the most well-known passage about God’s blessing is the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:1-12. Understanding the Beatitudes requires us to comprehend the meaning of the term blessed. Many people think the word means happy, but that view is inadequate. Happiness, in an ultimate sense, is certainly a part of being blessed by God, but divine b...lessing goes far beyond mere happiness. It involves God’s favor, His willingness to come near and dwell among His people. This is the chief meaning of the Aaronic blessing in Numbers 6:2227. The hope of Israel was that God would shine His face on the people, that there would be close, intimate fellowship between the Creator and His creatures. The New Testament expands on this, revealing that our ultimate hope is the Beatific Vision face-to-face communion with God and His glory in eternity (1 Cor. 13:12; 1 John 3:2). How do we enjoy the Lord’s favor and experience a taste of His presence now, and then, for all eternity, the fullness of His glory? The answer is found in the very first beatitude. Jesus tells us that only the poor in Spirit will receive the kingdom of heaven (Matt. 5:3). Poverty in spirit is an emptying of our self-reliance and any claim we (falsely) believe to have on God. It is a recognition that we are utterly dependent on divine grace and undeserving of His favor. It is repentance for setting ourselves up as gods and then a resting in the Lord’s promise of salvation. Coram Deo: Living before the face of God God’s presence is felt most strongly in the kingdom of heaven, which was inaugurated in Christ’s ministry and will be consummated at His return. Entry into this kingdom and, ultimately, seeing God’s beauty face to face comes only through repentance and faith, the renunciation of sin and self-reliance in order to trust in Jesus alone. This turning happens decisively at conversion but is also a continual practice throughout the Christian life. Please read Matthew 5:1-3, We are His because He paid a Heavy price for us, and to grasp this reality is to grab with both hands all that God has to offer, relying totally on Him and His Holy Spirit. 17.01.2022 Gentleness: Power Under Control Gentleness may be the most misunderstood fruit of the Spirit. At first glance it seems to imply a misconception about Christianity that is shared by both the world and the church. When we become Christians, we enter into a savage spiritual battle against the forces of darkness contending for the souls of mankind, and there is no place for gentleness in combat or is there. At face value gentleness gives the impression of believers being do...ormats and rolling over in the face of confrontation. Consequently, it creates the perception of Christians as weak and sentimental, wholly unable to engage evil in open combat at all much less overcome it with good. But nothing could be further from the truth. Gentleness is a measure of God’s identity it is not us being gentle, rather, it is God gently reaching out to cradle a wounded world through us. As a fruit of the Spirit, it is nothing less than power under control. In Matthew 11:29 Jesus described Himself as gentle and humble in heart. So, we are not to be gentle, we are to walk in Jesus’ gentleness as it matures in us through the Holy Spirit. Consider the way you would respond to a child who had fallen and injured himself. You would be very gentle and intentional in the way you dealt with the young one and his injury, cautiously restraining yourself as you tenderly bandaged his wounds. And just as Jesus is gentle and humble of heart, the Lord is transforming us into His same image (2 Corinthians 3:18, Romans 8:29). This is the gentleness of the Spirit as He reaches to a fallen, wounded world through us so all who are weary and burdened can find rest in Him (Matthew 11:28). Please read. Philippians 2:6-8, Matthew 5:5, Jesus was always showed Gentleness; the Samaritan woman at the well, the woman that was dragged before Him accused of adultery, the little-children, even at the cross He pleaded with God not to hold what the are doing against them for they know not what they are doing. The words Follow Me have so much more meaning then following Him around the country side; following after His footsteps meant to imitate His life, His Love, His Gentleness. Love your enemies, love your neighbors as your self, love your brothers and sisters as Jesus loved them. Let’s walk in His footsteps. Bless you.

17.01.2022 Forbearance: Laying Down Your Rights to Take Up Love’s Responsibilities In Galatians 5:22, the fruit of the Spirit, forbearance, is the NIV rendering of a word often translated as either long suffering or patience in other major versions of the Bible. Merriam-Webster defines forbearance as, a refraining from the enforcement of something (such as a debt, right, or obligation) that is due. And doesn’t that describe the heart of God? Instead of enforcing His collect...ion of our debt of sin through judgment, He exercised forbearance and refrained sending Christ instead. It is very human and regrettably common not to forbear, but instead to claim our rights. That, however, is not the Jesus way it is not the way of the Spirit. We have a responsibility and a Spirit-empowered mandate to forbear, just as God does. Rather than claiming His rights, He forbears and lays them down, patiently waiting, He did it at the cross and He