25.01.2022 We are hosting a Book Fair for 1 day only - this Saturday 5 September, at kindy, from 9am to 1pm. Everyone in our community is welcome to come along and browse through the books on offer. Cash and credit card accepted. Please follow all Covid recommendations - stay away if unwell, keep your distance from others. We will have the books spread out in our kindy room, waiting room and back veranda to keep everyone socially distant. Please enter via our car park gate only - enter from Callide St. Hope to see you there!

24.01.2022 Today we were fortunate to be able to hold an excursion to the Biloela Police Station to acknowledge Police Week, held across the country from Saturday 12th September with the 11th annual Wall to Wall Ride for Remembrance and conclude on Tuesday 29th September, National Police Remembrance Day. We chose today as our Thank A Cop Day (usually held on 19th September) and presented the officers with a special basket of goodies, all suggested by the children as to what they thought the police officers might enjoy.

23.01.2022 The winner of the $250 is number 36, Robyn! Thanks everyone who purchased a number, we really appreciate it.

21.01.2022 At our last kindy meeting we voted to accept that our end of the car park (and both sides) would be a First Movement Forward zone. If you visit us at kindy we want you to reverse park in to the parking spaces so that when you leave, your first move is forward. Parking this way gives you a good line of sight for children and families who may be walking across the car park as well as being able to easily see the cars coming in and out. We thank you for helping to keep everyone safe at our kindy.

Bring cash for entry, BBQ, drinks on course, lucky envelopes, number board, chipping competition and buggy auction. 10.30am shot gun start, and we aim to get away on time, so please come out earlier to the golf course to get organised. We will be ready to take entry fees from 9.30am.

18.01.2022 It's time to start thinking about Christmas. Here's an advent calendar that doesn't require chocolate/treats and can involve the whole family.

18.01.2022 In this "Maggie Moment", parenting author, educator and host of the ABC podcast Parental As Anything Maggie Dent talks about the significance of family rituals ...in our lives. She explains how family rituals do not have to be complex and detailed ceremonies but rather little things that you might do habitually that cement your connection as a family. Can be pizza Friday, Sunday brekky or icecream after bike ride....simple things repeated! What rituals and connections do you have in your family?

18.01.2022 The Gingerbread House kits are ready to go. We would love it if you were able to collect them today or tomorrow (they are taking up space in our office!). Come and collect today (Wednesday) between 1.15pm and 4pm or tomorrow (Thursday) between 12.15pm and 5pm. Make sure that I give you the icing - they need to be kept frozen until you are ready to use them.

16.01.2022 Many parents tell me about times they've "lost it" with their kids and how terrible they feel about it. It's part of being a parent and, dare I say it, human! ...We all lose it sometimes - but the most important thing is what happens afterward, the Repair. Repair is an important part of all relationships, including the parent-child relationship. It's ok to apologise to your child, in fact, it's necessary. It's also great role-modelling, sometimes children need to see you're learning too! Thanks to @drbeckyathome for the graphic! . . . . #parenting #repair #relationship #playtherapy #childrenscounselling #childrenstherapy #parentsupport

15.01.2022 We had a terrific day at our Golf Day yesterday, thank you to the 48 players who supported us. Congratulations to Greg Cruickshank and Mark Johnson, our winners for the day. Don and Sue Macklin, 2nd. DJ and Nathan Vickers 3rd. Gary and Col Heinegar 4th. Chase Wright and Bastian Rudloff 5th. We introduced a chipping competition this year, with the winner taking home $85, a golf bag and balls. DJ Vickers was our inaugural Chipping Champion, with a score of 21. We had p...in shot prizes on every hole as well as long and accuracy drives for golfers and non-golfers, so congratulations to all the winners of those prizes. Two lucky people walked away with $100 each from our lucky number boards. A big thank you to Biloela Golf Club Incorporated for welcoming us back, and massive thanks to Casey Drochmann for being the instigator in getting our day back up and running again, and providing heaps of advice, support and organisation to the day. Thank you to our kindy families who donated all of the food for the BBQ's, and other stuff like hand sanitizers and serviettes. Special mention to the Henderson family who donated the sausages and the Petty family who made a donation to kindy which contributed to the steak sandwiches. A lot of people gave up their time to volunteer to run the day, so thank you to Madi Milios, Steph Rideout, Edith Goos and John Gallagher who helped with the set up. Casey Drochmann and her mum Denise Spillman collected the entry fees, allocated the cards and did the scores at the end of the day. Alysha Mauger and Candyce Clifford convinced people to hand over their money for lucky numbers, lucky envelopes and kindy stubby coolers. Tony Batchelor, my Sister in Law Raina Gallagher and her two friends Lyn Carr and Delly Drochmann, and Lana and Gordon Stewart ran our main BBQ, while Nic Drochmann, Lee Clifford and Angus Mauger ran the sausage sizzle out on the golf course. Thanks to Trent Bryen for convincing people to have a go in our chipping competition, and to Megan Watterston, Madi Milios, Sandy Smith and Lana and Gordon Stewart for delivering drinks on the course in the "booze buggy". Ben Tye, Cameron Burrows, Jim Gallagher and some of the golf club members (sorry I don't know your names) for helping with the pack up. To all the players - it was really appreciated that everyone registered by the Thursday beforehand - this ensured that we didn't go over our maximum number of players and made it really easy to do up the score cards and allocate teams to holes - so thank you very much. Casey and I are already making plans for next year, so we hope Covid restrictions will be eased further and we can have more players, for an even better, social, fun day.

