25.01.2022 THE REAL REVIEW White of the Week Picardy Chardonnay 2018, Pemberton, AUD $38 NICK BUTLER ... Pemberton has long been associated with quality chardonnay, and this release from Dan Pannell at Picardy captures the essence of the region. Long, cool ripening periods allow the grapes to be picked with just enough ripeness with citrus acidity under-writing freshness. A compelling nose of lemons and grapefruit, nougat and cashews, wet stone minerals. There’s a softness to it, a leesy charm that allows fruit to gently peel off it white peach and lemon pith. More than dips its lid to the Old World. A beautiful wine. (Cork) Score: 95 view Nick’s tasting at The Real Review Alcohol: 13% Ageing: now to 2027 Food: Crispy-skinned salmon fillets Stockist: Picardy Wines Ranked: #6 of 52 2018 Chardonnay from South West Australia Copyright 2019 The Real Review - Corkscore Pty Ltd Please note that Bill, Jon and I with help from many other people made this wine.
