23.01.2022 After this schmozzel comes to an end, practice social distancing. Get a bike. Avoid public transport and multiple occupants in a motorcar. Avoid being caught using your mobile phone while driving. Avoid the humdrum of freeway traffic. Get a bike! https://bikesafewa.com.au

21.01.2022 My little 2008 Honda CBF250 just clocked 80,000km today. This is the bike that I use most of the time to shadow when teaching. Just goes to show, look after your gear and your gear will look after you. Oil change every 3,000km and oil & oil filter change every 6,000km. ... 3rd chain & sprockets. Original clutch. Started brushes changed at about 60,000. I punish this bike. This is what I demo O turns on. She really is a loyal little bike. Love riding her. http://bikesafewa.com.au

21.01.2022 Before you have a mishap such as this, and your travel insurance cuts you off because you dont have a license, take a bit of time to learn the basics, at least know how to do it before you try it. http://bikesafewa.com.au https://www.facebook.com/139672296105403/posts/3598376526901612/?vh=e&d=n

18.01.2022 Hi all The rumours that the legislation around the automatic upgrade from RE (LAMS) class to R (Unrestricted) class appears to be finally put to bed. The Department of Transport has decided no to change the requirements so the status quo remains unclear. To anybody uncertain about the various classes and the requirements around learning/riding, heres a brief summary:... RN (Moped) Motorcycle under 50cc restricted to a maximum speed of 60km/h. Age requirements: minimum 15 years 9 months for learners permit and 16 years to do practical riding assessment. RE (LAMS - Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme) class Motorcycle up to 650 (659)cc restricted by a power to weight ration of less than 150km per 1000kgs (1 Tonne). Age requirements: minimum 16 years 4 months for learners permit and 17 years to do practical assessment (Note 1) R (Unrestricted/Open) class Any motorcycle including 3 wheeled vehicles, with or without a sidecar. Age requirements: minimum 17 years AND must have held a RE class license for a minimum period of 12 months (Note 2). A person holding a RE license may ride an open/unrestricted motorcycle but must be accompanied by a supervisor and must display the compliant L plates. Each class may have a further restriction applied of A (Automatic) which means that the license holder may only ride a motorcycle that has no clutch (scooter). Any person with a C class (light motor vehicle), May ride and RN class motorcycle without the requirement to hold an RN class license. Note 1: if the learner RE class does not already hold a drivers license, the learner will be required to log all riding/driving with a supervisor. Hours can be logged in a motor car or motorcycle. Note 2: the same rules as apply to provisional license holders. Red/Green P plates. Shadowing: A supervisor/shadow is required to accompany a learner at all times. The supervisor must be on a motorcycle (same as a pillion or other) and may not shadow in a motor car. The supervisor must hold the same or greater class and must have held this license for a minimum period of 4 years or 3 years if open class. So....
