23.01.2022 'Turmeric' the Bitsa and I went for a magical mystery tour from Nightcliff to Darwin National Park, the Waterfront near Frances Beach, the Deckchair Cinema, Mindil Beach, Nightcliff, then a pint at the pub. Friday 17 July 2020.
20.01.2022 Life has been a little too fractious and fractured lately to really put energy into a full-on return to housesitting. I'm spending most of this week not hiding away but keeping out of the usual hubbub of Darwin life. I even ducked social bowls tonight. Back in with both boots on Friday late afternoon with a music industry meet and greet. Possible market stall day at Parap on Saturday.... Then it's two days with two of my favourite furry clients. Back to the wide, weird, wondrous world of house-sharing from Monday, but available for housesits from then as well: Darwin/Palmerston until end September 2020 Rural & Central NT/WA/SA thereafter subject to border restrictions etc. Bill Q. www.BillTheHousesitter.com/References
19.01.2022 Dear NT Housesitting Clients I'm shooting through to the bush next week, but I'm back on Friday 26 June 2020. I'm available for housesits in the region over the NT school holidays and August, and as mentioned, I'm not charging for approved, valued clients. ... I received a lovely verbal reference from a couple whose gorgeous pups I've looked after twice before, and they put me up for four nights when I was going through a hellish time of it in early April: "Bill, the thing we like about you is that you have boundaries." - Denise and Lars, Wanguri It's true. I may resemble a human jigsaw puzzle with bits missing at times, but I respect boundaries. Bill Q. www.BillTheHousesitter.com/References
18.01.2022 Right. Where were we?
17.01.2022 Recurring housesit in Darwin, NT. Staffy and foxie.
15.01.2022 Returning for possibly my fourth time at this lovely little place in the Palmerston region, just south of Darwin. To put it in perspective for non-Darwinians, where I was staying in Bellamack two weeks ago... no, a week ago to walk from the front door to the bus stop then travel to the Darwin City Bus Interchange takes less than an hour. To drive to my Darwin Fringe event this evening will take 26 minutes.... Yeah, I had to make sure the mics were off when the traffic updates came on Territory FM because I laughed and laughed and laughed. "Building up on Cavenagh Street, around Tivendale Drive, and on Tiger Brennan Drive around Stuart Park." "NO. IT'S NOT! I'm at that intersection you just mentioned and there are five cars in front of me! " Anyhoo, I was going to say something about favourite and least favourite housesits. That can wait. For now, this is my platinum standard. These guys don't get charged a per diem. Bill Q. www.BillTheHousesitter.com
13.01.2022 Pinched the flatmate's dog for an epic walk along the beach and foreshore. This spot is sublime, and after never coming here for the first six months I was in the area, I've now been scores of times. Excellent food, coffee, staff, service, and it's dog friendly. P.S. The thing I adore about this foreshore that runs from near Sunset Park, Nightcliff up to Rapid Creek Bridge then continues along the Dripstone Cliffs, is that in the dry season, EVERY night there are groups dot...ted or massed along it enjoying each others' company. Young, old, family groups, student groups, sports and social groups, and so many kids playing inventive games - no devices. The kids in the middle ground of the top picture are playing 'What's The Time, Mr Wolf?' Some things don't chane over 40-50 years.
10.01.2022 This is my new flatmate's dog. We're going to be good mates. She's already come to the pub with me on lunch break, and this morning before the dawn, she hopped in the ute like she'd done it a hundred times (which she has in the pack leader's ute) and we've come to one of my Darwin happy places for coffee and breakfast. I make it a rule to NOT train/retrain other people's dogs, but I do reinforce behaviour they already have - the good stuff.... And attempt to weed out and eradicate the bad stuff. As I was standing off to the side, a bloke came up with a... can't think of the breed... a dog, and they had the most beautiful interaction. We've been here for over an hour and her senses have been filled to the brim. She's still a ball of energy, but when we get back by 9am* for me to get stuck into some very overdue tasks, she'll sleep the sleep of the innocents. * Yeah, we just walked in at 13:20 ACST and she could still run a City to Surf and return. Oh, and as always, I don't use real names, so please let me introduce you to "Turmeric". ?? #dog #obedience #training is not difficult. 10.01.2022 Not housesitting, but there are a few sentient beings to look after in this house, not the least of who is 'Sid' the #python. First time I've ever done this, and I'd been warned what to expect but still: #snake #snakes
07.01.2022 Collected and shared via me mate Lee from way out west in Busselton... something ending in -ton. #woof

03.01.2022 On This Day in 2012. Housesitting in Fraser, ACT.
03.01.2022 "If you have no destination in mind, any road will get you there." - Bill Gates's version of a notion others have expressed in similar terms. In 1999, I finished a day's work in the APS on a Sunday, then shut myself in an empty office from 3pm Sunday to 3am Monday and hammered out a 2,000-word review of Bill Gates's 'The Road Ahead'. Or 20,000 words. I honestly can't remember. ... I got a HD. Here's a more well-known take on the future: "If you don't know where you've come from, you can't know where you're headed." Me, I think that's a steaming pile of horse shit. That said, here's my very first Bill The Housesitter video. https://youtube.com/watch?v=HrbTl7pBDmA
03.01.2022 Open for business again. Book early to avoid disappointment. No charge for prior, approved clients. NT for preference, but will consider other offers on application. ... Bill Q.
01.01.2022 Still a few days away from returning to the housesitting caper. On this day in 2012, I had long weekend with no commitments so I joined a busload of Illawarriors and headed to the opening weekend of the snow season. So what, you might ask? It was about six weeks before my 46th birthday and I'd lived in Canberra mostly since birth and this was my FIRST trip to the snow in Australia. ... And there was a music festival to MC. Bill Q.