does it still. Patience, long suffering, forbearance that is what caused God to reach out in redemption rather than lash out in judgment when He would have been justified in doing so. Look at Romans 2:4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? Forbearance is the heart of the matter because it is a matter of the heart where the Holy Spirit reigns and bears His fruit of forbearance in us. As forbearance blossoms though our being, we, like Jesus, can lay down our rights, and express God’s kindness in pursuit of leading others to repentance. Just as Romans 2:1 explains, we have no excuse for claiming our rights and passing judgment on someone else when God laid down His rights to bring us to Himself. And as forbearance ripens in us through the Spirit, we can extend it to the world as God extends it to us. O, how I love Jesus That is just what Jesus meant when he said take up you crazy daily. Then He said to them all, If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. Luke 9:23 NKJV https://www.bible.com/114/luk.9.23.nkjv. So it is with us if we can deny our selfishness and love our brothers as Jesus told us to then we will not be in such a hurry to judge our brothers and sisters. 16.01.2022 Kindness: Caring in a Care-less World Unkind people cannot preach the gospel it would be a sham. Our arms of kindness are the only ones God has to embrace others and the only way for people to know He cares. The fruit of the Spirit is not intended for passive acceptance, locked away for safekeeping. It is meant to invigorate and empower us to be about our Father‘s work. Today, the need for the Holy Spirit’s fruit of kindness to blossom in our lives and nourish our wa...sting world is undeniable. People are hungry for the hope that they matter to someone and they do, they matter to God and to us He cares. And because He does, He lavishes His kindness on those who care about Him and on those who don’t. Acts 14:16-17 explains, In the past, he let all nations go their own way. Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy. What a good God! For those who don’t believe that He lives and those who don’t even care if He does, our God still reaches in kindness. And His kindness isn’t dependent on the reciprocation of those He blesses with it, He is kind because that is who He is a kindhearted God (see Matthew 5:44-46). We are called and empowered to be the same way through the Holy Spirit. Millions of people will never open the Bible, but Christians are an open book to them, and we can open our lives to Galatians 5:22, allowing His fruit of kindness to blossom, grow, and feed their hungry hearts. Verses like Colossians 3:12 aren’t just flamboyant accessories, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, we truly are called to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Kindness can glorify God and give a testimony without a word! Please read Titus 3:3-5, Acts 14:16-17, When we become born again and then get filled with the spirit, we take on the attitudes or gifts of the Spirit. It’s then that we are able to express those gifts that God so readily shows us. In a world full of hate, we are the only light of love shining out in a dark and hopeless world. Let’s be that joyful loving caring person in that crowd, workplace, shopping center. Be a blessing to everyone, edify always in doing so we will have the lost asking why. And He understands that you are weak and can only handle so much at one time. That’s why He promises to help He will carry your burdens for you. There’s no time or weight limit to make Him say, You’ve reached your quota for the day. His strength is limitless, and no amount of trouble is too hard for Him. He finds g...reat pleasure in helping and caring for your every need. But you’ve first got to cast them into His hands, then trust and rest in knowing He’s got them under control. Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your grace and strength to carry me through this day. I give You my burdens now and rest in knowing You have taken them, and that You are with me. Amen. 13.01.2022 Goodness: Virtue Unleashed Goodness is intentional, no one is good by default. We choose right over wrong, we resist evil and decide for good, we actively set our hearts on things above while we walk through the world below all by His Spirit. And as the Spirit’s fruit emerges and grows through our lives, His goodness will glorify God and cement His reality to the world around us. We live and work and aspire like all mortals on the planet, eating and dressing in fashion,... enjoying the good things that men and women do like the worldlings. But we are not worldlings. The children of God don’t use outward indications, such as fashions, possessions, or status to express God’s goodness, but walk the streets like any other person. As we do however, we allow the Holy Spirit to express His goodness just as Jesus did and encouraged us to do in Matthew 5:16, In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. The goodness of the Spirit flourishes as a life full of virtue in a vice infested world that glorifies selfishness and corruption in every way from details of fashion, to depraved entertainment, to a distorted meaning of family, and everything in between. His goodness shines like a light where darkness, pretense, flattery, and self-absorption are celebrated as moral assets. For a world whose idea