24.01.2022 A 1 year old Staffy X was admitted into hospital to induce vomiting after she stole 20 cooked chicken wings off the kitchen bench! Cooked bones can easily splinter into shards and puncture internal organs as they move through the gastrointestinal tract. While our vets do not recommend giving your dog any type of bone, cooked bones are extremely dangerous if ingested and you should see veterinary advice immediately. ... After emesis, our patient was monitored in hospital for the day, given an anti nausea injection and sent home on a bland, digestible diet for the next 48 hours. Happy to report our patient is back to her normal and happy self

24.01.2022 RU OKAY? Day 2020 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for all of us to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. We wish to make a special mention to our fellow professionals in the veterinary industry. Sadly veterinarians are 4 times more likely to commit suicide than the general population. Contrary to popular belief that vets get to play with puppies and cute animals ...all day, there are a considerable number of stressor factors facing veterinary professionals such as euthanising animals, dealing with difficult clients, financial issues, compassion fatigue and unrealistic expectations to name a few. Tragically many suffer in silence and chose suicide as a way of dealing with these issues. By knowing what to say, you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before theyre in crisis, which can really make a positive difference to their life.
