25.01.2022 Still time to register for today's Disability Forum with Ged Kearney, hope you can join us.
25.01.2022 We tried to get the Morrison Government to take accountability for Robodebt so they shut down debate. We need answers. We need a Royal Commission.
25.01.2022 We need Aussie jobs, energy security, & cheaper bills. Not just photo opps from Mr Morrison.
25.01.2022 Australian citizens wanting to come home should never be put behind non-Australians with $$$
24.01.2022 Today is the last day of Rosh Hashanah. Wishing the Jewish community a full and happy New Year.
23.01.2022 Who will be held accountable for the Robodebt scandal?
23.01.2022 Looking forward to joining Kate Thwaites MP at 7pm tonight, for a community discussion on the NDIS. Join us via Zoom to participate.
23.01.2022 22 years ago, two men went to work at the Esso plant in Longford and didnt make it home. I was the Victorian secretary of the Australian Workers Union at the time, and remember all too well the impact this horrific explosion had on those who lost loved ones, those who were injured and all those who knew them, worked with them and loved them. We continue to fight for the rights of workers, for peoples pay and conditions - because every Australian has the right to return... home safely from their shift. Images: 20th anniversary of Longford explosion, with Jim Ward.
23.01.2022 8,168 complaints under Morrisons watch. $35M a year to run. 1 fine issued. ... We need real action from Stuart Robert to address this failure, not denial and bombast.
22.01.2022 Australian citizens stranded and in trouble overseas should be able to rely on real help from their Government.
21.01.2022 Aussies stick together and won’t be bullied by other countries - no matter how big they are.
21.01.2022 Finally some justice for Robodebt victims. Now, Ministers must be accountable for this epic scandal.
21.01.2022 The Morrison Government slugs disability pensioner and mum of five with a debt it will take until shes 131 to pay off. Where were the payment plans over more than a decade? Wheres the fairness?
20.01.2022 Reflecting on 20 years since the 2000 Sydney Olympics... and when many of us had a bit more hair. Ah, memories.
19.01.2022 Scott Morrison and Stuart Robert are cutting the Centrelink Coronavirus Supplement from today. Heres what it means for you:
19.01.2022 Join the discussion with Andrew Leigh and myself as we discuss the future of equality on a post COVID world. Don’t forget to ask your questions in the comments.
17.01.2022 This Merchant Navy Day, we fly the red ensign in honour of the merchant mariners who fought for us, those who perished protecting us, and the vital work still being done today, transporting goods and supplies to our shores. Lets hope that on this day next year, we see more Australian flagged vessels, not less.
17.01.2022 Tudge knew. They knew.
15.01.2022 The more than 400,000 Australians like Barry deserve to know - who knew Robodebt was illegal, and said or did nothing?
14.01.2022 Hi all, in relation to slight tweak to the name of this page. Friends and supporters rest assured I hope to keep serving the people of Maribyrnong & the Labor party as MP for the next 20 years. Stay safe. Be well.
13.01.2022 This year has been a tough one for so many. This R U OK and World Suicide Prevention Day, reach out to your friends and loved ones, check in, have a conversation. Sometimes just being there can make a world of difference.
11.01.2022 After 7 years of Liberal Government, disability is in crisis. Australians deserve better.
11.01.2022 After $20m+ in taxpayers money, Scott Morrison and Stuart Robert’s app is such a dud, states are having to build ones that actually work.
11.01.2022 A very Happy Fathers Day to everyone - this year is a little different, so stay safe and stay connected.
10.01.2022 We found Scotty from Marketing’s inspo. #moodboard #scottyfrommarketing #auspol
10.01.2022 Like Colbeck with Aged Care, Stuart Robert cant say how many Australians with disability have caught COVID. Dont know because they dont care.
10.01.2022 Tim McCallum's dream to sing the national anthem at the Grand Final - what a way to show that people with disability can soar to any heights. Go Tim!