10.01.2022 This was a good read.

09.01.2022 When little people are overwhelmed by BIG emotions, its our job to share our calm, not join their chaos. -L.R.Knost You can let them know that you will a...lways love them even when they make mistakes or when they have hard feelings. You can tell them that its completely normal to feel angry, sad, and frustrated, and that having those feelings doesnt make them a burden or unlovable, it makes them human. Letting kids know theyre loved unconditionally does not mean we move boundaries, in fact, quite the opposite. I love you so much that I will hold this boundary to keep you safe or healthy. Remember that this isnt about shame. You get to try again tomorrow. What if tomorrow you told them you loved them after a time where they hadnt just done something kind or completed a task, but rather when they were breaking down? -Alyssa Blask Campbell @seed.and.sew Peaceful parenting resources: http://t.co/T8goym3P6Z #thegentleparent #parenting #children #life #kindness #Jesuslover #humanlover #feminism #socialjustice #equality #globalresponsibility #humanity #peace #sexualassaultsurvivor #cancer #NETcancer #cancerwarrior #books #coffee #quote #LRKnost www.LRKnost.com . 09.01.2022 Have you tried love languages to connect with your child?

09.01.2022 Something worth thinking about!

08.01.2022 How powerful are these rephrased sentences? Curious Parenting illustrates that even when our judgements are positive "good effort!" evaluation can lead chil...dren to think they can only fail or succeed in meeting our expectations. Using language free of judgement and evaluation can create a safe emotional environment for children to feel free to express themselves. . . . Image description Observation without evaluating: Instead of "You were so good at the store today," try "Our trip to the store felt so peaceful today." Instead of "That sound is really annoying," try "That sound is hard for me to listen to." Instead of "You never clean up your toys," try "I put all the Lego away by myself the last 2 nights." Instead of "You take everything for granted," try "I was disappointed to hear you didnt like the costume I made for you." Instead of "Youre eating like a pig," try "Your sleeve is getting covered in sauce." Instead of "Youre so good at painting, this picture is amazing," try "You used so many different shades of green for the trees." Instead of "You always take toys from your sister," try "The last 3 toys Clara has picked up, youve wanted to play with too." Instead of "If you keep acting like that, no one is going to want to play with you," "You are holding all the play-doh and Erik is crying."

08.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day! Wishing all the dads, grandads and father figures a terrific day.

08.01.2022 Thank you to the weather gods who gave us some good golfing weather, apart from the wind. Thanks everyone for a great day. Will post more tomorrow, taking some time out now to relax.

07.01.2022 "I trust you..." These are MAGICAL words for a child. Anytime a child is struggling, I always start out with those seemingly simple words.... Knowing that someone trusts that you CAN SUCCEED is EMPOWERING....it is a confidence booster. Somehow, we have become a society that is afraid of letting our children struggle. We are afraid of letting them fail and pick themselves up. Whether we want to avoid a tantrum that may occur, or perhaps we just dont have the time to wait for a child to struggle...we solve way too many problems for children. Working through struggles, and failing are VALUABLE life-long skills. ( I, personally, have used those skills far more than Ive used algebra in my life!! :D ) I encourage all people with children in their lives to try these three simple words: "I trust you...." Then follow it up with "I know you will figure this out..." or "I know it is hard, but I know you will come up with a solution".... and then GIVE THEM TIME to work through it for themselves

06.01.2022 Book Fair - A sample of the books that we will have available. The majority of books are for the younger years, but we do have some books for older children and board books for the younger ones.

06.01.2022 Anger Ladder - A thoughtful approach on defining each of the five anger feelings. Might be a useful way to help explain these feelings to children.

04.01.2022 Those two weeks sure went fast didnt they! We are all back to kindy tomorrow...... except for me. I am taking 5 weeks of leave to rest and recharge. Kindy will be left in the hands of Bronwyn Piahana as my replacement. We also welcome Kristen Cavanagh to our kindy, working with us on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I am sure that the five weeks will fly by, but I am so looking forward to not setting my alarm tomorrow. I am sure that everyone is looking forward to returning and I know that Loretta is looking forward to seeing everyone this week, she cant wait to show the children some of the changes we have made to the environment. Hope you all have great first days back. See you soon!