of goodness resonates from their own dark and sinful hearts, God’s goodness blazes like a beacon of hope from our lives as it grows in us as a fruit of the Spirit. And just as He has called us by His own glory and goodness (2 Peter 1:3), we can call others through His goodness flourishing through us. That is why in 2 Thessalonians 1:11, the Apostle Paul prayed that, by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. Amen! 10.01.2022 Consider Creation Jesus knew how to have victory over anxiety. The battle begins in our minds, in our thought life. That’s why he encouraged us to battle anxiety with an active verb: consider. To consider does not refer to a one-time thought. It’s a discipline that is ongoing. What are we to consider? What are we to focus our minds on? Jesus answered those questions in his teaching in Matthew 6, when he encouraged us to consider the birds of the air. He said, They neit...her sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? (verse 26). Jesus is teaching us that to consider is a path to overcoming anxiety. Consider the many facets of creation. The variety around us is astounding. Consider the sun, moon, and stars how they remain fixed in the universe. Consider the flowers in all their variety and colors. Consider the photosynthesis of the plants and trees, absorbing carbon dioxide, then emitting oxygen. Consider music, choirs, and orchestras. Consider the mountains and valleys with their height and splendor. During this global pandemic, consider the doctors, nurses, and hospital workers willing to risk their own health for someone they don’t even know. How do you explain a love willing to die for someone a person doesn’t even know? His love must be rooted in an eternal principle a willingness to risk your own life to give others a chance to survive. It’s unnatural for this kind of sacrificial love to come from a self-protective human. It must have come from God. God is sovereign over all creation and all creatures including you. Jesus knows that the battle against anxiety begins in your mind. He also made it clear that anxiety demonstrates a lack of trust in God. After explaining the value that lilies and birds have to God, he gently chided the disciples for having little faith (Matthew 6:30). Great faith in the Creator, whom we consider in all this glory, is one key way to defeat anxiety. Anxiety and great faith are polar opposites. Fight anxiety by experiencing creation. Although travel is currently restricted during this time of social distancing, we can experience creation in our own backyards. Let creation cry out to you of God’s existence. If God cares for birds and lilies with such endless and perfect love, how much more does he care for you? Consider this truth, and watch your anxiety flee. Please read. 10.01.2022 My Peace I Give You: Do Not Let Your Hearts Be Troubled 2 Peter 1:4 says we are, partakers of the divine nature! That nature blossoms in our life through the fruit of the Spirit, guiding our personality in God’s direction and shaping our identity. It blossomed the same way in Jesus as the fruit of peace ripened to full measure throughout His life so much so that He could literally give us His peace through the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, Peace I leave with you; my peac...e I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. The peace Jesus walked in, like His Joy, came through the Holy Spirit and was in full force, even in times of danger. Matthew 8: 2-3 recounts a leper coming to Him asking to be healed. The Lord’s response in Verse 3 was, And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. It was a dangerous move as Jesus was fully human and leprosy was an infectious, life-threatening disease transmitted through airborne exposure. Jesus could have just healed the suffering leper with a word never getting anywhere near him. Instead, He chose to touch a man who people avoided like their life depended on it because it did. Jesus wasn’t being reckless, He was doing His Father’s will and had peace doing it. Anybody else wouldn’t touch a leper, but Jesus wasn’t just anybody. He was and is the only one opening His arms to all people to work the works of God. And now we are His arms of love in this world as He works the works of God through us. We are given the same peace He had through the Holy Spirit His peace, not the world’s peace, that is a tired sound bite for beauty pageants. In this world we will have trouble, but each one of us can know peace because the Prince of Peace rules our hearts through His Spirit whose fruit of peace grows through the things He has spoken to us (John 16:33). John 14:27, John 16:33, When we can understand that Jesus is with us and the Holy Spirit is in us, then any attempt of the enemy will fail if we decide to resist the devil Therefore submit to God. 09.01.2022 Self-Control: The Restraint that Releases In Galatians 5:19-21, Paul describes the works of the flesh and they all have one thing in common they reject restraint and resolutely abandon self-control. It is self-control that empowers us to deny the allure of the world, defy the desires of the flesh, and resist the temptations of the devil. But it doesn’t stop there, as this ripening fruit nourishes in our soul, it emboldens us to walk the Spirit, and thus, oppose the work...s of the flesh. Let’s be clear, this is not us resisting the acts of