10.01.2022 Last week the Government announced that Independent Assessments will be introduced to the NDIS from 2021. Labor is hearing that many people are concerned that this will be an expanded bureaucracy which could impact choice and control for people with disability on the Scheme. I am seeking an urgent meeting with Minister Robert to find out more about this announcement and what it means for the NDIS.... In the meantime, leave a comment below if you have concerns youd like to share.
09.01.2022 Australians need leadership and accountability from the PM on borders, not more doublespeak.
09.01.2022 Wise words from Rosie Batty here on resilience - always an important message, but particularly so right now as we all manage in these COVID times.
09.01.2022 A 7 year-old Government and its watchdog shouldn't need a review to address systemic neglect in the NDIS. But now that review is back, Stuart Robert MP needs to accept & implement its recommendations urgently before more Australians with disability die of neglect in their homes.
08.01.2022 This Government has been misleading Australians on the NBN for years. Now, after spending $51 billion on second-rate tech, theyve back-flipped, adopting Labors original plan. Aussie households & businesses are copping billions spent and years wasted, all because this Government couldnt admit they got it wrong. Throwback to when they hated this idea:
07.01.2022 People don't want point-scoring right now - they want solutions.
07.01.2022 Wishing local legends Peter Bol and Joseph Deng the very best of luck in their 800m Final tonight over in Zagreb I know youll do us very proud, guys
07.01.2022 My AFL Winner-Takes-All Grand Final proposal. What do you think? A goer? Or worst footy idea since AFLX?
07.01.2022 Live right now with Deborah O'Neill and Save Our Sons Duchenne Foundation
07.01.2022 If the Morrison Government unlawfully steals your money, do they: a) Apologise immediately & pay back with interest b) Deny, deny, deny c) Blame you for the fact they stole your money... Hint they didnt go with a).
07.01.2022 Thousands of complaints. One fine. No apologies. People with disability deserve better than what theyre getting from this Government.
06.01.2022 Imagine if we had a fully functional COVID tracing app instead of Stuart Robert's $20 million dollar dud?
06.01.2022 We need a Royal Commission into Robodebt. We need to know who knew about this illegal scheme, and why they didn’t prevent it.
06.01.2022 Have you or someone you know received a Centrelink debt in the last five years? Did it seem wrong? Was it stressful? Over 700,000 Australians received an unlawful Centrelink debt under Scott Morrisons Robodebt scheme. It is time for the facts to be laid bare.... Until the Government announces a Royal Commission into the Robodebt scandal, the Senate Inquiry is the only way for your Robodebt story to be heard. Submissions for the Robodebt Senate Inquiry are open until 17 September. Share your story here: https://bit.ly/3hLNBfH Further information about the Inquiry, including its terms of reference is available here: https://bit.ly/3jyxFy4
05.01.2022 The crooked Coalition thought it could prop up its budget position by extorting hundreds of thousands of Australians. Yes, we noticed. So arrogant is the Morrison Government, they didn’t listen to the warnings. ... They even ignored the deaths of everyday Australians under their own illegal scheme. Who is accountable? We need a Royal Commission into Robodebt.
03.01.2022 Very sad to hear of passing of Dean Jones. Inspirational batsman and a great Victorian. Such a big part of the iconic summers of cricket that live in the nations collective memory. ... Thoughts with his family & loved ones.
02.01.2022 When I launched a national fuel reserve policy in February 2019, Morrison Government Ministers said: "Will it be a tax on all of us through the tax system, or will they slug us at the fuel bowser?"
02.01.2022 The Royal Commission has made clear this Government’s terrible record on disability. It is a sign of contempt for Australians with disability that the Prime Minister has put serial bungler Stuart Robert in charge of the national disability safety net. The Royal Commission’s accurate conclusion is that when COVID hit the Morrison Government failed to protect Australians with disability who were left feeling forgotten and ignored.... People with disability were not mentioned a single time in this Government’s COVID emergency response plan.
