22.01.2022 Shadow Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Mr David Harris MP visited the Bila Muuji office yesterday. Nathan Frank, Manager of the Bila Muuji Drug and Alcohol Network discussed the Bila Muuji Drug and Alcohol program, Social and Emotional Wellbeing in community including the effects that the drought has had on community wellbeing and the need to increase the SEWB workforce in our region. Nathan also shared his views on the importance of connection to culture particularly for young Aboriginal people, and the need for cultural healing spaces.

Dewayne is a proud Wiradjuri man who has been involved in numerous different industries such as Federal Government (DoHA & OATSIH), Law (Aboriginal Legal Aid Northern Territory), Tenancy (Aboriginal Tenant Advocate Service) and Education (TAFE NSW). Dewayne has worked on projects & roles which include eHealth & Health Connect trials, Bush Court Circuits in remote communities of NT, Paralegal, Tenant Advocate, Co-ordinator, Social Housing Projects, Teacher (Community Services & Aboriginal Studies) and Consultant. Dewayne has always had a drive and commitment to helping people and specifically Aboriginal people. Welcome aboard Dewayne.

Bella has grown up in Dubbo and has worked in various roles within the community including aged care, disability and mental health. 13.01.2022 Pathfinders in partnership with Bila Muuji will be holding a Free Birth Certificate and Free Birth Registration for Aboriginal People, as part of the National Aboriginal Birth Certificate Program. Registrations will be held at the Bila Muuji office in Dubbo, Thursday 29th October 2020, 8.30am 12.30pm. A COVID safe plan for the day has been established, participants and family members attending will be directed by the Pathfinders Program Staff.

10.01.2022 Over the last couple of days the Bila Muuji Drug and Alcohol team met with A/Professor Ilse Blignault to workshop the evaluation of the Drug and Alcohol network. The team enjoyed discussing the work that they do and how to develop a culturally appropriate framework to measure the program's success.

Bila Muuji have been working with IBA and Gilgandra Basketball Association to bring basketball to the bush after an announcement by Patty Mills that he would work with IBA to promote basketball with ATSI people across the nation. Yesterday former NBL ...star Tyson Demos attended Gilgandra with representatives from IBA for the first round of camps. Tyson Demos is an Australian former professional basketball player and one-time assistant coach in the National Basketball League (NBL). He played nine seasons in the NBL with the Gold Coast Blaze and Illawarra Hawks. Thanks to Gilgandra Basketball Association and Indigenous Australia for the opportunity to allow Bila Muuji to work with you whilst these camps are on in the region.