the flesh, it is God, the Holy Spirit in us exercising His self-control and His Lordship over our lives! God wants His people to be matchless. They are redeemed, so let them live redeemed lives. They are His workmanship, let them look like it. They are new creatures, let them act as such. Self-control is a Christian essential a distinctive! Without it the appetites of the flesh break through and besiege our lives just as Proverbs 25:28 describes, Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control. We are literally children of God instead of children of men. And as we walk in the Spirit, we can live on the level of the supernatural instead of the natural, following spiritual rather than fleshly desires for we live in the Spirit instead of the flesh. Paul admonished us to, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16). As we do, the Spirit’s self-control will grow fragrant and strong in our lives, restraining the flesh with its destructive passions, and releasing the power and life of God that we might work while it is still day. Please read. Galatians 5:24-25, John 15:8, For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Jesus paid a hefty price for us! So we now more then ever are obligated to surrender all our desires to Him. Amen? Yes we are tempted every day but we can do all things through Christ- I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency]. 09.01.2022 Political theories come and go. Nations and empires rise and fall. Civilizations wax and wane. For this very reason, Jesus resisted all efforts to make Him an earthly King. The ultimate allegiance He wants is that of the heart, for the ultimate universal battle is that of the will of God. The truth of God’s work that abides forever and results in coherence is first lodged in the heart of a person and then in society. To look at the world and to deny God is to open the door in...to that resulting vacuum for the myriad philosophies and pseudo religious fancies that may help us run from the past - but only into the arms of an incoherent future. The book of Job is known even by those who have no respect for God and His Word as that which best symbolizes the struggle of pain. Yes few have taken to heart what Job really says. I remember debating an atheist in which he quoted from Job and said that the answers given to Job were insufficient. I surprised him by telling him that job would agree with him. Then I asked him if he knew what Jobs answer was to that insufficiency he was offered? The man was silent. Job finds his answer in stages. He refuses to let one diagnosis or a great one-liner Provide the satisfactory explanation for his situation. He starts his journey toward finding his answer for suffering and pain from the assumption of God as the Creator and Designer to seeing God as the Revealer of Truth, to recognizing Him as Redeemer and Savior, and finally to experiencing Him as the Restorer and Comforter. How fascinating, for here the three aspects of the Trinity emerge-God the Father as Creator, God the Son as Redeemer, and God the Holy Spirit as Comforter. This triune God is a being within whom there is a relationship. For Job, the overwhelming answer to his questions was not found in an argument. It was not found in a theoretical, philosophical, or scientific proposition. It was not even found in his relationships with his friends or his family, or in the truth or falsehood of their analysis of Job’s problems. Job ultimately found the answer to his questions and his fear-to his pain and his grief-in the Voice of God and His Divine encounter with Him. The answer to his questions was a Person. 08.01.2022 Faithfulness: He’s Out in Front but He’s Got Your Back! You can well ask, what good is goodness, even love, peace or any of the Spirit’s fruit, if we’re not faithful to its ripening in our life? It’s a real question with a real answer Jesus who was faithful both to the Father and to us, even at the cost of His own torment and death. The Spirit’s fruit ripened in full measure in Jesus as He was the ultimate expression of faithfulness through the Holy Spirit by which He... offered Himself (Hebrews 9:14). Not only are we also called to be faithful in the same way (Revelation 2:10), but we are given the same Spirit with His fruit of faithfulness to empower our fidelity to God, just as Jesus was empowered to be faithful. It’s not a different faithfulness, it is the very same faithfulness of God that Jesus walked in that matures in our heart. It’s the Spirit-driven ability to be steadfastly true to what we know is true and rise above any cost to do so even death. And even if the flesh rears its ugly head and we fall short of God’s grace and miss His will, nothing we could ever do can make Him unfaithful to us, He still has our back. What if some were unfaithful? Will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness (Romans 3:3)? That is the fruit planted in our hearts, the very steadfastness, fidelity, and covenant loyalty of God Himself. Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23). Praise God that as His Spirit’s fruit grows in us, great is His faithfulness to make us faithful to the faith as well! Please read. Lamentations 3:22-23, Romans 3:3, When we can come to the realization that there is NOTHING we can do to that will separate us from His Love and Faithfulness. Amen. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. 