25.01.2022 We will be at the #MansfieldTwilightMarket Friday 6th March. It's at the Botanical Gardens in Mansfield. 5-9 pm. Video was done before the rain. We got 131mm, but we are picking in the morning and will have fruit for you to enjoy as you start your long weekend.

21.01.2022 It's Friday after a long week and no, I've not had any champagne but you might think I have at the end. Ugly fruit but tasting sooooo delicious.

21.01.2022 Nutrition in the soil fixes more things than we lead ourselves to believe. Being organic, we can't and don't use anything on our farm that's detrimental to the soil or environment. We had an issue after the rain with powdery mildew, but only on one patch. ... When this occurs we throw the fruit away. It's very annoying and we thought it was just because we have had a bit more rain at times when there is fruit set and fruit ripening. There are different points if view as to why it occurs, carried in on the wind is one thought, but why only one for and not the other two fields? One field has the same variety but not affected. We talked with our agronomist who let us know there were some trace elements lacking in one field, which is odd because all fields are fertilised on the same day with the same batch, so what was different that would have one more vulnerable than the other? There is a slight slopes on the patch facing south, allot of our harshest winds come from the west and south west. Could that have caused it? Or was it as simple as the sequence in which we irrigate the fields and the time it takes for the fertilised to go though the pipes from the pump to the field. We rotated the fertilising sequence as well. I've discovered an agronomist is more than a soil tester. I've also discovered that making these changes in minerals and nutrition give fast results and a healthy plant should be able to withstand these external attacks. While most conventional farmers were reaching for their deadly fungicides to prevent problems, we are consistently looking at plant and soil nutrition and I am constantly amazed at how complex and smart nature is, but the soil fascination continues to grow. Within a week, significant changes in the fruit is visible. Since I've become an organic berry farmer, the soil in which we grow our produce in had taken me on a journey of amazement. Here are a couple of pictures of my day today.

21.01.2022 It's hard to make everyone happy so I've been a bit more creative this week. For those who feel I lack innovation because I bring fruit to the market in punnets and for those who think I'm not worth buying from because I have run out of paper bags and loose fruit, please come earlier and you won't be disappointed .. ...And please don't make a tired farmer feel worse because you don't like plastic punnets.... Strawberries are incredibly fragile and I am doing my best to make everyone happy. Plastic Punnet Shaming IS Not cool. . So give me BIG smiles tomorrow please.

21.01.2022 Have a cuppa, check out our video and if you're coming to the Eltham Farmers' Market on Sunday, here's a bit about how we do things to give you confidence in our product. Thank you. From Bimbimbi Farm with our #organicStrawberries

19.01.2022 Well, what a big winter season we have had making changes to the farm. 2021 season is soon upon us and we have some new staff starting tomorrow. We have been busy adapting to some new farming methods covering soil and plant nutrition management. ... We are now officially Certified Organic growers and our blueberries, strawberries and raspberries look promising this season. We have been busy cleaning and sanitising our trays for picking, our cool room, refrigerated truck and packing shed. We have had contact with some wonderful artisan home delivery businesses so we hope to deliver to another 500 or so families, so our little delivery truck will be in Melbourne on a regular basis. We have new alpacas this season - Krispie, Lucy, Ernie Nelson and Greg. And I hope to find a social media person to help me get my stories out because it's going to be a huge year. So many stories, so much delicious fruit. #organicblueberries #organicstrawberries #organicraspberries #certifiedorganic #FarmFoidHealth #ArtisanFarming

