25.01.2022 It's shearing time and members of Melanian Sheep Breeder Soc are busy, busy !! We have just received the first lot of beautiful natural coloured fleece into store. Shorn last Saturday!! 25.01.2022 A big thank you to everyone who likes or follows Bilby, and to my 4 treasured helpers who fantastically looked after shop visitors whilst I was recovering from the dreadful flu currently in Oz. Also a big thank you to Pat D. who kindly took my wares to Fibres West at Muresk recently. Thank you all. Congratulations to Julitha who put 7 entries into Bendigo Sheep Show and had 5 first prizes. Being a very fine spinner, this years challenge was to do a bulky spun skein. Not o...nly did the skein win but got the overall spinning prize. What an amazing accomplishment. I am hoping her entries will come in to our Willagee store for all to see. August is a busy product month, with gorgeous new cottons, bucket loads of merino fleece, king size silk hankies, pulled silk and by the end of August, well have 4 or 5 bright new merino/silk colours. In 7 weeks time we will be setting up the Melanian Societys Black Sheep Shop stall in the Centenerary Pavillions Walk thru WA at 2019 Perth Royal Show.

20.01.2022 Thank you everyone who has come to our Willagee store since we reopened 2 weeks ago. With our covid certificate allowing 4 in store at the same time, we have appreciated your smiles, positive comments and have enjoyed assisting you. In Ashfords current Wheel magazine, an electric ball winder & drum carder were introduced. A stock order was immediately placed, however, covid struck and shops & factories closed. Like us Ashfords have just reopened but their manufacturing sch...edule has become protracted with a flood of new equipment orders. This support is appreciated but it does mean the electric drum carder & ball winder will not be available until early 2021. I will post an update as soon as news is heard. Besides parts & accessories in stock, we do have a Joy dbl treadle, double drive in stock plus a manual drum carder , a Katie 8 folding loom and sampleIT loom, plus lots of fibre and yarns. Stay well, stay safe & thank you for your support. See more

11.01.2022 The year 2020 has begun with so many fellow Australians in crises. Like many others, I do hope there is an end to the fires soon but then the hard work begins, rebuilding homes, their lives and themselves. Winter chills are only 3 or 4 months away and they will need warm garments. Perhaps while they wait, someone will give them some yarn & needles with a simple pattern and show them how to knit. Many of us have a stash of made items waiting for someone to use ( and I have a...n excess stack of white (mostly bulky) short knitting needles. Bilby has donated through Salvation Army. I know there are businesses asking you to buy their goods with a promise to donate a portion but to me this seems a bit like a sales & marketing idea and it does not feel right. Just donate whatever you can ... your time, your expertise, money if you can afford it or your lovingly crafted handmade items or yarns. My very best woolly thoughts to you all. See more

We send you lots of smiles to stay creative, well, thoughtful and caring.
09.01.2022 I met Peggy in 1989/90 at a Fibres West event held in Bateman, WA. Peggys scientific knowledge and her dyehouse studio behind her residence in Claremont was inspirational. The HWSDGuild members benefited from her many dyeing days, workshops and sharing of knowledge. When Peggy asked you to do something, you just wanted to do it because she was a very likeable, good hearted lady who saw adversity as a challenge to improve or change. Peggy will be missed by many, especially in the fibre/textile world. RIP Peggy.