05.01.2022 Update from Col & Michelle's daughter Jodie , On Colin Druery aka Dad , Wheels BFC, We have left the building Col is being flown back to Port Base Hospital and Mum ColMichelle Druery and I have hit the road... He will be assesed and cared for over the next couple of days in the hospital. Then an action plan to get him home and services in place HE HAS BEEN INSTRUCTED 6 WEEKS REST wish us luck, so the bike keys are being hidden and he will be well educated by netflix and you tube and social media He needs to build heart strength and then have a test to check it all out Hoping for a good outcome Please if you wish to visit that you contact Mum first Thanks once again for all the prayers Love ,messages and Support Now time for us all to have a well earned Rest. 04.01.2022 The Power of Love Conquered the Love of Power The first fruit of the Spirit to grow in our hearts is love not our love, but the love of God! And it is this love that grows into our own ministry which is nothing more than human personality expressing the loving heart of God in Christ. The love of God is God’s love in me and reaching through me, it is not my love carried by the Holy Spirit, but me carrying His love. Thus, we shouldn't ask God to bless our concern for peopl...e, instead we must catch God’s concern and let it express itself through our flawed humanity. Romans 5:5 tells us that God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, who he has given us. I must identify with what God is doing, not ask God to identify with what I am doing. That is a principle of ministry laid down in the New Testament. You and I, we mortals represent Him, but talk is cheap, and His love must come through laying down our lives not just opening our mouths. Christ’s death was His greatest achievement and God’s greatest act of love. Through it the power of love conquered the love of power. It was no mistake, no misfortune, and no accident. Christ was not a martyred victim, but a mighty victor our champion and God’s hero. Jesus came to work the works of God and all His works are love works. God is love! You can’t stop the sun from shining and you can’t stop God from loving. The sun is for shining and God is for loving. The fruit of His love grows and blossoms in our heart and through our life as naturally as the sun shines. And as it does, He loves and reaches to desperate, deceived, and hopeless people through us. Because our human love could never love the people God is asking us to love. It’s God’s love in us that can achieve the level of love required to love others. There is to much ‘me’ what do I get out of loving others amen. That’s why Jesus said to take up our cross daily! 04.01.2022 Mere Humans Representing God One of the most wonderful things about God is His willingness to be represented by man. How can it be possible for a mere human being to even remotely represent the architect of the universe? It certainly would not be possible by mere human effort or ambition. But we have a promise that eclipses human determination yet equips us for the task a promise found in Luke 3:16. The ascension of Christ was the great fulfillment of all His work, all ...His endurance and all His suffering cumulated with His ascent to the right hand of the Father. He could send the Spirit and let the fire fall only when His work here was done that was the price of it, the price of our being baptized with the Spirit and with fire. The fire-Christ is the Bible Christ. A fireless Christ is not the Bible Christ. If we preach a Bible Christ, then we should exemplify that fact by keeping in step with the Spirit, because we live by the Spirit. And as we live by the Spirit, we bear the fruit of the Spirit enabling the man to become the message. Jesus was not a messenger from God, He was the message just as we are by His image maturing in us through the fruit of the Spirit. The Spirit’s purpose is to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:18). That has always been His concern. He is with us for that sole purpose, and in keeping step with the Spirit, His fruit in us is what convicts the world. So, since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit (Galatians 5:25). Keeping in step with the Spirit, we become the message as we bear His fruit. And just as Jesus was the message, it is His image that flourishes in us through His love, joy, peace, and all the rest of the fruit of the Spirit, making us the message also Through our fruit-filled lives, we glorify our Father just as Jesus said, This is to my Father‘s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples (John 15:8). Please read. Galatians 5:24-25, John 15:8. Yesterday’s scripture should have been 2 Timothy 1:7, Galatians 5:16, sorry for the mix up. You and I have the privilege of representing our God, but we can’t do it in our own strength Amen. We are Guided buy the Holy Spirit who lives in us, so if we have an opportunity to witness to someone about God, we can depend on the Holy Spirit to minister to them, and God sends ministering spirits for that are those that are sent out to minister to Those that will receive salvation. Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who are to inherit salvation? God has already started to minister to these people, even if it doesn’t seem like they are not interested (let them know that you are willing to talk to them ) Bless you.