13.01.2022 Thank you for buying our seconds at the markets & from our farm. Here's why it helps.

12.01.2022 We have been busy waiting for our crops to ripen. Strawberries are looking magnificent.

12.01.2022 It's been over 2 months since I have posted here due to difficult times and a consistent need to focus on why we are doing this. I have had to dig deep and hubby, well he's been run ragged at times with unexpected surprises and the need to adapt, stretching our capacity to manage due to our still growing business with a deep lack of resources. I felt it difficult to really complain when our fellow farmers and Australian neighbours in other towns were either suffering from d...rought or losing their livelihood due to fires and we just weren't in those situations, so who am I to stand up and say we have been hurting. No matter what you do in life, you need to know your purpose, your WHY because when things get mentally wobbly, when you're just so tired you wonder why you're in this space of WTF, it's important to be grateful and have faith, not hope, but faith in what you are doing is good and right. And sometimes it's only the gratitude you feel for what you have achieved that gives you the momentum to approach the next day with enthusiasm and vision when nothing you feel you've done is working out. Nothing bad lasts forever and the cycle of nature just keeps on whether you like it or not. I was so relieved to see this fruit today and I wanted to share it with you.

10.01.2022 We have a couple of places in Benalla who love our fruit so you don't have to come to Barjarg or feel like you're left out because only Mansfield people have our fruit. Rustik Cafe & Foodstore has them in today. Weather permitting, they'll be a regular at the cafe. :-)

09.01.2022 <<< This is not a talk about the farm or my strawberries, or my blueberries, or my markets... just sharing some of my thoughts and there's my little video of the clouds this morning. >>> In this time we're in, it's challenging for many people. I personally don't know anyone who has not been affected in some way or another with the chaos in the world at the moment. Do you? I doubt it. We've endured the most mentally challenging 12 months. I swear I couldn't imagine or plan en...ough for things that just caught us by surprise. And yet, after 170mm of rain again, the sun shines, the skies are clear, the leaves on our trees are turning red, they look magnificent. The isolation hasn't affected us so dramatically as the weather so we've been putting plans in place for us to improve on next season. We'll also be fully certified in August if our audit is approved. That's a big milestone for us. I took the drone up this morning to look at the lake covered in mist, and I had my other little camera just sitting for 30 minutes or so watching the clouds move, so I did a little video to share with you, of a time lapse of clouds moving across the lake and bit of music. Feel free to share this video with someone who you think might like to have a one minute chill out and appreciate the beauty we have in this world, in spite of the chaos. I am eternally grateful for every single day. The good, the not so good and the bloody fantastic... Are you?

08.01.2022 For our locals, 3KG trays available, today and tomorrow only. Then we prepare for January 2021. Delicious, but too dark for markets. $40.00 per 3kg tray. Not many left. #BimbimbiFarm #OrganicStrawberries

08.01.2022 We were fortunate enough to have amazing backpackers this year. Kristof was one of our stars and brought much enjoyment to our season which was a challenge at times with the weather. Thank you for your wonderful personality, willingness to work, fabulous jam, recipes and of course, fun card playing times. We hope to see you again on your travels.

03.01.2022 We have some good quality strawberry seconds for sale. Actually, more mixed than seconds because there is some water damage. Available from the farm, SMS 0410 517 652 your quantity, we pack and name, and you drive in, put your money in the bag, we hand you the fruit and you drive out. $15.00 per kilo in 1KG bags. SMS ONLY as I am not on FB all the time. :-)... THE VIDEO SAYS WE HAVE TRAYS BUT THEY ARE SOLD.

01.01.2022 We are back. Didn't go far , but we are busy. As of next week, get the popcorn out and chill, and listen to what's going on at the farm.

01.01.2022 Long, long time between posts with a challenging season. Hail, fires, lack of sunshine through smoke haze, heat, rain, you name it, we've been thrown curve balls. It's taken all our might to keep positive, but we've been learning more about the blueberries and raspberries, tweaking the nutrition and growing medium, accepting little steps forward with much gratitude when it seems easier to just toss it in. We're close to finishing or Autumn crop of raspberries and abreast have... big plans for the next season with our new learned information through trial and error. We've had exceptional feedback on our ruby morsels of flavour. The size has been much better, they hold well, they travel will, they taste freaking awesome. (Thank Goodness) I'm getting my mojo back and in these very challenging times, am grateful that our little organic farm feeds many locals with clean, healthy and delicious produce. #CertifiedOrganic #OrganicRaspberries #OrganicFarming #Cleanfood #smallfarms #realhealth #realfood #farmfoodhealth
