23.01.2022 For years Bike Safe and others have been requesting VicRoads/Regional Roads Victoria to maintain the limited road shoulders on the Bellarine Peninsula. They have now performed some maintenance at the Point Lonsdale end of Port/Queenscliff Rd. Over a year ago Member for Bellarine, Lisa Neville secured $600,000 for RRV to conduct a works study on sections of this road where no shoulders exist, and while this study is being conducted the existing shoulders have degraded due to lack of maintenance and encroaching grass. Still no outcome from the works study other than reducing the speed limit to 80 kph.
21.01.2022 The Bike Safe AGM is on this month. You are welcome to come along for a chat and if you wish, nominate for a position on the Committee or volunteer to participate as your time permits. Bike Safe is a registered, not for profit organisation; and additional resources to help particularly with advocating for cycling safety to councils, government, government departments, and media is always needed. It is a way to make a difference to cycling safety around Greater Geelong and the Surf Coast.
14.01.2022 UPDATE: This closure and detour is happening as of Tuesday Sept, 10th. Get a good look at the progress on the Drysdale Bypass.
14.01.2022 Another closure of the Bellarine Rail Trail from Aug 26th, but Major Road Projects have had a section of the parallel shared trail concreted so not only is it a safe detour but we also get a good look at the construction progress.
02.01.2022 Drysdale Bypass works will increasingly affect western road approaches to Drysdale as indicated, and will be hazardous to cyclists. Where possible cyclists would be best to avoid the area by using the Bellarine Rail Trail or alternate routes and avoiding school drop-off and pick-up times.
